Monday Morning Musings #12

Ahhh, yes, I know it’s Tuesday NOT Monday, but yesterday I was nowhere near Blogosphere because DH had the day off for MLK. Let’s face it, DH is my best friend and I love spending time with him!

Yesterday, it was absolutely gorgeous here in the Tennessee Valley with rich blue skies over head and lots of sunshine. Our highs peaked at 67°. There was a slight breeze which packed a bit, but when the winds were calm and the sun on your skin it felt like spring not winter.

Mother Nature being the woman that she is has changed her mind how she wants to do the winter weather. Although, we have sunny skies this morning our temperatures will be dropping today as another cold front settles in for the next several days.

The playoffs are over. My two teams on Sunday won. That means the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will go head-to-head in Super Bowl XLVIII. If you have read my posts for a while, then you know we have been Peyton Manning fans ever since the day he played for the University of Tennessee. So, you can guess who we will be rooting for on February 2nd, right?

Sunday’s weigh in proved to be a high point for me. The scales declared a 1.5 pound loss. That makes me very happy. Now to keep the momentum moving forward at this pace. That’s the tricky part. To keep my focus I plan is to constantly remind myself what I am trying to do and that is to be a 105. That’s where I was last summer, but I fell off my training & diet bandwagon last fall straight through the holidays.

That’s all water under the bridge. I am ready to set things right. The good thing is, I have a renewed confidence that I will reach my goal by the end of March, if not before then. At times like this I wish I had the metabolic rate of my 20-something self, but those years have long been gone and I have to stay two steps ahead of the game to keep my weight from spiraling out of control.

Enough rambling already, you say. Alrighty, grab a cup of your favorite hot beverage while you settle in to read my responses to a few of my favorite Monday memes on Monday Morning Musings!

My first blog hop takes me to Stasha from The Good Life has a fun Monday Listicles prompt. Today, Karen requested that we give our list of:  10 things to do during the weekend.
  1. Watch TV. Recently, we discovered the Desperate Housewives on Netflix and have enjoyed this series a lot.
  2. Catch up on much-needed sleep. The weekends are our only time to sleep in. DH has problems with his sleep habits. Sometimes he will wake up and not be able to fall asleep again for an hour or more. This can happen any day of the week. So, it’s nice to not have to worry with a 5am alarm on the weekend.
  3. A trip to the mountains. The Smoky Mountains & Blue Ridge Parkway are a short drive away. This is a great get-away spot for the day. I am actually itching to take a trip soon!
  4. A visit to see our parents. When we were first married, we would visit our families at least once a month and we would spend the entire weekend, but anymore we have turned this into a day trip with aging parents we don’t want to inconvenience them with extra chores. I am happy that we live close enough to do this.
  5. Photo shoot. We live in an area where there are many good things nearby to photograph. I am looking forward to the return of spring and the beautiful Dogwood blossoms.
  6. Sorting or clean up projects with DH. Some things can only be done with the hubs while he’s here on the weekend. This is not necessarily my favorite way to spend the weekend, but it’s gotta be done.
  7. Wash the car. The first sign of spring, we seriously need to do just this. We have taken the car through an automatic car wash a time or two already this winter to get some of the salt off our vehicle, but it can’t compete with a good old fashion hand washing job.
  8. Make a home-made cocoa or latte. One of those cozy things I like to do during the winter on the weekends is sip on hot beverages while watching TV.
  9. Fun shopping. Now, that DH work schedule has changed we look to only do light fun shopping on the weekend, which I am totally liking. We now save buying groceries through the week after he gets home early one afternoon and that’s actually kinda nice to do, too. Breaks up my week a bit.
  10. Internet research discussion. Often times, I do my internet product digging during the week and then on the weekend when we have time, DH and I talk over what I found out to make decisions on what items to purchase from my discoveries.

Next, let’s visit Heather. Each week, she puts on loan FOUR QUESTIONS for anyone to borrow and answer for your blog post, and then she gives you the option to add a fifth question of your own for those who are visiting your blog to answer in the comment section, along with commenting on the four questions you answered. Don’t forget to grab the MQAM badge for your blog or post or both from Acting Balanced blog!

1. Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day from the US! Do you have a favorite MLK quote?

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. Read MLK quotes here.

2. Wayne told Heather to get the questions up early because we’d be exhausted from our trip… she didn’t listen to his good advice, so MQAM is late – when was the last time you didn’t listen to good advice?

I would have to say there is a piece of advice given to me at least weekly that I fail to take seriously and then regret that I chose to ignore or simply accidentally forget it. Usually in the wake of something going wrong is when I smash myself in the forehead realizing that I should have listened to words of wisdom given.

3. Since we talked about Movies last week, let’s talk TV this week – what show or shows do you wish was still on TV that ended or got cancelled?

Oh, this is an easy one. 24 ended in 2010 but is returning in May 2014 as a 12-episode miniseries. I am so excited to see Jack Bauer back in action. This time on the streets of London. I am not precisely sure what the pilot will be, but you know it will have something to do with protecting the US president or America or her ally or all three!

4. What is your personal anthem or theme song?

Gee, I don’t think I have one. Should I? I’m gonna have to  think on this and see if I can find a personal anthem.

My question:

Who will you root for in the Super Bowl on February 2nd – Denver Broncos or Seattle Seahawks?

Do you like music? Would you like a fun, loving group of loyal bloggers to visit you week after week after week? If you’re nodding your head yes like I think you are, then you’re gonna wanna check out Monday’s Music Moves Me to be a part of the dance floor shakin’!
