Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday!

As the gif says, ‘Pretty sure…I smell a Monday here!’ and by the time many of you see this it’ll, in fact, be Monday. We won’t dwell on that because Mondays mean mewsic and mewsic moves…ME!

This month, 🎶John from Driller’s Place🎶 is the 4M honorary co-host.  Our theme this week is your choice song picks, so anything goes. Have fun and get your boogie on!

Before I hit the dance floor with you gals and guys, I need to send warm wishes to someone special who has a lot of Heart & Soul (Larry Clinton) and born in the Summertime (Sidney Bechet) 81 years ago today.  Are you in a Boogie Woogie (Tommy Dorsey) mood? You should be.  When I look at old photographs of dark-haired handsome fellow,  I think You Must I Have Been a Beautiful Baby (Bing Crosby).  It’s so easy to see why Mommy fell in love with you.  Although I love DH ever so much, all I can say is, My Heart Belongs To Daddy (Mary Martin) first. 😉 *Top 100 Songs from 1938

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DADDY!🎂

A few months back Michele shared the song Heaven prompting me to want to hear more by the band, 3 Doors Down. The American hard rock band rose to international fame with their first single, Kryptonite (#7 on below playlist) peaking at number 3 on Billboard Hot 100 chart at the beginning of the millennium.  This isn’t my normal mewsic genre to listen to but it’s good to mix things up a bit, don’t you agree?  Hit play to listen to their YT playlist I came across and let me know what you think of this band. 😉

On behalf of the 4M crew,  we’re so happy you joined our party today and invite you to link your 🎶mewsic posts🎶 below. You’re welcome to add the linky code to your blog and if you would, please add a link back to the 4M (Marie, Stacy, Alana, Colette, or Cathy) hostess of your choice.  All other posts are subject for immediate removal or labeled NO MUSIC.

ATTENTION!!! Would you like to be an honorary co-host? If so, shoot me an email or leave me a comment saying ‘YES, sign me up!’ and I’ll secure the next available month for you then send you the details. 😉

[tweetthis]Hit the #MondaysMusicMovesMe dance floor with me! @xmasdolly [/tweetthis]

Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon.  Until next week same time, same place… have a sparkletastic day!  😉

  1. Hi Cathy :)) Happy birthday to your Dad!!! 81 years young! 🙂
I used to listen to 3 Doors Down, I remember Kryptonite. That was the style of music I mostly listened to in the 90’s! Alex is a musician, he mostly plays ambient and it’s so nice to listen too, that’s more my style these days! Hope you’re having a nice week! 🙂

    1. Rain,

Thank you for wishing my daddy happy birthday. The years sure do go by fast, don’t they? Is Alex a local or professional mewsician? What instrument does he play? Does he sing? You’ve piqued my curiosity. DH played the drums when he was younger but hasn’t touched them in years. We actually have them in storage. Purrhaps, when we get into a bigger place we can set them up. Hmmm, I might want to think now that we have a granddaughter. lol

      1. Hey Cathy 🙂 Drums? That’s kind of cool! Too bad he hasn’t played in a while. Alex plays a lot, in fact we recently converted one of the bedrooms to his music studio and he has a 7-string guitar he just bought – for some ungawdly reason it takes 2 months to get it!!! He plays guitar and bass and records ambient instrumental music, kind of soundtrack style mewsic. He’s not big on promotion but I asked him if I could send you a link to his mewsic and he’s most proud of this album :Echoes From Forgotten Hearts. Here is a YT playlist if you’re interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuUr-jWZHng&list=PLfpaSPmMQ1dPPN8AziwMoJQ0oaB7Rt74S
He’s working on a new album now and hopes to finish it by end of year. I’m pretty proud of him 🙂 Thanks so much for asking! 🙂

        1. Rain,

I’m honored that Alex let you share his YT mewsic with me. I listened to it this morning while I worked on future 4M posts. His ambient recordings would make excellent arrangements as background mewsic for movie scenes. I discovered his track, Moments of Intimacy. The audio and visual melts all barriers allowing calm to fill my brain’s cavity. Best of luck to him with his newest recording endeavor and have a funtastic weekend!

