Songs of National & Personal Independence

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

This month’s honorary co-host, John from Driller’s Place, suggested “songs about personal or national independence” for this week’s mewsic theme.

This past Thursday, we celebrated Independence Day in America.  I am happy that I was Born Free in a nation with an I Won’t Back Down philosophy.  It’s critical I believe that You’ve Got To Stand For Something to protect one’s liberty and  I’m grateful for the Freedom of my homeland; more grateful still is my eternal freedom through the independence Jesus offered me through His death and Resurrection Power.

I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday.

On behalf of the 4M crew,  we’re so happy you joined our party today and invite you to link your 🎶mewsic posts🎶 below. You’re welcome to add the linky code to your blog and if you would, please add a link back to the 4M (Marie, Stacy, Alana, Colette, or Cathy) hostess of your choice.  All other posts are subject for immediate removal or labeled NO MUSIC.

ATTENTION!!! Would you like to be the September honorary co-host? If so, shoot me an email or leave me a comment saying ‘YES! Sign me up for next month!’

The last report from Marie, she said she’s still weak. That C Diff sure is awful! Keep praying for our fearless leader. Tomorrow I’ll be absent in Blogosphere but I’ll be back to dance with you early Tuesday morning, so keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon.  Have a sparkletastic day!  😉

  1. Hi Cathy 🙂 I can’t share your views on politics, because honestly, I don’t really have any…I try to avoid it altogether, but then Canada is doing pretty well I think, so maybe I’m just being lazy! But I did want to chime in that being born free is a privilege I also feel so much gratitude for! 🙂

    1. Rain,

I don’t like getting all political on my blog. It puts too many people off, especially if one’s site isn’t oriented as such and frankly most people don’t want an escape. I get that but sometimes something sparks a flame and I usually add my two cents but I try to be polite always. People are too easily offended today which is super crazy. At least you recognize that being born is a privilege. Thanks for visiting, dearie!

  2. Cathy- I read your comments on my 4ht of July blog about our country and the mess with immigration. I totally agree with you! The inmates are running this insane asylum….all those morons want is for the immigrants to vote….and we all know who those morons are……. I want my country back!

    1. Kathe,

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what the Dems what and most people can’t see past the emotion to see the truth. I’ve said a thousand times, I have no problem with someone who immigrates legally to our country, who wishes to adopt our way of life instead of forcing theirs on us. There’s no such thing as a short cut without putting something/someone at risk. I’d like to have my country back, too.

  3. Thank you for the music! Especially Tom Petty with Ringo and George but extra especially Revolution Saints who I’d never heard of but will be listening to from now on. And I loved that Aaron Tipping video with the little boy – never heard of Aaron before either – must be missing so much over here across the pond!

  4. Such a cute puppy! ♥ That Freedom song certainly fits your theme, but was there supposed to be a bigger playlist? Only saw the one. That’s sad news about Marie! C Diff is a serious illness and I wish her all the best for a speedier recovery. ♥

  5. Hi grrlfriend! I was kinda surprised that on one hand you’re sharing a songs of worship and then you quote a man (Nietzsche) who proclaimed that “God is dead” and that the concept of God is obsolete. Nietzsche was a wise man. Cute puppy.

    1. Cathy, I did not know this about Nietzsche. I just saw the quote and liked it. He’s wrong about God but his quote sure rings true. Purrhaps, I need to be more careful on the people’s quotes I feature. Thanks for the revelation and for boogieing with me!

    1. Robin, we’d love to have you as an honorary co-host! October is open if you’d like to do it for that month then let me know and thanks for boogieing with me!!

  6. Outstanding set this morning. While the subject matter is difficult, Martina McBride’s Independence Day is a favorite of mine. True freedom does indeed rest in faith of our Creator and Savior. Thanks for sharing some great tunes today.

    1. Marie,

Nope, you didn’t mess up the linky up. The linky tools admin moved the images to a different server or something like that and while I was able to replace most of the ones not showing I still can’t get Driller’s or mine added for this week. It’s great seeing you on the dance floor, now don’t overdo things, girlie! xx

  7. I’m as patriotic as you are girlfriend. It’s a good thing. Love that video.

Aw on that that pup wrapped in our precious flag. Perfect.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, my friend. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I know you’re truly a red, white, and blue girl every bit as much as I am. That’s why I love you so! 😉 Thanks for joining me on the dance floor with these songs of patriotism and love for our great country.

      1. We live in the greatest country in the world. What’s not to be proud of? I can’t think of much. 🙂

    1. Jacqui,

Sure thing.’Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray! Hip-hip-hooray!’ I’m so glad that I live in the USA!!Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me.

  8. Hey, Cathy! Cute patriotic pup and love the mewsic. Happy Fourth of July weekend to you and DH! Keep boogieing!

    1. Eugenia,

Thanks for joining me on the dance floor and for the 4th warm wishes, my friend! I’ll be swinging by your place soon. 😉

  9. I am hoping Marie can join us tomorrow, even if it’s a brief post – I’ve had glimpses into how powerful C. diff can be from a former co worker who contracted it in the hospital after knee replacement surgery. I’m a little surprised I forgot all about the Tom Petty song – in fact it was the only song of these that I was familiar with. Of the songs new to me, I really enjoyed the Revolution Saints and “Freedom”. I’ll be investigating more of their music as I have time. Enjoy your summer, Cathy!

    1. Alana,

I didn’t know anyone purrsonally to have C.Diff before now. I’d always heard about cases resulting from surgeries like with your former co-worker. I’m happy you like Revolution Saints. As I was telling Tom, I have more of their mewsic slanted in a not-so-distant future post. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, my friend. I’m heading over to boogie with you next!

  10. Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend!! I hope you and DH had a fine week and are having a safe and restful holiday weekend. I haven’t kept up on Contemporary Christian mewsic, and therefore Texan Chris Tomlin and his song “Resurrection Power” are new to my ears. Of course, Tom Petty’s “Won’t Back Down” is a very familiar “oldie” and I also remember Martina McBride singing the powerful Gretchen Peters’ song “Independence Day “about domestic abuse and how it led a mother to commit a desperate act on the 4th of July. My favorite in this set of tunes is the harder rock sound of the supergroup Revolution Saints doing “Freedom,” a song from their 2017 second studio album Light in the Dark. Revolution Saints is the “ABC” or rock bands, Doug Aldrich, Jack Blades and Deen Castronovo, veteran musicians that were former members of famous bands that included Journey, Ozzy Osbourne, Bad English,Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, Whitesnake and Dio. I also appreciated the message behind country artist Aaron Tippin’s “You’ve Got to Stand for Something,” the title song from his 1991 album. How true it is. You’ve got to stand up for what you think is right.

Thank for you for the Sunday morning songs, dear friend Cathy. I’m so sorry to learn that friend Marie is still struggling. My prayers for her continue. See your Tuesday!

    1. Tom,

It doesn’t surprise me that you like the sound of Revolution Saints but it was a surprise to me that I liked them so well. I have more of their mewsic slanted on CAAC in the future. I haven’t kept up with Contemporary Christian mewsic much over the years but occasionally something grabs my attention when I’m searching for song possibilities. I’ve always enjoyed Chris Tomlin’s mewsic. Tom Petty is a classic artist and Martina McBride is my favorite country female singer. Tippin’s song message is powerful and moving. Thank you for keeping Marie in your prayers. I think she’s on the mend but still has a way to go before she’s completely well. Viruses really wreck the system. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend. I hope you have a boogietastic week!
