Singers for Farmers playlist #farmaid

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

🎶ℳ𝒶𝓇𝓎 from Jingle, Jangle, Jungle 🎶 is this month’s honorary co-host. She’s come up with another good mewsic idea with honoring farmers, more precisely the annual event dedicated since 1985 these folks known as Farm Aid. For this week’s theme, she wants us to build a playlist featuring Farm Aid past/presents artists purrforming at this shindig.

Are you ready to dance?

Some of these featured tunes the artists purrformed at the festival in the past and I really wanted my entire playlist to follow my line of thinking but I came up short with my theme within a theme, so anywho there you have it my Singers for Farmers‘ playlist! 😉

  • Follow Your Arrow ~ Kacey Musgraves
  • Always On My Mind ~ Willie Nelson
  • Roll Me Up and Smoke When I Die ~ WN
  • Mellow My Mind ~ Neil Young
  • Even The Skies Are Blue ~ Jamey Johnson
  • R.O.C.K. In The USA ~ John Mellencamp
  • Small Town ~ JM

Please readthis is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

It’s now time to hit the 4M dance floor!

AttentionWould you like to be the 4M honorary co-host for a month? November is open ready to be snagged! Send me an email or leave a message in comments saying ‘Count me in, I want to do it!’ and I’ll secure your spot, then zip you an email with details.

[tweetthis]Hit the #MondaysMusicMovesMe dance floor with me! @xmasdolly [/tweetthis]

Did you get a chance to vote in my BoTB comeback post? I’d love for you click over to tell me which artist you like the best in my mid-September showdown.

I apologize for my absences today but I have some doctor appointments to tend to but I’ll hop by your place at the start of tomorrow.  Just keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and have a boogietastic day!

  1. As I type my comment, Farm Aid is on live on You Tube, and without this theme, I never would even have noticed. It’s sad that we still need a Farm Aid. My boss’s father is a farmer and still farms into his 80’s, while being treated for cancer. And yet, he loses money despite all his hard work. That should not be!! Now that I’ve heard Kacey Musgraves on several blogs, I’m a fan. Willie Nelson, of course, is timeless, and his song made me laugh (no, I don’t smoke). Neil Young’s song was new to me. And John Mellencamp – the cherry on top of this musical sundae.

  2. These are great selections! I tried to come up with something in time to participate in this, but got busy with last minute work, housework, and packing for yet another trip to Memphis to attend to estate business. I had no idea Farm Aid was an annual thing.

    1. Kim,

I had all but forgotten about Farm Aid, so don’t feel bad. 🙂 We’re generally not picking on the dance floor. If you have tunes spinning on your turntable or cloud storage or streaming then we don’t care cause all we want to do is boogie with you. 🙂 But, life happens I get that so just know you’re welcome anytime to play along with the theme or not. Have a good week, darlin’!

  3. Thanks for introducing us to the Farm Aid, that we didn’t know of, CK. What a great event! Grandpaw is the cowboy in our house, he loves country music, but so do we 😀 Your mewsic was pawsome, we knew them all. Now we can follow the arrow😸Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead to all of you🐾😽💞

  4. I remember seeing the first Farm Aid concert on television in 1985, and when it was time for the song “Highwayman” to be performed, by Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, the role of Kristofferson was played by Glen Campbell, who was the first to record the Jimmy Webb classic. Sadly, TNN had gone to commercial, and missed the opening with Willie, but the rest of the performance is intact.

  5. Awww, what an adorable photograph. So cute.

    Love the video.

I hope all goes well at the doctors.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

  6. what a nice list and i knew most but a couple of them were new to me. i am glad this is still going on. I love the little jokes as well especially the one with Paper, scissors. I will back track and look at your BOTB now

  7. Hi, Cathy!

It boggles my mind to find Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sunday back on Monday! 🙂

I well remember the benefit concerts that have been organized and staged over the years for various worthy causes including The Concert for Bangladesh in 1971, Live Aid and Farm Aid both in 1985, and The Concert for New York City following the 9-11 Attacks in 2001, The first Farm Aid concert to raise money for family farmers in the U.S. was organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Neil Young. Performers included Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, B.B. King, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty, Naively, it was thought only one such event would be required to take care of the problem. Unfortunately the plight of the farmer persisted (and continues to this day) and Farm Aid shows have taken place nearly every year since 1985.

Of the songs in your set, I most enjoyed the two roots rock classics by Mellencamp. You did an excellent job of picking songs by participating artists and having the first letters in the titles spell out F.A.R.M.E.R.S.

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Oops, I should’ve changed my welcome message. Originally I had this set up to go live on Sunday but then I decided to not put too much on that day with my BoTB comeback post. I really need to be more careful. The Farm Aid benefit is a good thing. The life of a farmer is hard and some years things don’t go well. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend. You rock!

  8. Guess we follow the same musical path. Have a great week my friend. I have doctors today! Big hugs… hope you had a great weekend.

    1. Marie,

Thanks for boogieing with me early yesterday morning. I’m playing catch up in Blogosphere today while doing what seems like a zillion other things. I hope everything went well with your doctor appointments. As for me, mine went smooth! Have a songsational week, dearie!