  2. Happy Birthday all the way from England Cathy’s Daddy!!!!! And thanks so much for introducing me to this band – will be looking for more of their stuff now. You should get commission from the record companies! A sparkletastic day to you too. Fight a Care Bear 😂😂😂 You crack me up!!!

    1. Gilly,

Thank you for the bday wishes for my pops! I’m happy to introduce you to a new band. Hey, I like the way your mind works. I should get a commission for recommending or mentioning mewsical guests on my blog, shouldn’t I? lol Oh well…I guess the privilege to enjoy their mewsic via YT at no additional cost will do for now. 😉 Have a boogietastic week!

  3. Happy Birthday to your Pop. I love that song “Runaway Train” by Soul Asylum. We didn’t participate this week; in fact, we didn’t even post today. TW had an idea but it died of loneliness cos it wasn’t such a good idea. Maybe I should focus on one artist. She’s too busy on FB posting 10 album covers a day or something cos her friend challenged her.

    1. Keisha,

That’s alright that y’all couldn’t play along. Sometimes other thing social media things take precedence and that’s ok. It’s all in fun. Just remember whatever mewsic moves you make us happy, so if the theme isn’t movin’ you the right way then just go with what does. We aren’t mewsic snobs. 😉 Thanks for the happy birthdays to my daddy. You mentioned ‘Runaway Train’ by Soul Asylum and I thought purrhaps, it was one of the other artists that got mixed into the YT playlist I used (I didn’t make it) but it’s not, so I searched for it so I could listen to it. Anywho, I appreciate the introduction to a new song. The video flashes names of kids who are missing, so I gather the song is about runaway kids. That breaks my heart to think about. How sad to think of children living on the street. It shouldn’t be that way. Thanks for stopping in for some boogie time, dearie!

  4. Oh my gosh, I could remember when I was a little girl I sang that song “My Heart belongs to daddy” to my dad. hahahaha OMG I’M SO OLDDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!! hahahaha Love all tunes here and especially love your Post. I read the whole thing and girl you are right on the money!!! WOO HOO! GOTTA LUV YA!!!!! I don’t know the 3 doors tunes. They’re definitely a new-bees for me! Gotta run and get to our next guests. Hugs to you & R you’re duh best & thank R to for letting me borrow more time of you then I should’ve for helping me. You guys are the very best. HUGS

    1. Marie,

Ahh, that’s so sweet that you used to sing “My Heart Belongs to Daddy”. I don’t remember if I sang to my pops or not but both of us did sing out ‘happy birthday’ to him when we called last night. lol I’m glad to introduce you to 3 Doors Down. I can’t remember how I discovered them but I’m fairly sure someone on the dance floor did. Oh, darlin’ I’m more than happy to help you out. That’s what friends do when they can, you know? I’m gonna boogie each week, so why not do this little thing for ya? No biggie really. I’m just glad that I”m have the time to do it and DH is a.ok with me doing my blogging thingy. He’s totally supportive and thinks it’s great that I have this outlet. I’m glad you’re feeling better. God be praised for your improvement. Thanks for stopping by to dance with me, my dear. Have a boogietastic week!

      1. Well, we were a singing family. I also sang a tune Gingerbread by Frankie Avalon to my Dad & he use to make me sing for the family (I was really little). Anyway, I did say Happy Birthday to your Daddy on Facebook. I saw that you did there so I chimed in. WOW He sure does NOT look his age AND was that your mama? Both your parents are quite the lookers I must say so I see where you get your beauty from. Oh, and I gave him some birthday balloons!!! ~hehehe~ Wow, you’re the best about our Mondays. Love you Chickeeee Have a great Tuesday. It’s raining buckets here and actually this is the first good rain we’ve had here shhhhhhhhh I may give us the whammmeeeee on that one so shhhhhhhhh. Although we live on a hill so I don’t think we’ll have any probs I hope. Have a great day Chickeeeeeeee HUGS

