#NationalBatteryDay inspired #music theme!

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

How was your weekend? I’m so happy you decided to join me this morning.  DH is off today because it’s a holiday (Presidents Day), which means I’m spending it with him.  Not to worry, I’ll be by your place bright and early tomorrow morning.

This month, I’m the 4M honorary co-host. In short, this means, I get to choose the themes for February. Today, I’m using the National Days calendar again for inspiration.  The events are National Battery, Drink Wine,  Crab Stuffed Flounder, and Presidents Day.   Before we get started, let’s listen to this word from our sponsor.

Are you ready to boogie?

I thought the first choice sounded like an interesting if not challenging one to go with and so that’s how my theme came to be.  Besides the obvious prompt ‘BATTERY’, which I very much wanted to use, my choices were limited. I immediately came across the 1987 movie soundtrack, *batteries not included but there wasn’t a song title on it for my prompt. I continued my search. The other keywords proved difficult (smoke, alarm, & charge) but in the end, I found a few tunes to share in this short playlist. I invite you to hit play and enjoy!

The National Day calendar suggests using this time to do a ‘Battery Check‘. You don’t want any ‘False Alarms‘ and you certainly don’t want things going ‘Up In A Puff Of Smoke‘. I’m sure if the smoke alarm could talk it would say,  ‘Charge Me Up‘. Do your batteries need replacing?

The only song on my playlist I know is Polly Brown’s 1975 top-ten hit song, “Up in a Puff of Smoke’.  Does anyone other than me think KT Tunstall style & song reminds you a bit of Sheryl Crow?

Please join  XmasDolly (4M Brain Child) and my fellow 4M Co-hostesses Stacy,  Alana, & Colette on the dance floor.

🎶This is a MEWSIC ONLY linky party. All non-mewsic posts are subjected for removal or labeled – NO MEWSIC🎶

I’d like to invite you to vote for your favorite artist 2019 #BoTB Round 4 America VS Captain & Tennille in the ‘Muskrat Love’ Showdown. Keep those tunes playing, your body swaying, and I’ll be boogieing over to see you soon.  Have a sparkletastic day!  😉

  1. Nice job as always, Cathy! What’s funny is that Energizer Bunny video was suggested to me by my hubby – but I couldn’t find it, so I’m glad you did! 🙂 Excellent choices for a most unusual theme! 🙂 Hope you have a marvelous week!

  2. Oh I’ve been a lagging.
I feel as if there should be something special done for Presidents’ day. I wonder if they do that in schools.

Thanks for sharing the music. I’m musically challenged these days but it’s just because of fatigue and life. But I’ll visit and listen.

    Have a blessed week!

    1. Colette,

I don’t know what kids do for Presidents’ Day anymore. It used to be they had separate holidays for Lincoln and Washington’s birthdays but not anymore. I like to hope that they do recognize who’s birthdays we celebrate. It’s not a day for all presidents as it has come to be known in recent years. I hope the fatigue lifts soon for you, my dear. I know what’s like to be tired all the time and you just can’t get much of anything done. Try to rest when you can, dearie!

  3. We remember the pink Bunny…how could we not, he never stopped…MOL😹Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead and ♪♫♪Thank you for the Music♪♫♪♫🐾😽💞

    1. I think everyone remembers that bunny! lol That commercial is fun and it brings back some good memories. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, love!

  4. I had some challenges with my own playlist, but am happy with it. Thanks for making me have to really think with these themes of yours! It’s been a lot of fun to play along. All your selections were new to me!

    1. Kim,

It’s great being challenged, don’t you agree? It always makes it just a little more interesting and fun to see what you can come up with in the mix. Thanks for dancing with me, my friend!

    1. Mimi,

Isn’t that the truth about comparison! I wish we knew this truth when we were younger. The sooner a person realizes that he/she can’t be like someone else and important to love his/herself. We should never allow anything to consume us as that is when it becomes dangerous. Unfortunately, some don’t understand this. 🙁

  5. We love Energizer Bunny commercials because it is a rabbit, and sometimes Mom calls us Energizer Bunnies because we just won’t stop! Enjoy the holiday. We don’t have the day off at our house, so we’ll be working and going to class as usual.

  6. The energizer bunny – wow that goes back a long way. I don’t know who K Tunstall is , never heard of her. And that dog and kitten – so cute.

  7. Very sweet photo for awww Mondays. Nice music choices. Enjoy your time with DH. XO

  8. Looks like there is plenty of room under those bloodhound ears for the kitten to take refuge. KT Tunstall is new to me but I found her music to my liking. It seems like life can be filled with false alarms. Like you, I had a tough time finding appropriate music so I resorted to word association to come up with music to post. Have a blessed week.

    1. Driller,

That bloodhound is a safe haven for that kitten and is such a sweet capture. 🙂 I agree life can be filled with false alarms, some accidental and other orchestrated. I hate when someone cries wolf, those false alarms I can do without. I hate drama!

