Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays! This week’s theme is SHADES OF GREEN!
This year, I’m focusing on or at least trying to limit myself to one song share each week. I usually run with the first song to capture my ear like one of the most popular R&B instrumentals from the 60s, Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG’s!
Coming across this old song title brought to mind how grandma would make a large pot of pintos and a pan of buttermilk cornbread to go with the freshly pulled green onions. That’s some fine country eating at its best!
Music themes are only suggestions. I don’t care one what kind of music it is, as long as you share music. Now, it’s your turn!

Now to recap last week’s The Lion VS The Lamb BOTB. I featured two oldies. One I knew and the other was new. I realized using a well known song like The Lions Sleep Tonight next to a little known song title, Mary’s Little Lamb might result in bad battle. The ballot box was stuffed with votes for The Tokens which is how I voted. It would’ve been a complete shut-out had it not be for the one lone ballot.
The votes:
The Tokens – Priscilla, Birgit, Diedre, Patrick, Ed, Stephen, Mimi Brian, Lee, John, ME
Otis Redding – Eugi, Debbie
But was it really a bad battle? I don’t think so, it gave me the opportunity to discovery a new song by Otis Redding an while wasn’t top hit material, it was done very well by an awesome singer and of course who doesn’t really like the 1961 #1 hit The Lions Sleep Tonight? That was a favorite childhood song of mine and still remains so to this day.
Special thanks to everyone who voted. It’s always fun to see how the numbers fall.

3. Air doodling objects is an obscure habit that I really enjoy. It helps me to envision how to more accurate draw something with a pencil.
Thanks for visiting. Remember, if you have music to share join the party and hit the dance floor with the 4M gang. Have a boogietastic week!

We remember this song, CK, it’s a great instrumental song, but we never knew the title of it
Your pictures are OUTSTANDING! We don’t know if you showed them earlier, but for us they’re always new
Double Pawkisses for a Happy Day and week ahead

I don’t believe I shared these pictures before now. I just intended to and never got around to doing it.
CAThy, It’s That YOU!
I loves me some Green Onions (the song, I mean — but the edible plant is good too). I can’t hear Green Onions without seeing that parade of cars leading to the drag race in the movie ‘American Graffiti’. I got to see Booker T. perform live once in Phoenix, 2013. Got to meet him after the show, too. Very cool guy!

I hear ya. I enjoyed the theme of your Battle. (I really like themed BOTB contests.) The outcome isn’t as important as many folks believe. For example, my all-time favorite BOTB match-up was a themed contest and the outcome was a massive blowout. But you know what? The blowout didn’t alter the fact that it was, and still is, my own favorite BOTB installment.

That’s cool you met Booker T and that he was a nice fella, too. That makes for a good experience and memories. I’m glad you feel the same as me on themed battles. I wish I had more time to invest in this one. I might’ve come up with two different songs and that’s what I’ll look for should I choose to do this one again in the future. Thanks for dropping by, my friend!
Those are some super beautiful pictures. Very nice. And instrumentals are amazing. I love them. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Thanks for joining the party, Patrick!
That is a lovely photo with the many shades of green.. I love your song selection, Green Onions, and I agree there is nothing like country food. I had a feeling the Tokens would win, but I thought Otis deserved a chance, though it wasn’t his best music.
Otis did deserve a shot at it. I thought his song interesting. My folks couldn’t afford a lot when I was, so I grew tired of stuff like pinto beans and cornbread but now it’s yummy comfort food!
Your dinner menu sounds pretty good to me. We have some pinto beans on the stove right now that I guess will be our dinner and lunch tomorrow.
I like the outcome of your Battle.

I love country food! A popular thing with pintos when I was a kid was fried wieners. In my opinion it tastes a lot better than Beanie Weenies. I also liked fried sauerkraut with pintos. I need to make some of this good eatings soon! Thanks for checking out my battle results, Lee!
Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I admire you doing 10,000 steps a day. I bet I get in around only 4,000. XO
It’s difficult to in that kind of steps just doing stuff around the house. The elliptical makes the job achievable. It’s easy to reach when on vacation or doing other fun activities. 4000 steps is better good, though. If I stay in front of the computer all day my steps my steps might be 2000. That’s not acceptable. I’m determined to exercise every day possible which is super hard with so many distractions.
That wedding chapel is so pretty and the grounds are gorgeous. Love the Green Onions tune.
The spot and chapel are really pretty.
Morning is the best time and the green in the photo is a delight. Thanks for reminding me about this song, I hadn’t heard it in forever.
All that green is so cheery, isn’t it? Things will be returning to life in our area before long. I’m happy for the extension of sunlight each day and with the time change that makes it even more enjoyable.
Did you get my email vote? My votes on the site were getting rejected… Not that it would have mattered either way….
Yes I got your email John and I totally forgot. I’m so sorry for the mess up. I just added yours. This makes it easy for everyone to see how the votes fell. Again, I’m sorry for missing you.
I miss instrumentals. There used to be so many on the radio surveys, and Green Onions was one of the best. I should put a green photo into my post for tomorrow. Alana ramblinwitham
Yeah, I’m with you on instrumentals. You just don’t hear much of them anymore unless it’s the oldies.
