Paul Bunyan NOT to Kitten Nightmare to Someone’s Birthday Wishes

Do you recall the leaning tree in our backyard DH & DS was working on? In short, they ran out of equipment to take that tree down. The top got tangled in some other trees making the task really difficult.

DS is tall but let’s face it… he’s no Paul Bunyan. If only he were, then the job would have been an easy peasy one, right?  Instead, it was my job to find a tree service to remove that tree. A not-so-easy job.

After calling a several tree removal services, we had a grand total of two to come out to give us a price estimate.

Company one…the guy took one look at the job and pretty much refused to do it without saying this. He simply stated he needed to talk to his tree climber and he never called me back. How unprofessional is that? Geez! In short, I think this guy really didn’t need the business or he was just a snob. The juror is still out on this.

Company two…Shaun Best and his assistant from Beautiful Tree Care came out late last Wednesday afternoon. He took a look at the job. “I can do it and get that tree down tonight.”

Impressed by his confidence, willingness to get the job done and at a fair price. We both were thinking, “Now… here is a man who not only wanted the job, but he took the initiative to jump right in on it.”

We hired him on the spot!  Now that we had someone we felt good about who is willing to do the job, we quickly pointed out several other trees that needed attention.  I…we like giving someone like this an opportunity to earn money. It’s a win-win situation for both of us.

I did not get any photos of Shaun removing the leaning tree in our backyard, but I did snap these pictures on Thursday.

It was amazing to watch these guys at work. I tried making a video of the top of the tree in the first photo being cut out when I realized I had not pressed the record button a little too late. I nearly hollered, “TIMBER!” as it made a loud crashing sound to the ground. It bummed me that I missed the chance to share that with you. It was pretty exciting to see it land only feet away from me. Don’t worry, I was safe inside the house watching from the door.

Shaun could have finished the job on Friday but that’s DH’s day off and we don’t have a good place to put our car for them to work. At my request, I asked Shaun to hold off til this week. This would simplify everything. Hopefully, as you’re reading this, then they are back on the job of bringing down these bad boys. Shaun would have come out on Monday had the weather cooperated, but it was a bust because it was a very sopping wet day, all day!

Someone is having a birthday later this week (Friday). She asked me to not say a thing about her special day because well… she didn’t want people to feel obligated to send her gifts or anything.  However, if you were wondering what to get her, here’s her wish list:

1.  A top of the line Lexus Sedan in red

2.  A 3500 + square foot dream home setting on 10-acres of wooded property

3. Forget 1 & 2.  Just send a $1 bill… one million of them to be precise, so she can buy the car and dream home of her choice

If none of these are achievable, then a happy birthday will suit her perfectly! Really, she isn’t that picky. I know her personally. 🙂

I hope your week is progressing smoothly. I cannot believe it’s almost the middle of December and Christmas is only 14-days away. It’s time to grab another cup of coffee, as I make my weekly Tuesday rounds!