  9. The first two songs were new to me and the last two were songs I hadn’t heard in nearly forever, so this was a nice set. I enjoyed learning about Millencolin from one of your commenters. We’re hanging out here waiting for another snowstorm to come. Why do all the great sunny days precede snowstorms? Hope no one ends up with a dead battery. Enjoy the weekend, Cathy.

    1. Alana,

Oh yikes, another snow storm! I hope your power stays on but if not I hope you have an alternate heat source and lots of fresh batteries for your flashlights. Thanks for boogieing with me! 😉

  10. Aw on the pup and kitty. That’s adorable. I’ve already linked you to Awww Mondays.

I love the energizer bunny. I remember those commercials. What a fond memory.

Love the video. I don’t think I’ve heard that before.

Thank you for joining the Awww Monday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous day with your honey. Big hug. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Thank you for adding me to your linky party. I’m so glad you decided to stop by to dance with me. I’ve been on pawse this weekend but am trying to catch up with some folks today. I’m heading your way shortly!

  11. I love Millencolin’s song because it is something from my time in high school (yes, I am so young, shhh). But, ska punk and punk rock was a thing back in those days. This is interesting #M post and I wrote one. It will hit tomorrow!

    1. Amy,

Yes, you’re a youngster! lol I’m glad you knew Millencolin. Discovering new mewsic is part of the fun. I’m happy I sparked some high school memories for you.

  12. Hi, Cathy!

Happy 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend!

That picture of the kitten enjoying the warmth and safety of the hound dog’s ear is priceless!

I forgot about that 60 second spot with a double fake ending as the Energizer bunny crashes two other “commercials.” It was a clever ad campaign, an idea never tried before, and it worked.

You traveled the globe to find singers and songs to fit your theme. Millencolin is a Swedish punk rock band with an exciting alternative sound. I see they also perform in the categories of “skate punk,” a style of mewsic related to the skate culture, and “ska punk,” a fusion of ska and punk. KT (Kate) Tunstall is from Scotland, and her style categories include alt rock, folk rock and “folktronica,” a blend of folk mewsic and electronica. I love Polly Brown. As you might recall, I featured her in a 2014 post about her band Pickettywitch on Shady Dell Music & Memories:

    https://shadydell.blogspot.com/2014/07/puffin-with-pickettywitch-polly-brown.html

I don’t remember the song “Charge Me Up,” but the rock band Faster Pussycat came to the studios of the MTV style station where I worked in the 80s and were interviewed by the veejay who hosted our hard rock/heavy metal segment.

It was very kind of you to set aside time to extend birthday greetings to my cousin Paula on a Saturday evening. I appreciate that very much and I know she did, too. You are a great friend, Cathy. Have a wonderful week!

    1. Tom,

Yes, I do remember your Polly Brown feature from 2014. Actually, you mentioned this post to me in November 2017 since I used Polly in a BoTB that month. I left a comment stating you have two broken YT videos and since you didn’t respond to it, then I think you may have gotten a notification that I came by, as well the links are still not working. Hopefully, you’ll see my reply here. 🙂

How cool the veejay at your station interviewed Faster Pussycat. I never heard of them before putting this playlist together. I hope your cousin had a lovely birthday. You sure did add a bit of specialness to her day with your tribute post which I thought was so sweet. Thanks for sharing the dance floor with me, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!

      1. Hi again, Cathy!

Yessum, when I revisited my 2014 Pickettywitch post yesterday I discovered your 2017 comment. Until recently when I created my new site, I did not receive a notification whenever a comment came in on an archived post. Here is my reasoning on broken links in old posts. YouTube will drive you crazy if you let it. It is hard enough to keep embedded videos running the week of a post’s publication. It would require me to work all day every day to go back and replace every missing video in every post I ever published. Therefore, my policy is that once a post is off the front page of my blog, all bets are off, and I assume that anyone interested enough to look at an old post will also be willing to take a few extra seconds and visit YouTube to listen to a missing vid.

Yessum, we had a cool TV station and welcomed many of the biggest names in rock and metal during the 80s and 90s, among them Faster Pussycat, a band named after the famous Russ Meyer film.

My cousin Paula emailed me and told me how thrilled she was with your comment and the comments of others. Thanks a million for coming through for her, Cathy!

        1. Tom,

You’re absolutely right about the broken YT links driving a person nuts but a few years ago I installed the Broken Links plugin on my site just for this reason. While you’re certainly correct there won’t be many people going back to looking at old posts but it drives me nuts when the video is pulled so I have to fix it on my site. I also use these times a good time to make other correction or more searchable or to at mention the name of the song where the video is just in case I can’t remember what was there, to begin with because it’s hard sometimes to know what I used. At least you knew about the links. I just wanted you to know in case you wanted to replace them. Thanks for sharing how much my comment and that of the others meant to Paula. I think everyone deserves a little special treatment on his/her bday and you really made Paula’s shine, I’m sure.
