This is the second annual Roctober Mewsic Festival hosted by Mary from Jingle Jangle Jungle and I’m happy to join along with her in the fun.
This month, I’m revisiting some of the classic 70s mewsician that I loved in my teen years. Many I either didn’t catch their names or just forgotten so this hop is educating me all over.
For today’s artist inspiration I pulled my pick from the online resource, Ultimate Classic Rock list of Top 100 70s Rock Albums. Listen now to Todd Rundgren, Something/Anything?
Todd released his album, Something/Anything? in 1972. This is Rundgren’s first double album. The album charted on the US Billboard Pop albums in 1974 at #29. I have to admit his name didn’t ring any bells until I heard the first track and then it clicked. Feel free to listen to any and all of this album. Here are song titles listed by track order (NOTE: This is a Todd Rundgren playlist creation which I borrowed.)…
1. I Saw the Light is Todd’s breakthrough hit; charted #12 Billboard Adult Contemporary and #16 Billboard Pop Singles
2. It Wouldn’t Have Made Any Difference
3. Wolfman Jack
4. Cold Morning Light
5. It Takes Two to Tango (This Is for the Girls)
6. Sweeter Memories
7. Intro
8. Breathless (Instrumental)
9. The Night the Carousel Burned Down
10. Saving Grace
11. Marlene
12. Song of the Viking
13. I Went to the Mirror
14. Black Maria
15. One More Day (No Word)
16. Couldn’t I Just Tell You
17. Torch Song
18. Little Red Lights
19. Overture: My Roots/ (That’s What I Want)/Messin’
20. Dust in the Wind
21. Piss Aaron
22. Hello It’s Me charted #5 in the US
23. Some Folks Are Even Whiter Than Me
24. You Left Me Sore
25. Slut
“I Saw the Light’ and ‘Hello It’s Me’ are the only tracks that I recall vividly. What about you, do you remember any of these songs? What other Todd Rundgren 70s songs come to mind that you like?
Hit the 4M dance floor HERE!!
Change in plans…At the time I began posting for this month, I had no idea that DH would need to use some of his vacation time or risk losing it. That being said, I’ll be away from Blogosphere for the most part until bright an early Tuesday morning, Oct. 22. I’ll do my best to boogie with you but if I slip off the dance floor for too long then know I will eventually make it by to see you, so save a dance for me. 😉
I hope you’ll join me tomorrow for a mewsic doubleheader with my mid-month, Battle of the Bands and another edition of Rocktober Mewsic Fest. 😉

I recognize some of the songs, but I honestly don’t know much about Todd Rundgren. Thanks for the tunes!
Sorry about being late to comment.. my week has got off to a rocky start, but hopefully it will get back on track.
We recognized the hits too but nothing beyond that, and from some of the titles it was a good choice!
Interesting playlist
I’m like you, I recognized the hits but not much else. Still, it’s a good album. Todd was more of a producer after this; I think he produced “We’re An American Band” for Grand Funk Railroad. Great music!
I don’t know much of his work besides the two big hits either. Thanks for sharing the list. I always like getting a sample of new to me artists! Happy Monday.
I had the pleasure of seeing Todd Rundgren perform in a small Marin County club in the late 1980s. He was doing innovative things with computers and synthesizers, which was fascinating. Some of those things are now common-place, but they were cutting-edge at the time.