        1. Marie,

Yeah, I saw where you sent my daddy birthday wishes on FB. That was so sweet of you. Thanks! Yep, that’s my folks in that picture. They had a little celebration with Daddy’s cousin, James. His birthday is a few days earlier than Daddy’s. When we called to wish Daddy happy birthday, I asked him about that and he said James always likes to visit Daddy or to share their birthdays together. Yes in my FB cover page photo those are my parents. I stole the pix from my niece who shared it. She and her family live on a piece of property just above my folks that once belonged to my late brother (her papa). I have to agree with you, my parents are nice looking people. I have an old photograph of them when they were dating which I love. Daddy always makes me think of an old classic 50s star with his wavy hair and he certainly was handsome enough to have swoon the women over on the big screen. I remember when I was little how everyone would go on about how beautiful my mommy is. She is pretty but I think her warm purrsonality makes her even prettier. Her heart is as big as they come! No rain here but I betcha will get some this weekend. Have a good day, dearie!

  5. I was introduced to 3 Doors Down about 10 years ago while playing RockBand. I’ve always liked their sound. Have a fantastic week!

    1. Mary,

Maybe it was you who introduced 3 Doors Down to me. In recent weeks I’ve started to keep notes on how I come across a song/band that’s new so when I do use it on my site then I can thank the purrson who brought the sound to my ears. Is RockBand a video game? Thanks for boogieing with me, dearie!

  6. Pawkisses for a Happy Birthday to your Dad, CK. Hope you all have a wonderful day😺
We love the 3 Doors Down and some good music too in the ’30 😀 That kitty is beyond Aww…MOL😹Pawkisses for a Happy Week ahead to all of you🐾😽💞

  7. Happy Birthday to your Daddy, Cathy! 🎈 May he “live long and prosper” as Mr, Spock would say. Thanks for the 3 Doors Down playlist. “Kryptonite” is a favourite song! I see the playlist includes some great songs from other bands as well. Thanks! I’ll be putting it on auto play. 🎧 Happy summer days! 🌞

    1. Debbie,

Thanks for the bday wishes for Daddy. I hope he has a long life, too. He’s been a bit on my mind with some new health concerns. A few months back he had to have his gallbladder removed. It was full of infection and could’ve ruptured which surely would’ve killed him but the good Lord had His hands’ on my pops. While in the hospital they discovered a problem with his heart. He has a low heartbeat. Sounds like a pacemaker might be in store for in the near future but I haven’t heard anything definite yet. DH & I called last night to talk to him. We even sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to him. 🙂 It’s always a joy to speak with him.

The playlist I did not create and it wasn’t until putting it on my site that I noticed the other artists mixed in. So, I just went with it as I didn’t want to create a playlist feeling a bit pushed or lazy or a little of both to do it. That’s okay, I’m on hiatus, right? 😉 Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, my friend.

  8. Happy Birthday to your dad. Enjoy your phone visit with him this evening. I sure miss mine, he was my first best friend and keeper of my secrets. 🙂

  9. Happy 81st to your father! My Dad would have been 105 today if he was still alive. He probably would have enjoyed your old-time links. I’ll have to save listening to most of your playlist until later but enjoyed some of the 3 Doors Down songs, especially the third one (the one that was a vdeo of them entertaining the troops. I also saw that you had some other groups at the end of your playlist. I am a big Shinedown fan and I love the song “Second Chance” – there’s so much truth in it. Have a great week, Cathy and thank you for the dances!

    1. Alana,

Was your daddy’s birthday yesterday? 105 would have been a remarkable milestone to reach. There aren’t too many who make past their 80s. The playlist I shared is one that I found already available on YT. There are some different artists on it but I didn’t want to make one myself as I was feeling a bit lazy. 🙂 Thanks for boogieing with me, my friend!

  10. Happy Birthday to your Daddy! I love Three Doors Down. 🙂 Have a wonderful week! XO

  11. Happy birthday to your father! Three Doors Down is pretty good, but I feel the same: not really my style.

You know the bear I want to fight? Teddy Ruxpin! I always wanted to put a Redd Foxx party tape in one…

  12. Fun, Cathy. You know I used to teach dance–classical. So I’m right out there dancing with you if it’s a tango, merengue, even a Paso Doble.

