Robert Cray is in the house!

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Howdy, hi!  How was y’alls weekend?  Can you believe it’s October?  Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sunday!   This week’s theme is your choice song picksBack in June, you might recall I threw together a random playlist that included “Right Next Door (Because of Me).  John mentioned the album that the song is off of and after checking it out on YouTube, I just knew I had to share it.   Speaking of John, this month’s honorary co-host is none other than The Sound of One Hand Typing! 👏👏

I’m happy to say… Robert Cray is in the house, boys and girls!  Hit play to enjoy his 1986 album, Strong Persuader!

Song tracks: 1. Smoking Gun  2. I Guess I Showed Her  3. Right Next Door (Because of Me)  4. Nothin’ But A Woman  5. Still Around  6. More Than I Can Stand  7. Foul Play  8. I Wonder  9. Fantasized  10. New Blood

I don’t know what rock I was living under in the mid-80s but I sure do dig Robert’s bluesy vibe!  Do you know the man and his music?  Please share your favorite song title with me.  I’m always eager to sample new songs.

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

A couple of our 4M hostesses may be slow to boogie today.  Marie’s chronic back pain still plaques her and Stacy is recovering from Lasik’s surgery last Thursday.  Hopefully, she’s almost back to normal.  That’s a wrap for now.   My scheduled posts have run out on me and with my back against the all this week, I’ve elected to pull together a collage of blog hops into one Truly Terrific Tuesday post.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. Girlfriend, I have never heard of Robert Cray, but he’s so awesome. Your knowledge of music is impeccable my friend. So I was up really late last night finishing my blog and the next thing I knew daylight was coming & I hadn’t even slept yet. So, I did my grocery shopping first came home and dishes was next… NOPE, this weekend is the weekend to clean the fire hydrants so no water. What a BUMMER!!! so all day no water. So, I had some extra money from the groceries and coupons so we splurged and bought 3 towels with matching wash cloths & went through our towels and took the old cruddy ones and in the rag bag they went, and we even bought some new sheets for the bed & 2 new pillows. That was something I wanted to do for a long time. Anyway, going to try to get another day here in like my Tuesday giveaways if I can get anything, but that’s just a project for now. So off to visit even though I’m late I do get there to leave a message. I hope people look back on the pages, but if and when at least I’ll be there. So love ya so much my friend. I wish I could figure out why my blog when I post it not all comes through and the snow flakes are all over everything, but if you click on my page just anywhere it’s gone.. oh well, gotta keep working at it. Love ya girlfriend and have a great week. HUGS Great tunes!!! I’ll probably be back later to finish that one. Really cool! HUGS

  2. Awww on the coffee drinking kitty. So adorable.

    Love the video.

I love the quote. Spot on.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

  3. Hi Cathy, it’s hard to believe we’re already in October! 😲 Robert Cray is new to me, so, thank you for the introduction. I LOVE blues music and he does it SO well! 💖 “I Wonder” is probably my favourite track, but I enjoyed them all. Have a good week!

  4. I know a couple of Cray songs from (possibly) other Music Moves Me participants. I listened to the first five and liked them all. I’ll have to catch up on the rest later. Sending healing thoughts to both Stacey and Marie.

  5. Hi Cathy – We saw Robert Cray as an opening act for Eric Clapton many years ago. It was the first time I had heard any of Robert’s songs and while we were generally disappointed with the whole show – partly our fault for not realizing that it was going to be blues instead of rock and roll, but partly because Eric Clapton played very little and mostly stood aside while the rest of the band played, I did hear some Cray songs that I really liked. One of them is “I Shiver.” I’ll listen to your playlist in the studio today! Thanks.

  6. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend. I figured you must have forgotten to publish this post, because I’ve been looking for it since 6 am.

Awww! – that’s the best kitty pic meme I think I have ever seen. It’s the ideal illustration of a cat getting comfy on a chilly fall Monday morning.

i enjoyed your Robert Cray play list and, to answer your question, yessum, I am familiar with the man and his mewsic. I was working at that MTV style station when Cray broke onto the scene with “Smoking Gun.” We played that video heavily. His subsequent songs and vids were also popular, requested by viewers of our afternoon and evening veejay shows. I like Cray’s video for “Nothin’ But a Woman” featuring the lady who appears to toot her own horn at the end. I assume that was actually the playing of tenor sax musician Andrew Love.

Prayers offered for friends Marie and Stacy to bounce back to 100% soon. I’ll see you on TTT day next week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I thought I had this post set for 12am but instead it was 12pm, so when I noticed it I changed the time so it would publish. We slept in this morning. Yesterday, we spent all afternoon working in the yard. Actually it was only 4-hours but that was the most grueling 4-hours. lol We made a huge dent in the work needing attention but we it’s gonna take another Saturday probably to get the rest of it done and today’s raining so the lawn is getting watered. In a few days it’ll push up again looking like we hadn’t done a thing. roll eyes I declare, I think the next place we get that we might want to consider seriously to fence the property in so we get some goats to roam the property keeping the growth down. 🙂 Okay, we probably won’t go this far but I’m tempted and I’ve seen some folks who do use goats on the hilly portions of their land to keep it from becoming too wild which isn’t a bad idea. DH and I are achy today. I was a bit concerned how I would manage but I did okay considering.
I got some horrible cramps last night but I think I will be more recovered by tomorrow or Tuesday.

I’m glad you enjoyed today’s music set and I appreciated your positive vibes for my fellow 4Mers recovery. I’m sorry for the confusion of this post. I actually thought about the time issue late last night just as I got in bed but I wasn’t about to get up to check on it. This has happened previously when I updated my 4M posts to publish on Sundays. I guess I need to double check these again. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend. Have an easy Sunday afternoon!
