This week’s music theme is whatever music moves you and this is a great opportunity to share with you the music discovery introduced to me last year by Mr. Shady at SPMM. I’m going to make this super easy, click play to let the music transport you to the 80s to boogie to the beat of Centerfold!
Here’s a fun tidbit. Centerfold’s 1984 debut single was accompanied by a spicy photoshoot for the Dutch Playboy. They also performed the song naked on the TV show TopPop. Centerfold became a household name with their sex kitten image. It’s such great fun to watch old music videos of young ladies embracing their femininity and beauty. Centerfold have nice voices mixed with the sound I love from the 80s.
This is a music linky party. The 4M co-hostess are listed in my side bar. Every other week we have a suggested music theme to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
Have you put in your music theme request for the new year? With no commitment to co-host for a month, what’s stopping you from sending in yours? I will give credit for submissions on my new 4M Prompts page. 😉 Come back mid-week for the next installment in my Maine Vacation photo & memories series. This is CAAC signing off, have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

New to me, and interesting that I missed hearing anything from them, although Intimate Climate sounded vaguely familiar to me. I especially liked their cover of Radar Love. Alana ramblinwitham
That’s real ’80’s there!
Love the kitties and great video. I never heard of the group before but I like their music.
Eugenia,
Centerfold has that 80s vibe which is a lot of fun to revisit. It’s makes me nostalgic.
The kitty can dance as so can those ladies.
Mimi,
The kitties, no doubt they’re all females, weren’t going to be out done by some human ladies. 😀
I am always amazed at all the artists I don’t know.
Brian, that’s the way I feel, too.
I do remember them from the 80’s. Nice choice. Very cool.
Patrick,
Cool! They breezed over my head in the 80s. I’m glad I have my bloggy friends to share these old bands with me. Thanks for joining the dance party, my friend!
Awesome post- love the kitties! Have a great week!
Thanks for popping by, Kathe! I hope you have a great week as well. 🙂
When I saw the title, I was thinking of J Giels’ Centerfold. 🙂
Ellen, LOL! No worry. I hope you enjoyed the ladies boogieing disco style. 🙂
They are not my cup of tea but they fo evoke the 80s. They gave more talent than nany today. I love the kitties. So cute
Birgit,
I agree Centerfold does have more talent than many of today’s artists. I’m glad you came by for some boogie time!
Oh I like this video and the curve into a smile. That is so right. Hope all is well with you. Have a great day.
All is well with me, Nicole. I hope the same for you. I know you’re dealing with health issues. I’m glad you came by to get your charge with some music. Have a boogietastic week, my dear!
Awww on the kitties. Adorable.
Love this video. Not seen it before or heard this song. I like it.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥
Thanks, Sandee! So, happy you came by to boogie with me. 🙂
By 1984 I was married with an eight year old daughter in the house, so pop music was not my favorite genre and Centerfold was a little too disco for me.
1984 seems like so long ago and yet nearby with memories as yours being a daddy of a young girl. That’s the way I feel when I view the past in regards to my kids. I liked the disco beat back in the day but these days I have to be in the mindset for it. It’s funny how our music taste like everything else changes over the years. Thanks for coming to the party, my friend!
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend!
Awww… I just wanna smooch those boogieing kitties. Looks like they’re doing some breakdancing out there on the street.
I need to keep my comment more brief than usual because I have a medical appt. across town this morning. I want to comment now, because the drug makes me sleepy and I won’t be a sharp later. Thanks for understanding.
I am delighted and flattered that you decided to focus on Centerfold after liking the Dutch girl trio at Shady’s Place. You already know how much I appreciate their style along with the other Dutch girl acts I introduced in that post. Although all three women sang, it was Laura Fygi who did most of the lead vocals for Centerfold. Laura went on to a successful solo career. It’s interesting that her daddy was a Dutch businessman and a director of the Dutch multinational conglomerate corporation Philips, makers of many kinds of goods including stereo equipment I have owned over the years and the computer monitor that I am currently using. Laura’s mother was an Egyptian bellydancer!
“Bad Boy” is a winner of a song and a super clear video. “Pump It Up” reminds me of “Footloose.” “Dictator” is another brilliantly restored live stage performance by the trio. I certainly agree with you that it’s great to see (remember) how much fun it was when women dressed up, looked their best and played the game of love and attraction that made the world go around for centuries. Seems too few of today’s women are interested in playing that game and have either changed the rules or abandoned it entirely. On “Up And Coming,” you found another wonderful vid with great sound quality. You can tell that many people are working to restore these rare vintage performances and bring them back in HD and HQ for our enjoyment. I love Centerfold’s cover of “Radar Love” presented in a slower, sultry style that’s refreshingly different from the original. “Dirty Mind” is another great and sassy song. This Centerfold collection is loaded with electro-pop girl group gems, slickly produced and thoroughly enjoyable. “See Red” is another killer. “Play The Game” says it all.
Thank you for picking up where I left off, bringing us more of the great sights and sound of Centerfold. I am introducing a new series and a new celeb hostess at Shady’s Place this week and hope you can come over for a visit. I’m off to the clinic now. Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!
Tom,
I knew you’d be delighted that I went with this group for my Monday music line up this week. I appreciated you sharing a bit about Laura Fygi. I haven’t done any digging on the girls personal side. I always enjoy reading your thoughts on my posts. The Best of Centerfold playlist is a nice collection. Their music is electric that’ll put you in a dance mood in a heart beat. Thanks for introducing this talented girl band, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
