Tickle Me Tuesdays launch with giggles, poetry, and mewsic

You might have noticed I changed Cathy Chats to Tickle Me Tuesdays or at the very least I may alternate between the two while keeping this time slot for both.  We’ll see how things go. I’m a woman. Therefore I can change my mind as often as I’d like. 😉

A couple of weeks ago, Eugenia offered up the prompt word, SAPPHIRE. I like it and felt a calling to do something with it.  I even composed a poem while lying awake one night but wouldn’t you know it didn’t stay with me.  I managed to piece together some phrases to compose this verse which I transposed to a photograph that I took from Water Rock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2016.  I’ll be honest with you I played with my photo-editing software tweaking it to give me the desired effect to match my poem.  Here it is!

Did you know there was a group from the 60s called The Sapphires? That’s a new one me but so are a lot of things. After reading what Wikipedia had to say about the group, I composed a playlist of their songs mentioned. Hit play and enjoy!

Alrighty, folks, that’s it for now. It’s time to get to my exercise regimen for today.

But before I do I have time for one more cup of coffee and a quick visit to join some of my Tuesday bloggy friends. You’re invited to come along to visit,  Random Tuesday Thoughts with Stacy Uncorked, Tuesday Chatter with Eugenia at BewNSpew, and Happy Tuesday with Sandee from Comedy Plus this morning.  That’s a wrap for now but come back tomorrow for Wild Wednesdays where just about anything goes!

X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. HA! The book needing to come out is hilarious, Tuesday is Monday’s ugly sister also hilarious, your poem is sublime (and I appreciated the work you did on your photo to accompany it, too). The exercise gif is hysterical, and I’m a fan of pumpkin spice! There. I admitted it…heh!! Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, Cathy! 🙂

  2. I love your poem and what a beautiful way to fall asleep to. I have heard of this group but unsure where…maybe Shady’s Place. The cat cracked me up…too funny

  3. Great take on Sapphire. I’ve not heard that in years.

Love all the funnies and yes when I was still working Tuesday was indeed Mondays ugly sister.

That cat doing that exercise made me laugh out loud.

Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday, my friend. Love and hugs. ♥

  4. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Tickle Me Tuesday, dear friend! I love your TMT poster girl and I enjoyed your sillies and your sapphire inspired poem. Your poem takes me back to the happy years of my youth in Pennsylvania when, at dusk, the droning of locusts yielded to the chirping of crickets and the sight of “lightning bugs,” as we called them in our neck of the woods, as they floated through the air, creating a magical effect at day’s end. I love the last four lines of your poem: “Sapphire sky overhauled – Heaven’s casting call – Multitude of twinkling lights – Bid the day a goodnight,” I can imagine you lying in bed composing those lines. I can think of much worse things for a person to have on their mind as they drift to sleep.

Yessum, I am familiar with the Philadelphia vocal group The Sapphires. I obtained their song “Who Do You Love” a few years ago on a various artists CD of obscure Philly pop and R&B recordings. “Who Do You Love” is a great record, one that reminds me of something Ruby & The Romantics might have done. Released in November 1963, “Who Do You Love,” managed to reach #25 on the pop chart in the early weeks of 1964, quite an achievement in the midst of Beatlemania. “Lets Break Up For A While” sounds a lot like “On Broadway,” the Drifters hit from that same time frame. “Thank You For Loving Me” sounds a lot like “Don’t Say Nothing Bad About My Baby,” the Cookies hit. “Evil One” sounds an awful lot like Martha And The Vandellas who were hot at the time of its release in July 1965, and “The Slow Fizz” sounds like the Vandellas’ hit “Nowhere To Run.” As you can tell, when a certain sound became popular, many struggling groups tried to imitate it. The Sapphires were not very successful, placing only one other song on the chart, the minor hit “Gotta Have Your Love,” which is included in your set.

Thanks for the beautiful pictures, words and mewsic, dear friend Cathy!
