Rosanne Cash with Rules of Travel YouTube playlist

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.
Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

This week’s Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me theme is your choice song picks.   I’m not sure how it is I came to listen to It Ain’t Over Yet (Rodney Crowell featuring Rosanne Cash & John Paul White) awhile back but I had forgotten how nice Rosanne sounded or maybe I just didn’t appreciate her style like I did many country artists in the past.  I’ve come to appreciate yesterday’s music of all genres more the longer I live.  I thought it would be nice to sample more of Rosanne’s recent cuts when I found her album Rules of Travel on YouTube.

Playlist tracks:

  1. Beautiful Pain
  2. 44 Stories
  3. I’ll Change For You
  4. Rules of Travel
  5. September When It Comes
  6. Hope Against Hope
  7. Will You Remember Me
  8. Three Steps Down
  9. Closer Than I Appear
  10. Western Wall
  11. Last Stop Before Home

Do you know what #1 hit songs Rosanne charted? If you like me, then I can’t name one single but thankfully I can search the Internet for that answer. I was surprised to learn she had eight top chart titles.

*Rosanne’s #1 hits playlist:

  1. I Don’t Know Why You Don’t Want Me
  2. Never Be You
  3. The Way We Make A Broken Heart
  4. Runaway Train
  5. It’s Such A Small World
  6. If You Change Your Mind
  7. Tennessee Flat Top Box
  8. I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party

This month’s honorary co-hostess is….

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

The 4M honorary co-host slots are nearly filled up.  We still have available the month of October, so you’re interested in that time slot, please shoot me a request email to reserve it for you.  You’re welcome to browse through the 2021 Themes for ideas and to prepare future posts.  That’ll do it for today.   I want to thank everyone who’s danced with me this month and a special word of appreciation for those who came up with some fabulous music each week.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. Like father, like daughter, each in their own ways. I enjoy listening to some of Johnny Cash, and I liked a number of these songs. My favorite, I think, was “Runaway Train”. I’m not a big country fan (although I do like most songs that have crossed over into rock), but I can certainly appreciate Rosanne’s voice.

  2. Dearest friend, How are you & yours doing? I love, love, love Roseanne Cash. I donn’t know why you don’t want me is awesome!!! It really should go somewhere. Maybe if she gets enough hits on You Tube it might help. I’m gonna go there right now. Now here’s what’s goin’ on. Dave is finally making some progress because he wants too now I think I don’t know. He’s walking around the house with my old walker very well now and faster too. I’m personally beat! Cookin’, washing clothes (downstairs which takes me forever up and down the stairs with the bush), guess that’s good for me too getting so much exercise. Now I have been putting thought to a new blog in fact yesterday I almost got Gator something because it looked really cheap AT FIRST… HOLY COW I ALMOST GOT SUCKED INTO THAT ONE. It turned out to be $180 something dollars a year I think it was. I just cannot commit to that right now. So I’m trying to get ahold of Michael Golch too. He didn’t understand blogspot either. So I have to talk to Dave & see if I can get a night to myself and I’ll call you and maybe you & I can come up something good. Whatcha think? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!!!! You just let me know which night is good for you??? Thank you soooooooooooo much!!! YA MISS ME??? I MISS YOU AND OUR FELLOW MONDAY’S MUSIC MOVES ME BUDDIES! I’m gonna TRy to get to some of them today hopefully all. For now dishes have to be done. Sure was nice when I had help… I truly will appreciate him even more when he gets back in shape & I get some help. Those stairs are killin’ me for sure!!! Love ya girl & thank you for everything! HUGS, MARIE

    1. Marie,

All is well here, no complaints. I’m glad to read Dave is getting around. I know you’re probably extra tired of taking care of him, cooking, cleaning, and the finally the family Christmas get together.

Self hosting is costly. I’m with Arvixe and I think I pay about $180-$200 every two years. That cost bites but when you think about it the price averages about $10 or less per month and to do something I enjoy then it’s worth it. I may find a day when I can’t pay for it and I will have to consider using a free blog. You can get a wordpress.com free site just like you can with Blogspot. Remember to give me a call when you want and we can talk about these things if you want. 😉

  3. Very true about water and coffee. Nice song choices. And that kitty is adorable. XO

  4. I really like Rosanne Cash…honestly, I prefer her music to her father’s! Such a classic 80s country sound, Blue Moon with Heartache is my favorite.

    1. Melissa,

Rosanne usually stayed under my radar even in the early 80s when she had some chart toppers. Johnny Cash wasn’t my cup of tea but I grew to appreciate his worn, warm story-telling voice over the years. I couldn’t listen to his music all day but it’s really a nice change to hear some of his heart tugging songs.

    1. John,

I didn’t give Rosanne any thought until someone recently shared one of her songs and I was like, “Rosanne Cash…now that’s a name I had forgotten!”

  5. Awww on that cute kitten. Shower time.

Rosanne Cash has a great voice and she’s beautiful.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  6. I knew Rosanne Cash is Johnny’s daughter, but I never got into her music. Thanks for the introduction. She does have a lovely voice. Happy Monday!

    1. Nicole,

Hate you? Never! Hey, I don’t consider myself a Cash fan, unless it’s the green kind, but I do have a deeper appreciate for the Man in Black. He has a beautiful story telling voice. Although Rosanne was more pop than country she never lured me but after hearing her recently I thought it would be fun to refresh folks’ memories and awaken their senses with something different. 😉

  7. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a great weekend.

Looks like that awww-some kitty is getting all gussied up at the beauty parlor. 🙂

Rosanne Cash, daughter of Johnny Cash and his first wife, has been a household name since the late 70s. Can you believe she’ll turn age 66 a few months from now? I thoroughly enjoyed listening to these songs from her 2003 album. Big mewsical moments for me are “I’ll Change For You,” Rosanne’s duet with Steve Earle, and the sad song “September When It Comes,” a duet with her dad Johnny only a few months before he died, making it one of the last recordings of his lifetime. “Hope Against Hope” is another fine song.

Over the years I haven’t paid much attention to the Country chart, and therefore I didn’t realize Rosanne had eight #1 charting hits. I enjoyed the song block, especially “Runaway Train” and the duet with Rodney Crowell “It’s Such A Small World.” I remember Rosanne’s 1987 cover of her dad’s song “Tennessee Flat Top Box,” a hit for Johnny in early 1962. Rosanne’s video was played on the MTV style station where I worked at the time. She also did a great job covering The Beatles on “I Don’t Want to Spoil the Party.”

That water and coffee meme tells the truth. I’m on my second pot of the black stuff already this morning. 🙂 Thanks for the great mewsic by Rosanne Cash and the awww-some Monday smiles, dear friend Cathy. Have a wonderful week!

    1. Tom,

I’m struggling this week. I believe I’m a bit overloaded in what I’m trying to do and it’s weighing me down. For that, I’m sorry for not responding before now. Johnny and June were popular when I was a youngster. I didn’t know how to appreciate that old sound. I’m not sure when Rosanne came on the music scene but I remember her early stuff in the 80s or at least some of it. Although she was more pop than country, she never really won me over. I do appreciate her sound more today, though. I enjoyed your musical morsels which are always such a treat when you leave them here for me to read and I know others appreciate it as well. Well, my friend. I hope life is treating you well. Let scat for now. It’ll soon be dinner time and tonight we’re having breakfast for dinner. 😛
