She Thinks #ThursdayArtDatewithRain

Rain’s theme this week is Crisp and Brilliant.  She offered some excellent examples which spurred me in the right direction.  I wanted to use ‘Brillant’ and immediately famous sculpture of The Thinker came to mind. Do you know who the artist was? I didn’t but Wikipedia informed me the sculpture was Auguste Rodin. Between the weekly prompt and Rodin’s art, I was inspired to illustrate ‘She Thinks’.

This is how I feel often. How about you?

The arms need a little modifying but for now I’ll go with the sketch. Perhaps when time permits I can revamp it a wee bit. That’s the beauty of using a drawing app, I can redo my work a thousand times without the normal frustrations of pencil but I do enjoy working with real art tools.

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉  It’s been a super pleasure to share my sprinkle of talent I have with you this morning. 😘 If you like to see what others are bringing to the art play date, then I invite you to high tail it over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry!

Tomorrow is DH’s off Friday and have decided to skip my Friday Sillies post but instead include a few giggles in for you. My She Thinks art got me to thinking and I found these what my cat think she looks like sillies.

Don’t forgot you hit the dance floor with Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday with songs inspired by, performed by or about Native Americans.  Have a good weekend!

    1. Robert,

Thanks. A woman’s family wears on her mind always even after the kids are grown, she thinks about them. I’m thankful my husband keeps me grounded. Cats are funny. We had a kitty for years but in the end, I had to give her up due to bad allergies. A very good friend who’s a super cat lover took her in which gave me comfort.

    1. Liz,

The thing I like about my iPad & Apple pencil while using the Procreate drawing app is I don’t have to worry with a large sketch pad or several pencils. I do like hands-on old school tools but high tech art is convenient and less fuss, as long as everything is charged properly. lol

  1. I love your art and had no clue there was an art app. I should have know this, but I didn’t. Good for you.

I love all the funnies. I’m going to link this post to Feline Friday.

Have a fabulous long weekend. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Most of the colored sketches that I share on my blog are done using the Procreate drawing app on my iPad. When DH bought me the Pro version, I knew I’d be able to use a pencil with it and I began hinting to him that’s what I wanted for my bday present that year. Sure enough, he delivered and I began doodling on my iPad almost immediately. It’s a great fun tool!

    1. Thank you, darlin’! I wanted to convey a coldness as a statue might feel to the touch with the grunge grey backdrop. I’m glad that you got it.

  2. What I like most about this work is the thought you put into it, well that and the beauty of it, when an artist reveals their motivation or inspiration it gives us a peek into the the true artist, I love how your mind works lol,, oh and those kitties,, wonderful!

    1. Lorie,

Thank you. It’s kind words like yours that’s the encouraging push to keep me doodling. I’m so happy that I finally pursued my dreams to get back into art for myself, no personal gain just pleasure only, despite my doubts. 🙂

  3. Now that is “brilliant” … who, but you would have had the insight to realize that there is, in fact, a female Rodin “Thinker”. Beautifully done, Cathy. and I LOL at your cat … and in fact, I am pretty sure all cats have that same delusion about themselves. Maybe that is why they are so aloof. I think I could duplicate every one of those pictures with my own cats. You certainly are fun … what an “up” way to start my day 🙂 Thank you, Cathy …

    1. Andrea,

Women do a lot of thinking…perhaps too much thinking. Or, maybe it’s worry. lol We’re always thinking about the well being of others, their happiness, their future, their everything. Women tend to put everyone’s needs above their own but they need to take care of themselves, too. Unfortunately, that usually doesn’t happen until after the nest is empty. I’m enjoying my time to rediscover my passions in life.

  4. Hi Cathy 🙂 Your She Thinker is so beautiful! And I love the words you associated with her, yes…I do feel that way often! How brilliant of you to think of Rodin’s sculpture and put a feminine twist on it!

Oh those are great kitty funnies! It’s so true…I wish I had their confidence sometimes!!! Enjoy your Friday with DH!!! 🙂 Thanks so much for joining in!!

    1. Rain,

I’m glad that you like my rendition. It’s fun to put my personal spin on art such as this and I’m happy that you pushed the right buttons to get me thinking along these lines.

  5. Your thinker is truly brilliant, I think you succeeded very well. I like to sit on a bench by the Rhine and think. Not naked of course! Love the cat/panther photos, so true of how cats see themselves. My Kitty was boss of the house from the second she came through the door, everybody else, including Scruffy had to accept her rule, and we all lived happily together for a long time. She even helped with Scruffy’s babies, licking them clean and carrying them back to the basket. We humans could learn a lot from the social behaviour of our pets! Hugs, Valerie

  6. Lovely crisp colours in your ‘thinker’ piece today Cathy. I missed seeing Rodin’s piece on a quick trip to Paris many years ago. Thankfully we have youtube. Thanks for the sillies!

    1. Christine,

You’ll not catch me traveling abroad, so I’ll have to view the world through other people’s eyes. Thankfully the Internet makes this an easier process. 🙂

  7. Hi, Cathy!

Thanks for sharing your torrent of talent in the art department and some Friday Sillies on Thursday, dear friend!

I like your take on The Thinker. You are probably too young to remember, but Auguste Rodin’s famous statue was a key feature in the TV sitcom The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis which aired from 1959 to 1963. The Thinker statue stood in Central City park and Dobie, the lead character, frequently sat in front of it and adopted the exact same pose before breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the viewing audience. Your illustration of the woman Thinker conveys the impression that she is deep in thought and searching for answers to life’s problems. The frosty blue background makes me think she is also cold, enhancing the sense of desperation.

I enjoyed those giggle memes with kitty komparisons. Thank you for the morning entertainment, dear friend Cathy, and enjoy the rest of your week and weekend!
