There’s Plenty of Music Waiting for You on the Dance Floor

Awww Mondays

It’s a brand new month.  I decided to make some changes with Monday’s Music Moves Me format at least for October.  It remains to be seen if these will become permanent down the line.  The first thing you probably picked up on is my time slot.  Yesterday, I provided the link up for the early party goers and turned off comments with no music with the hopes to get folks back today. Another thing is, there won’t be an honorary co-host for this month. Over the summer, I requested theme suggestions and mentioned credit will be given to the blogger for his/her contribution.

This week’s theme is offered from Sandee from Comedy-Plus “Bounty”She didn’t elaborate but mentioned October is the month of bounty which got the ole gears turning.  Soon other words popped inside my head plentiful, blessings, harvest,… so don’t restrict yourself, get creative! Find ways to expand the prompt.  You’re not limited to song titles. Song lyrics and artist/band names are options to consider. Whatever you do, just have fun with it!

I try to put my own spin on the theme. I was convinced I’d find plenty of “bounty” song titles but there weren’t so my song harvest came up short. I got hits with “bounty” in song lyrics and for musicians/bands. In my first song pick, I thought I found the latter but it turns out what I was reading is the name of a video game. The female vocalist, Alina Gingertail, below singing “Greflet’s Song” is from the video game King’s Bounty II.

I like ‘plentiful’. It looks a bit challenging. When I searched YouTube, I got song titles with ‘plenty’. I was very intrigued when Leonard Cohen came up. His voice is a bit creepy at times, so I was very surprised that I liked “The Land of Plenty”

Continuing on this path of ‘plenty’ I pulled together a short playlist of all new-to-me tunes.

Song tracks 1: Bruce Smeaton “Music from Plenty” 2. Steve Winwood ft. Des’ree “Plenty of Lovin'” 3. James Newton Hoard “Horn of Plenty” from the Hunger Games 4. Anita Baker “Plenty of Room” 5. Tenement Halls “Plenty is Never Enough”

Songs of harvest has been used in the past and I was sure to not find anything new when I spotted Nightwish. I featured this Finnish band on CAAC a few times over the years and I always enjoy listening to them when I stumble on their music. Here they are with “Harvest”.

Okie dokie, that’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed my song picks. Remember this a music party and if you have it to share feel free to join us on the dance floor. 😉

Update…..I apologize to everyone who signed up but I was messing around at LinkyTools and accidentally deleted the code. *bad head on table* Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to reconstruct it because of DS’s wedding this weekend.  Please add your URL in comments for others to find you.  I’m really sorry for the screw up!

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

Before I scat, I have a new BOTB running and if you have time to cast your vote then I’d love to know whose your favorite artist is in Another Way To Die Showdown. Thank you Sandee for the theme! 👏  This is CAAC signing off,  have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

    1. I did a screwy, screwy thing, Granny! This week I went to LinkyTools to fix one thing and wound up accidentally deleting this week’s code. I didn’t have time to try to rebuild it with it being so late in the week because we are in the midst of getting things in order for our son’s wedding which happens today! I apologize for the mix up. I’ll copy and paste your 4M HERE for anyone wishing to boogie with you!

      1. OMC that sounds so exciting, CK. We wish you, your son and family a great wedding day. We hope you share a piece of the wedding with us…we’re the curious ones, you know that😸 Thank you for taking time to respond on us. Hope to see you soon and ENJOY💗Extra double Pawkisses for all of you🐾😽💞

  2. I’ve got to cut this a little short because I’m in my backyard and I think every pesky insect in the area has found me. So I will be back but indoors. I almost used the Leonard Cohen song – I ended up liking it, too. The other song I really liked was Nightwish. I’m partly through the playlist of five so – later!! Dang insects! 3. I struggled with this theme today, plus I was so distracted by the possibilities of more rounds for my battle… in addition to this, I was kidnapped on Saturday and not returned home until Sunday. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! You did great with this one!
It’s good to make changes every once in a while. These seem to be good changes, too.

    1. Mary,

Oh no! I hate reading the news of your cancer doing its number again. You’re always in my prayers. Kidnapped, you say? You must have driven your capturers crazy if they returned you. lol I’ll have to remember that on the off chance I’m ever kidnapped. Of course, it’s obvious I’m nuts from the start and that’s why no attempts have been made…yet. One day, someone will slip up. lol Thanks for boogieing with us!

  4. I thought it was difficult too but the Sting song, Fields of Gold popped into my head and fit perfectly. It doesn’t always work out that way though!

    1. I love a celtic song and you have a couple here and they sound so good. It’s that time when we think of all the fall colours and enjoy the beauty. I always think of Vivaldi’s 4 seasons, yhe autumn one. One of the best is by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops. Eugene Ormany is great too

  5. Good morning sweetie. This is the month of bounty for sure.

    Awww on that cutie pie.

Love your playlist. You nailed bounty.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs, my friend. ♥

  6. Hi Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday on….. MONDAY, dear friend! 🙂 I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that little fur ball as he welcomes the month of October. I’m sure he’d give my face a good lickin’.

Alina Gingertail is an exciting mewsical discovery. I read that she is a Russian multi-instrumentalist and blogger who specializes in producing covers of songs from video games, cartoons, anime and TV shows. Her clean, clear singing voice cuts right through to my soul and I like her pretty kitty.

I very much enjoyed “The Land Of Plenty” by Leonard Cohen. The song gives us “plenty” to think about as we listen to the refrain:

“May the lights in The Land of Plenty
Shine on the truth some day.”

The Bruce Smeaton instrumental is beautiful and relaxing. I’m finding “plenty” to like as I listen to “Plenty Of Lovin'” by Steve Winwood. His vocal is soulful and the song is funky good. Featured artist on Winwood’s recording is Des’ree, an English pop vocalist who won the Brit Award for Best British female solo artist in 1999. Together they’re dynamite. “Horn Of Plenty” from the soundtrack of Hunger Games is bold and majestic. I remember “soul jazz” and “quiet storm” songstress Anita Baker making a splash in 1986 with her first big hit “Sweet Love.” That video was heavily requested by viewers of the MTV station where I worked in the 80s. It’s nice to hear another song by Anita this morning. In my experience, everyone loves Nightwish, and many YouTubers have been covering their catalog in recent years. I enjoyed the theme related song you posted – “Harvest.”

Thanks for leaving us with words to ponder: “With every deed you are sowing a seed.”

Thank you very much for the Halloween season mewsical treats. I’ll have a new post starting tamale and hope to see you over on my space at some point during the week. Meanwhile, have a wonderful Monday, dear friend Cathy!
