Mom

Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays!  This week’s theme is Songs that make you think of your mom

When I was younger, I remember the TV being tuned into any number of variety shows that contained artists from 60s and 70s with musicians like Dean Martin to Porter Wagoner. I think overall Mom preferred country music but when I think of music that makes me think of her, then gospel hymns is the first thing to come to mind and so I’m dedicating today’s playlist of The Statler Brothers’ singing gospel tunes to her!

Remember music themes are only suggestions.  I don’t care one way or another.  The important thing is to share whatever music moves you. Now, it’s your turn!

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.

When I was a little, my parents adopted my first cousin.  He was five or six years old.  Tomorrow is his birthday, so I want to say, Happy 59th Birthday to you, brother dear (pictured on the left)!

I hope everything is going well on your end.  I’m an unusually busy trying to get my computer cleaned up, backed up to external hard drives, and to our cloud storage.  My internal hard drive is running out of small and I need to off load some data to free up space.  Hopefully, I can wait until at least fall to get a new system with Apple’s new release. Who knows I might get things working pretty smoothly and I can wait longer.  That would be awesome!  Have a boogietastic week, friends! xo

  1. Gospel in a Country style! Great song list for honoring your Ma, CAThy!

I have a playlist at YouTube that I created which contains 34 songs that make me think of my Ma. But there are more that aren’t even on that playlist.

    1. That’s wonderful you have an extensive playlist tribute to your Ma. It’s odd that I remember variety shows always being on the TV set, I can’t connect any particular song or artist with her other than gospel in general. That’s just the way I see Mom. She and Daddy with my grandparents often sang in together in church. I love reflecting on those memories of yesterday!

  2. Wowza, lovely selection dearest.

Thanks for sharing the throwback image. Precious indeed.

Hope the week is as delightful for you, as all the wonderful things you share with us.

  3. So very cool. Very nice. Stadler Bros. is so classic. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

  4. Happy Birthday to your brother, Cathy. I fondly remember those old variety shows like Carol Burnett and the Ed Sullivan show. My mom loved music and listened to the radio all day long which is why I also love music. Have a great week ahead!💕

  5. What joy the old gospel tunes bring! It makes my heart happy to hear them.

Your parents adopting your cousin and making him your brother shows the awesome ties your family had and how they stuck together and worked to stay together.

Triplet stroller and 3 brothers! Wow, she’s excited and I hope it all worked out well for everyone.

    1. My parents are special people.

Can you imagine having triplets? What a challenge for their lives!

I love old gospel hymns! It reminds me so much of my childhood.

    2. How wonderful that your parents adopted him snd a happy birthday to your brother. A very n8ce tribute that, I’m certain, your mom would love.

  6. Boy, it’s been years since I heard the Statler Brothers!

      1. Well what a lovely post your Mum must have been a star ! Happy birthday to your brother and may you sort your computer out!
A great playlist too, have a great week 💜💜

  7. That was such a cute video. My memories of my Mom are centered on her listening to the radio, which was always on in the kitchen, and when I listened to your playlist I imagined the songs playing on an old time radio of the 40’s, for some reason. Alana ramblinwitham

    1. I can understand your imaginary of the Statler Brothers set in the 40s. They have that enduring quality to their voices that transports you backwards into time.

    1. That’s cool! It’s good to have a nice variety of o music floating around the house. I’m delighted you like the Statler Brothers. 🙂

  8. When I was still living in my parents’ house I can remember the musical variety shows being on our TV as well. I was usually the one who turned them on I think. I watched a lot of them on Saturday afternoons and evenings.

    1. The only shows I remember tuning in was the Donny and Marie Osmond and the Carol Burnett Shows but I’m probably not remembering that right. I’m sure I tuned in more of these types of programs especially if I couldn’t find anything else of interest. There were some good one running in those days, though.
