I made a point to put together a second battle this month as it’s the last one for the year. My inspired song title crossed my ears for the first time last December when we were at the Grand Ole Opry Christmas show in Nashville. The beautiful performance of this song brought tears to my eyes. The song was written by Don Cook, Curly Putman, and Keith Whitley in 1985. Whitley recorded this tender song the same year. This morning, I’m using two well known country female artists Trisha Yearwood and Kathy Mattea in this showdown.
Which lady did you like the best, Trisha or Kathy?
Polls close on the 21st at noon (ET)!
DH is off for this week and we have plans to take in the holiday festivities in our area and nearby communities. Hopefully, I will find time to report the winner next week but if not then it’ll follow shortly after. If you have time, check the list of participants beneath the banner for more battles underway now located in the footer of my blog. That concludes another edition of Battle of the Bands. My newest edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sunday goes live later today. You’re invited to join the party. This is CAAC signing off, have a bandtastic day!

CAThy! It’s That You!!
I hope you and yourn are having a Merry Christmas season!
At first, I was thinking this would be a cover of the famous Eagles song, but this song was new to me – like a new baby.
I have always liked Kathy Mattea a lot; truly one of my favorite of all the female Country singers ever. Also, her ‘Willow In The Wind’ has one of my all-time favorite album covers. So, it came as no surprise to me that I preferred her rendition of this song.
Judge Al Bondigas – my notorious brother – was in the living room while I was playing these two songs that you’ve selected. I tried to make him leave, but no one can make my brother do anything that he doesn’t want to do. So he stayed. And he also made a rulin’ for Kathy, because he said she has more “pop” in her voice.
So, please chalk up two more for my gal, Kathy M.
I’ve got nuttin’ but guys goin’ in my Battle this round. Three guys: Paul Simon against Sinatra & Garfunkel. Hmmm… That doesn’t sound quite right.

Nice song, tough choice. I do especially like the instrumental stull on the Kathy Mattea version so I’ll give my vote to that version. Both are very listenable though.

VOTE = KATHY MATTEA
Both versions are lovely, and I am a fan of both of these songstresses. Somehow the ambience of Kathy’s version just struck me more deeply. ~Ed.
