My teeth are chattering

I used to hear old timers say things like this all the time. Ha-Ha!

Seriously, it’s so cold my teeth are chattering.  I’m not sure what they are saying but they’re talking up a storm.  Oops, wash my mouth out with soap!  I hope I didn’t curse us by using that dirty word ‘storm’.  There is a chance of snow but I sure hope it doesn’t happen.  There are different levels of Hell and we’re living in the frozen stage which is sheer misery.  I’m so tired of winter.  Laughing is a good way to warm up, so join me in these Friday Funnies. Please sit your hot beverages down before continuing.  Thank you!

Speaking of Hell….yesterday Tom shared an old song “Sock It To Me, Baby” by Mitch Ryder And The Detroit Wheels.  For some reason Flip Wilson came to mind prompting me to find a clip of him using the phrase. Instead, I found his “The Devil Made Me Do It” routine from The Ed Sullivan Show.  A comedian whose funny without uttering one swear or nasty word. Imagine that?!

Moving along to some cold weather humor.  The forecast today….

Say what, Maxine?  My brain is too frozen!

I realized I have two reasons to be thankful this morning.   One, I don’t live in a super snowy place and two, we don’t have little people living under our roof anymore.  I’m pretty sure if either of these things applied then I’d be like this.

I have no problem believing this if toddler could drive.

My responses to Friday Friendly Fill-ins hosted by Ellen at 15andMeowing and Lorraine at Four-Legged Furballs.

  1. Right now the return of spring  is music to my ears.  Seriously, I’m so tired of winter.  Go away, please!
  2.  My favorite kind of soup is a toss between chicken noodle and tomatoAlthough, I like soup, I’m not a big soup eater.  I prefer stew or chili and even then I commonly fix these things when the weather is colder.
  3.  If I were going to migrate or hibernate for the winter, I would go to Miami, FloridaThat might be a little too extreme but I know the temperatures that far south are really warm in the winter generally and I’m tired of being cold.
  4. I would have two homes in two locations, one for warm weather and another for cold weather if I could afford it.  Unfortunately, I or we can’t afford such a luxury, but if we could then you betcha we’d have a home in Florida for the winter months, perhaps a home in Maine for the summer months, and if money wasn’t an object then I’d still have a home in east Tennessee.

  1. Those were great funnies and terrific fill-in answers too. The Dad remembers Flip Wilson and Mitch Ryder too!

  2. Thank you for your fill-in answers, I enjoyed them. Sorry you are so cold. I think I will have tomato soup and grilled cheese for lunch tomorrow. Have a nice weekend. XO

  3. I can relate, Cathy. Winter sucks and I hope it goes away soon. Not gonna happen here! 🙁 After that major blizzard on Jan. 11, we have a ton of snow on the ground and it’s way colder than usual. Right now, at 4:30 pm we have 10F(with the windchill factor)! 🥶 Just to give you a little perspective. 😉 It appears that temps are lower than normal everywhere, at the moment. I love the funnies and the song parody was cute too. When you’re young you don’t feel the cold nearly as much. 😀 We used to watch Flip Wilson’s variety show. He sure was a funny guy. Stay warm and have a good weekend!

  4. It’s teeth chattering cold here too, but at least we don’t get snow. The 100% coffee sounds good to me.

  5. Sorry it’s so cold, Cathy. I know you’ll be warm in your home.

Love your fill-ins and love your idea of having a winter home in the warmth and a summer home in the warmth too. That’s a great idea. I can’t afford it either.

I loved Flip Wilson. I never missed his shows.

Love the Feline Friday kitty. That’s adorable.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Love and hugs. ♥

  6. Hi, Cathy! It’s coffee all day for me and hubby! It’s a whopping 30 degrees in my neck of the woods. Woooeee! I love your funnies today, especially the last one with the cat! Stay warm and cozy! 😘

  7. Hi, Cathy!

I’m here for a heaping helping of Friday Fun Stuff, dear friend!

It must really be bad up your way, and that probably means we’re next in line for bitter cold. I just went outdoors with our kitty Bootsie-Wootisie to let him use his litter, and found that it is actually the mildest morning we’ve had in the last week. I’m sure by tamale or the next day it will be noticeably colder again. Your mention of teeth chattering reminds me of the last time I traveled back up north to PA. It was 20 years ago when I went up to attend my dad’s funeral. A service was held in early January at the cemetery on a windswept hillside. The temp was 17 degrees and, with the wind factored in, it felt a lot colder. My brother stood next to me at the service. He later remarked that he noticed me shaking as the minister spoke and thought that I was breaking down because I was overcome by emotion. I kinda laughed and told him no – I was shivering because it was so dang cold. Anyway, I hope you don’t get hit with another snowstorm, and I very much hope you don’t lose electric power with the temperature that low!

Thanks for mentioning me again this morning, dearie. I well remember Flip Wilson’s “The Devil Made Me Do It” routine. As I’m sure you noticed, the audience came to life and was primed for laughter as soon as Flip shifted gears and started doing his “Geraldine” character’s voice and mannerisms. It’s no wonder he worked Geraldine into his stand-up routines and made her a fixture on his TV show.

Yessum, no matter what the weather, every day’s forecast calls for a 100% chance of strong black coffee and lots of it. I enjoyed all your cold weather related cartoons. You’ll hate me for saying so, but I am not eager for the end of winter or the coming of spring. I like winter time in Florida and I think you would, too. I can understand why you would want a winter home down here and perhaps a summer home in Maine. On a cold winter day, I enjoy a steaming hot bowl of soup with “oyster crackers” sprinkled on top. Do you eat those little oyster crackers? Mrs. Shady loves to make large kettles of soup from scratch and I love to taste them. We often freeze leftover soup in sealed plastic pouches that I can thaw for lunches weeks later.

That parody by the Holderness Famiy reminds me of those two young men I told you we saw at the airport at 5 am Tuesday. As I told you, Mrs. Shady, her son and I were bundled up like Eskimos as we walked through the parking garage toward the terminal, and those two guys strolled past us in shorts and t-shirts.

Yessum, I’ll be back tamale and please remind me that you have two separate posts so that I don’t miss one. Until then, have a wonderful day and keep warm, dear friend Cathy!
