Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays! This has been one of the coldest Januarys I can remember. It’s far too frigid for me me. This week’s theme fits perfect, not that I really want to do there, but let’s do songs that make you think of cold weather!
Having just come out of a month long sprint of Christmas music any number of the songs I played or heard in December make me think of cold weather. That was then and this is now. Everything has its place, so I won’t share more Christmas music. In my Internet quest I found a number of songs with winter or cold in the title when I was spotted Gwen Stefani’s video. The name of seemed perfect, Early Winter. In east Tennessee, we began getting colder than usual runs beginning before Thanksgiving and while we’ve had some mild temps to slip in-between the cold periods it’s a bit more than what we’re accustomed to.
Stefani collaborated with English pianist, Tim Rice-Oxley on this piece. The lyrics tells the story of a relationship coming to an end. It’s speculated it was about her then husband Gavin Rossdale. I don’t know first hand this kind of heartache but I definitely understand how the pain might feel bitter cold and a warm blanket can’t make that kind of winter chill better.
From Gwen’s 2nd solo studio album, The Sweet Escape, I’d like to share with you, Early Winter.
Another song title to pique my curiosity is by Of Monsters and Men. A band I know little about, other than name only. The sounds of winter definitely send shivers up my spine. I admit, I don’t understand the lyrics but the actor lip-synching the words not only looks cold but makes me feel chilled. Here’s Winter Sound by Of Monsters and Men!
Music themes are only suggestions. I don’t care one what kind of music it is, as long as you share music. Now, it’s your turn!

♫♪Happy Birthday♪♫ to all the January birthday folks.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs, Cathy. ♥
OMC that doggie is hilarious…MOL…We had a little sun today, and it was 11℃ (51,8F), so that more than welcome
We hope an early Spring is coming soon, CK. We liked the Winter Sound of that Monsters and Men. Stay warm! Double Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead

You picked a couple of very unique tunes today and I certainly didn’t expect that raspy tenor voice to spill out of that frozen beard. Well played. Have a blessed week.
I read the bearded dude in the “Winter Sound” video is synching and is Icelandic actor Ólafur Darri Ólafsson. The voice and image definitely don’t match up but the effect totally says winter! Thanks for dropping by and joining the party, my friend!
Happy Birthday to all the January B’Days! Our weather is getting warmer, but, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of winter.
The last of winter isn’t over but I think the roughest parts are for most of us. How much snow did y’all get? Isn’t that just crazy New Orleans got almost 10″? That’s more than we got a few weeks ago. lol
The weather is crazy, Cathy! Snow in New Orleans and Florida too. We only got a few inches, however, it lasted a long time.
Your awww picture is so funny, I needed that.
Great music! Have a great week.
Thanks, I’m happy to provide some smiles!
I love winter- I am definitely joining this hop. Happy Birthday to all the January b’days! XO
Those were three new ones to me. I think I’d rather thing about Spring LOL!
It finally struggled into the upper 30’s today, and I hope we get a little break from all the cold weather. My outdoor thermometer quit (turned out it needed new batteries) the night we got into the below zero’s F- some areas near me recorded -28F but I suspect we only got to -6. Still! I liked both Of Monsters and Men and Madonna’s birthday song (both new to me) And the beat goes on! Alana ramblinwitham
Alana,
We were like y’all a few days ago but it’s improved a lot. Outside it currently reads 46º. I think they were forecasting it to reach 50 and maybe it did but I missed seeing it. We’re out of that nasty weather slump, at least that’s what various weather sites are reporting. I hope things improve for y’all fast. I would hate to live up north where the winters never seem to end. Thanks for stopping by today to share a dance with me. Have a good week, darlin’! xo
Yup, we’re suffering through the Polar Vortex here too!
At least it’s a little milder today, and we have some sun. Come on spring! I enjoyed your song choices here, Cathy. Not usually a Gwen Stefani fan, but this was a good one!
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Post coming up to mark the occasion.
Debbie,
We’ve been watching a TV series called Ice Road Truckers are something like that. You probably know what I’m talking about where truckers drive stretches of ice to transport stuff to really remote places in Canada. First off, you couldn’t pay me enough to drive across an icy lake in a car much less a huge truck carrying hundreds of pounds. That’s so scary! The weather looks unbearable, too. No thank you! I’m happy right where I am even when I don’t feel so happy. I’m glad you’re experience a milder day for a change. I know y’all will have a bit more to go before it feels like spring is on the way but enjoy the warming breaks when Mother Nature supplies them. It sure makes one appreciative of moments like that. You’re most welcome for the birthday wishes and thanks for dropping by. I’ll watch for your upcoming post to publish, my dear. Have a good evening! xo