  13. We kind of like 3 Doors Down but we like the original Doors too. Happy Birthday to your special Daddy from all of us.

    1. Mimi,

Thanks for the bday wishes for Daddy. I noticed on FB yesterday that they had an early celebration along with his cousin who I didn’t know shared a bday with him. I will call Daddy later this evening to wish him a happy birthday. It would be nice leaving closer to my folks at times like this but that’s the way things go, though. At least long distance calling isn’t a big deal anymore. Have a great day!

  14. Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! Apart from my self-imposed blogging breaks, I think this is the longest I have ever gone Cathyless. I was experiencing painful withdrawal.:)

Happy birthday to your daddy! Please remind him that 81 is the new 18. 🙂 You presented some excellent mewsical numbers that were popular around the time your dad was born. What a refreshing sound for the early morning hours to be treated to a medley of tunes from the big band era! Until now, the only versions of “Heart And Soul” I ever paid attention to were the covers recorded in the rock ‘n’ roll era by The Cleftones and Jan & Dean. It was a pleasure to watch and listen to that nicely preserved 1939 performance of the Hoagy Carmichael/Frank Loesser song by Bea Wain fronting Larry Clinton’s Orchestra. I am delighted that you time traveled back ever farther to bring us “Summertime,” The George Gershwin song penned in 1934 and introduced in the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. More than 25,000 artists have recorded “Summertime” and I enjoyed this rendition played by Jazz musician Sidney Bechet who began his recording career just before Louis Armstrong got started. The Swing Era hit parade continues with Tommy Dorsey doing “Boogie Woogie” a big band instrumental recorded in early September,1938, shortly after your father was born. That same year the Binger waxed “You Must Have Been A Beautiful Baby,” an ideal choice for your daddy’s birthday tribute. As a child I watched Broadway star Mary Martin on TV in the title role of Peter Pan. It was wonderful to see and hear Mary perform Cole Porter’s “My Heart Belongs to Daddy,” a song written for the 1938 musical Leave It to Me! For those who didn’t know, Mary Martin was the mother of actor Larry Hagman who rose to fame on I Dream Of Jeannie and became even more famous as J.R. Ewing on Dallas. Going down the list of Top 60 Pop Songs of 1938, I looked for other songs like “Heart And Soul” that were updated in the rock ‘n’ roll era. I found “September Song” which was recorded by The Magnificent Men” and many others. “Deep Purple” was a hit in 1963 for Nino Tempo & April Stevens and in 1975 for Donnie & Marie. The British rock band Deep Purple took their name from the song.

You pulled one of my “jarring juxtapositions” in this post by shifting gears to the alternative rock sound of 3 Doors Down. I enjoyed their song set, especially those moments when they sang and played with greater power and authority. I was especially taken by the song and video for “Loser” which seems to be about the challenges of high school life, peer pressure, bullying, self-doubt, drug abuse, etc.

Once again, happy 81st birthday to your daddy, dear friend Cathy! Have a tunetastic week ahead!

    1. Tom,

Thanks for hitting the dance floor with me yesterday. I miss you and all my regulars in Blogosphere dearly but I keep reminding myself the semi-hiatus is what I need and so far I’m enjoying my time away. I appreciate your sentiments and value your friendship. The big band era is a delightful fun change compared to the noise…oops mewsic that we’re accustomed to. I love being transported back in time with these sorts of nostalgic sounds. That was a cool tidbit about Mary Martin. I had no idea she was Hagman’s mama. Of the songs I shared, I was a bit surprised to learn how old ‘Heart & Soul’ is because I only knew of the rock version up until this time. I love learning about songs that I thought originated from the rock era are actually much older. I love that you shared so many interesting facts with me and my readers.

Yeah, I’d say I certainly did pull one of your stunts with the contrasting mewsic styles. That kinda bothered me initially I had my 4M playlist in place already but I wanted to pay a bday tribute to my pops. So, inside of two separate playlists I decided to use links to each song for those interested in checking them out. I knew the more authoritative tracks by 3 Doors Down would most appeal to you whereas I like the more mellow sound of some of their selections in this playset. I’m glad you the YT 3 Doors Down playset.

Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
