Too Young

Original unedited photo, other than copyright.

This is little girl is my mother. If I had to guess, I would say Mom was the first grade when this picture was made because it seems she has all of her baby teeth still. The original photo is quite damaged. I decided to restore it using a couple of different online photo editors.

Befunky

 PicMonkey

 FotoFlexer

PicMonkey and BeFunky are the only two that offer the ability to do some light restoration of old photos with their clone feature, but PicMonkey requires you to upgrade to take advantage of this service. BeFunky offers this as one of their freebie features.

Along with fixing the damaged photograph of my mother, I adjusting the color of the image using a sepia effect which is a close match to the real picture .

Using the BeFunky repaired image, I uploaded it to PicMonkey and FotoFlexer. At PicMonkey I used the Holga effect and at FotoFlexer I used the Grayscale effect and added a border. All three images have a pleasing appearance either in black and white or sepia, but I may prefer sepia simply because it looks more like the original.

BeFunky seemed to do a good job repairing the damaged picture. One thing I did like about all three photo editors is I was able to save the image as a png (larger size) file from its original scanned format (jpg).  Another file option available was jpg format. I have yet to print these images, but for casual digital viewing they look nice. What do you think?

In honor of my mother, I thought I’d dig through the music archives of 1951 to see what song was at the top of the billboard chart and this is what I found by Nat King Cole….
