Spam – America’s Got Talent (RTT)

Ever since I removed the Disqus comment widget, and made sure blogger doesn’t need comment verification, I get spam comments. Does this mean, I’m more important in Blogosphere?

The good news is I believe for the most part Blogger is automatically moving anything that remotely resembles spam to my junk folder for moderation.  This has prompted questions like:

  • Are you noticing this going on with your blog?
  • Should I be more concerned?
  • What are your thoughts about blocking Anonymous?
  • Do you have any other helpful tips to offer?

Some anonymous users are truly legit but most I’ve gotten have not been.  I’d love to read your answers/experiences on this matter!

While I’m on the topic of Blogger, does anyone ever have problems with the spell check toggling on? I’m 99% confident sometimes I misspell words in my posts, but when I click the spell checker button to turn it on, it simply doesn’t do anything. Nothing is highlighted, absolutely nothing! Why is that? Is there a spell check widget you can add to your blog, which is better?

Do you remember what it was like to have only one email address? I vaguely do. These days I have six email addresses, which I’m trying to juggle and not too successfully at that. This brings me to…time to de-clutter my electronic mail. Why?

Yesterday, I got an email from Stacy Uncorked telling me she got an email failure notification.   Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Stacy!  I believe the problem for this was simply my silly fault due to a key entry slip but it prompted me to poke around my other Gmail address. That’s when I found notifications from my blog and personal responses which needed my attention.

Call me crazy and I know you’re gonna do it, but you’re right – I’m bonkers!  Kindly accept my apologies for not answering in a timely fashion. I’ve corrected this problem by adding my blog email addy on my iPhone. Now, I’ll get notifications more quickly and should be able to reply sooner, instead of later (much).

Autumn is teasing me this morning.  Our temperatures dipped into the upper 50s for the overnight low.  That’s a bit nippy, not sweat clothes weather, but definitely cool on the skin.  I’m getting a bit wired thinking about the many fun things I’m eager to pursue. One of my immediate things I did for the first time is making soy candles…autumn time soy candles.  Have you ever made homemade candle before? Watch the informative DIY video to learn how!

I’ve been so tired lately.  Usually, I don’t have much trouble getting out of bed.  It’s just the rest of the day, I feel like I’m dragging and if I sit for long then I feel like I’ll nod right off, even while typing on the computer.  Then it occurred to me, I’m getting roughly 6-hours of sleep each night.  This isn’t enough for me.  What should I be getting each night?  According to sleepfoundation.org, adults should get between 7-9 hours of sleep each night. It’s time to hit the sheets a little sooner every night, I believe.

This weekend, we’re having dinner with some lovely friends at their home. My contribution for the evening’s meal will be none other than dessert. For a quite some time, Robin and I have discussed how we’d love to have Italian Cream Cake again, but we haven’t found it in any of our local restaurants in a long time. Not that it isn’t available, but not conveniently so at the places we normally dine at.

Getting a chance to make dessert, I decided to test run a new recipe. I will attempt to make an Italian Cream Cake. Have you ever made an Italian Cream Cake? I am planning on using a FoodNetwork recipe that I found.  I’ll try to take a picture of the finished product so you can see how mine turned out.  Also, I will certainly tell you how it weights in with us and our friends.  Do you have a recipe you’d care to share? What tips would you offer me for my first try?

America’s Got Talent used to be a fun show to watch. To be perfectly honest, this season has gotten ridiculous.  The judges and fans have lost their sense to keep the best talent going forward.  I lost most interest in watching this program weeks ago, but there is one guy left who I’m pulling for.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr from my home state of West Virginia.  This unlikely looking fellow with his dreadlocks and lanky build blew me out of the water when he appeared for his first audition.  This is what that show is about, finding real diamonds. If you missed seeing Landau’s début introduction to the world, catch it below…

What’s that? You said, “Holy Cow!” You’re so right – Holy cow! Isn’t he amazing? Good luck, Landau!

I’ve rebelled with the help of Stacy Uncorked (thanks, Stacy! ) who’s filling in for Keely @ UnMom while on a break with Random Tuesday Thoughts. This is my time to let go. I know, you’ll feel right at home with the rest of us, as you unleash your randomness.  You won’t run into any oddball looks here because anything goes! C’mon on, join the weekly fun with this cool meme and tell Stacy, “Cathy sent ya!”

I’m looking forward to reading what you have to say today, so drop me a few lines! I’ll be sure to return the visit.

  1. Loved your random! Very random-y? Ha ha. I may have to try and make candles, it seems like such an awesome thing to do!
I watched America’s Got Talent the first season and haven’t watched it since.

  2. I made candles once. I used old coffee mugs and just broke them apart when the candle was set. Pretty cool! happy Tuesday.
