The voice of Cinderella, Ilene Woods

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Happy belated Independence Day to you, my lovelies!  I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating the day our nation became a free nation.

This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme, July’s honorary co-hostess, Robin from Songbird’s Crazy World, is honoring her younger daughter’s 29th birthday who’s a Disney Princess and Harry Potter fan.  She wants us to celebrate her birthday with fantasy, magic, and/or fairy tales songs.

I never went to the theater as a child to see any of Disney’s animated movies.  By the time I was old enough to see these films I was busy with school then work.  It wasn’t until we had children that I was able to indulge in those classic princess Disney cartoons.  My all-time favorite is without a doubt, Cinderella.

Ilene Woods is the voice-over actress that we all know well.  I found Woods’ All the Best album as a YouTube playlist which has three (tracks 1, 6, & 9) songs from Cinderella.

TRACKLIST   1. A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes  00:11   2. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo  02:53   3. Amor  04:50  4. I’ll Walk Alone 07:42   5.- I Remember You  10:44   6. So This Is Love  13:47   7. Sterllita  16:17   8. Pretty Kitty Blue Eyes  19:18   9. Sing Sweet Nightingale  21:37  10. That Old Feeling  23:49  11. Too Much In Love  26:50

Hit play to enjoy All the Best with Ilene Woods, the real Cinderella! 😉

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

DH has today off for Independence Day which probably means I won’t be around in Blogosphere until tomorrow.  Oh yeah, let me mention my July 1st BOTB is live and if you missed it, then I’d love to have you take part in the showdown voting. That’s a wrap for now. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

    1. Binky,

You’re right, that pup sure is awwdorably patriotic! Yeah, Iilene’s playlist does put ya in the mood to watch a Disney film, huh? 🙂 Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, little furriend!

  2. Hi Cathy!
“A Dream is a Wish” has got to be in my top-ten all-time favorite Disney soundtrack songs. What a voice! Thanks for visiting my blog, as it reminds me to stop by yours. Always a joy to visit here!

    1. Jen,

Who doesn’t like “A Dream is a Wish”? It’s a fabulous, cheery song that makes you smile. Thanks for the return visit. I get what you’re saying about the stop ins. It helps me as well to visit those I may otherwise miss. Right now, I have the A2Z Road Trip to help keep me on track a little. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!

  3. Cathy, I feel like I’m such a let down to you… but I’ll make it up to you I promise. Your tunes made me cry because I remember seeing these Disney movies with my mom at the theater/home. I believe she loved them as much as I did. She would bounce around the house singing the tunes and dancing. I really miss my mom. She was really fun, loving and great. Thank you for the moments being with her once again in my mind and heart! The original songs are the best. Thank very much dearest Cathy. HUGS

    1. Marie,

You’re not letting anyone down, darlin’! You’ll get things together eventually. We’ll get elements on your blog adjusted and working fine soon. At least you’re playing around, getting familiar with how it works so that’ll help you in the long haul. Thanks for swinging by to boogie with me, dearie!

  4. Oh, to hear Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo again and to learn about the woman who sang it. When I was growing up, there was a TV show called Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color (this was back when most TV shows were in black and white), and it was a Sunday night staple with me. (Of course, we didn’t have a color set!) When I had my one child (1990’s) a number of the old classic (and I do mean classic) Disney movies were being released on VHS and I purchased a number of them – Cinderella, Fantasia (1940), Pinocchio (1940), and the very first full length feature Disney movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937/38). I loved all of them, but for some reason the more recent ones have never caught on with me. Would you believe I never have seen many of the more recent ones except through You Tube clips of songs? But I digress – I enjoyed hearing this soundtrack. What a lovely voice.

    1. Alana,

I remember the Disney segments the Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color. I had forgotten all about that series. It was a great way to round out the weekend. I love the classic Disney animated films, even those made in the early 90s were good but things began changing midway through the 90s and what’s out now… just forget it! The stories look embarrassingly stupid or dumb or both. I can’t believe people call this stuff entertainment. If given the chance, I betcha kids today probably like the older stuff over the current productions better, too.

  5. Love the pup..how could one not!? It sounds like you had a great weekend and extended one today which is always nice. She has a lovely lilting voice that reminds me of full bodied cream. I read what Shady said…poor lady to have this dreaded disease which is a nightmare. I feel for her family who took care of her. She had such a nice voice.

    1. Birgit,

A tragic ending for a lovely lady for sure. Hopefully those who cared for her did so with great love and patience, understanding it was the disease at work and not the woman they knew. I hope someday no one ever has to suffer with mind-paralysis memory loss associated with Alzheimer’s and other memory thieves.

  6. I grew up watching the classic Disney films, and my daughters grew up watching the second golden age of Disney. We all love Cinderella. Great choice.

    1. Robin,

Your daughters are close in age to mine (33 & 31). They loved the Disney princesses when they were small and we watched all of them up through the early 90s. Our son liked the animated films that didn’t center around a princess. His favorite character of course was Pooh Bear!

  7. Awww, that pup is most adorable. We both went with pups today.

Would you do me a favor and fix Marie’s comments. No one can comment on her posts.

Love the playlist. Disney is a huge part of some many lives.

    Teddy was ever so right.

    1. Sandee,

I’m sure she knows commenting isn’t enabled but hasn’t figured that out just yet but hopefully, we’ll connect today on the phone to iron some of her issues out. Thanks for boogieing by today, my dear! Hugs to you!!

  8. Noting quite like a patriotic Golden Retriever pup to start your holiday celebration.

This will undoubtedly be the most appropriate playlist I will see today. I don’t think anyone who has seen Cinderella will forget that voice. Really well done today. Have a blessed week.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed Iilene’s playlist. Her voice was so pure and beautiful! Thanks for sharing the dance floor with the 4M crew, my friend!

  9. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice extended holiday weekend.

Awww! – I wanna grab that paw-some patriotic pup and smooch him silly! 🙂 Happy 29 to Robin’s daughter!

Thanks for presenting the best of New Hampshire born singer Ilene Woods, the original voice of Cinderella in the 1950 Walt Disney animated feature. As a boy, I went to see the film in the theater and well remember Ilene’s beautiful voice which was ideal for the role. Perhaps it is Ilene who is most responsible for cultivating my lifelong fondness of the clean, clear, pure, soft, soothing female vocal style. I read that, as a little girl, Ilene wanted to become a school teacher, but she had a stage mother who pushed her into show biz, and the rest is history. It’s interesting that Ilene beat out more than 300 other young women who auditioned for the part of Cinderella, and that she went on to sing for U.S. presidents FDR and Harry Truman. Sadly, in her later years Ilene developed Alzheimer’s, was placed in a nursing home, and couldn’t remember that she had been the voice of Cinderella. To be robbed (stripped) of such a priceless memory was a cruel twist indeed. I see that she passed away around this time of year in 2010 at the age of 81. The songs I best remember in your set are the first one, “A Dream Is A Wish,” and another one from Cinderella, the novelty song “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” aka “The Magic Song.”

I appreciate the inspiring quote by Teddy Roosevelt. I wish you and DH a happy and restful day and a wonderful week ahead, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Thanks for being the early bird visitor this morning. We’re enjoying our long weekend. I’m delighted you liked my playlist and quote. Alzheimer’s is a cruel hand of fate. Truly sad! How I pray my memory doesn’t fade like this. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

        1. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor and for this week’s Awww Monday photo contribution. There’s nothing like pround words to encourage the mind and spirit. 😉
