This morning’s amazing talent hails from Malibu, California as a self-proclaimed singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist. She made her debuted album Coco (this is the nickname her parents pinned on her as a baby) in 2007 and popped up on my radar in 2010 sometime after I started blogging.
She did a duet with Jason Mraz in 2008, which earned her a Grammy. Received a nomination for a Grammy as Best Pop Vocal Album in 2010 and won as part of a collective group for Album of the Year for her background vocals and writing on Taylor Swift’s Fearless album.
Selling more than 6 million albums and 10 million singles worldwide, Billboard magazine (in 2009) name her the 94th best-selling music artist of the decade (2000-2009).
Turn up the volume and enjoy the best of the incomparable Colbie Caillat right here on Saturday Songsuasion!
Another good YouTube collection is The Best of Colbie Caillat (vid no longer available). It has many of the same songs as above, but it’s a nice listen.
Colbie’s recent album Gypsy Heart released last year includes her POP hit, Try. The essences of the song to a girl/woman is, you gotta like yourself the way you are, not the way the world sees you ~ very empowering and positive message!
A little trivia, did you know Colbie tried twice to get on American Idol? The first time, she froze up and couldn’t sing for the judges. The second time, she did an original song Bubbly and AI turned her down for a spot on the show. She blamed shyness and nervous for bombing out but her popularity on MySpace grew her profile to the #1 status for unsigned singers in her genre for 4-consecutive months.
That’s a wrap for this week. I hope you enjoyed your visit and I appreciate you including me in your weekend. Feel free to invite your friends to stop in for a listen. It’s a great feeling to share! Have a songsational Saturday!
What’s up next? Come back tomorrow for your weekly dose of laughter with Sunday Sillies!
