Mewsic to honor my brothers and my sisters 4M

Posted on June 5, 2017

Alrighty, I have some good mews for y’all. Our lovely Dancing Queen, Marie, will return to the dance floor today after being away for a few weeks fighting a battle with pneumonia. WOOT! WOOT! *applauds*

Okay, it’s time to have a little fun. Who says Mondays can’t be fun?  Lace up your blue suede shoes or kick ’em off to rock n’ roll in your socks.  In honor of Marie’s big brother’s birthday, she suggested we go with the mewsic theme “Siblings Day“. Let’s get this party going!

I am the oldest of four.  My siblings are left to right: LilBro1, LilSis, and LilBro2.  I figured I would play mewsic from their birth years.

LilBro1 is my first cousin and his mother passed away when he was very young. I’m not speaking ill of the dead and I certainly do not understand the goings-on in my uncle’s head but he placed his children in the care of other family members or the state orphanage. My parents adopted him in the early 70s after LilSis was born. He had a sweet disposition and always willing to help me around the house. The week he was born in May 1965 this Beatles number one single, “Ticket to Ride” made the Billboard Hot 100 Chart!

In a few days,  LilSis will celebrate 47 years. She was my living babydoll with more than nine years separating us. There wasn’t a song charting the week of her birth, so I went with the week before and according to Wikipedia climbing to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts between May 30-June 6 was Ray Stevens’ “Everything is Beautiful” which describes my LilSis – beautiful!

LilBro2 and I were good buddies when we were small sharing everything together. This past April was his 51st birthday but he left us in 2006 to live in heaven. I’m sure the angels threw him a big bash. The week of his birthday April 14th this song ranked #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts, “You’re My Soul Inspiration” by The Righteous Brother.

Hold on to everything! I need to include the siblings I inherited when I married DH! I always felt like they are my brothers and sister. Family ties don’t need to be through blood but through love and I love each of them dearly. Hopefully, I’ll get the years right.

Photographed in the early 70s about 1973; pictured left to right are BIL2, BIL1, & SIL (married to BIL2)

I don’t know who snapped this shot. I suspect it was DH but I can’t swear to it. This scene is definitely a signature capture of these clowns and DH is just like his big brothers.

BIL1, born mid-November 1949,  this unfamiliar tune was a Billboards Best Sellers in Stores and Number One-Singles from October 1-November 19th, Frankie Laine “That Lucky Old Sun”.

The next hit is US Cash Box Best Selling Singles #1 Hit from December 30, 1950, through February 3, 1951, placing this song around the time of BIL2 birth. Wouldn’t you know it many years later, he’d find himself living in the very state of Pattie Page’s song, “Tennessee Waltz”.  Is it a coincidence or fate? 😉

Lastly, this popular song from 1955 (SIL birth year) was Best Sellers in Stores for the first three weeks in January, Mr. Sandman “The Chordettes”. What a classic from the 50s!

Thank you for including the 4M gals in your day. Now, I invite you to hit the dance floor!

What mewsic do you think of when you think of your brother(s) or your sister(s)?

I’ll see you next week same time and place. Keep those tunes groovin’ and those toes movin’. It’s time for me to catch the flip side (translation: I’m heading your way) this is Curious as a Cathy signing off with Sufjan Stevens, “Sister”!

This is a lovely tribute to your sibs and I am so sad to know you lost your younger brother so early. I just turned 53 on June 2nd and feel very mortal. I’m glad that he had such loving family around him, many don’t and I’m certain he loves all you do here on earth. Love to see what song was popular the week I was born. I was just watching MASH and the show showcased scenes of what was going on at that time and they showed a dancing competition and The Tennessee Waltz was playing…I love that tune.

You posted some of my faves – Mr. Sandman, Ticket to Ride, and anything from the Righteous Brothers (big sighhhhhh). I was so sorry to hear of your brother’s passing 11 years ago. It’s strange how memory works, I forgot my mother’s voice not that long after she passed – I can so understand you trying to hold onto that memory.

      Alana,

I’m delighted you enjoyed the mewsic. My little brother had such a warm heart but making wrong decisions early in life ultimately played a part in his death. It’s too long of a story to go into and one I’m sure I don’t know all the details. If only kids listened to good ole Mom and Dad then everyone would be happier in the end. Thanks for visiting and dancing with me today! 😉

I enjoyed learning about your and DH’s siblings, Cathy, How great that LilBro1 was adopted by your parents! So sorry for the loss of your other brother. ♥ Clever take on the theme, using songs from birth years. No siblings here, but hubby has one older brother and one younger sister. Thanks for the music and have a great week! 🙂

      Debbie,

Thank you for your kind words about my brother. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone 11 years and still I can hear his voice inside my head sometimes. I don’t ever want to forget how he sounded. Not having siblings must have pros and cons but you inherited a brother and sister through marriage. 🙂

What a wonderful tribute to your many siblings. Yes. We are close in age. I think you have me beat by a year, though. I bet your cousin/brother had a wonderful upbringing being adopted into a family of so many wonderful sibs.

      Joyce,

Thanks for stopping by. I believe my cousin/brother had a good life with us. It certainly wasn’t without its ups and down but then again what family doesn’t have moments like that, huh? I certainly think of him more as my brother than my cousin, though. 🙂

      Blogoratti,

I had a nice childhood. Things weren’t purrfect but I have come to respect everyone in my family and have a greater understanding and appreciation for my parents. They sure had to put up with a lot from us kids. This is something I didn’t learn until after becoming a mother and I thank God for giving this to me.

Great way to celebrate our siblings. I enjoyed the photos as well. I have a rather large family (5 siblings) so I took a different approach to the theme.

It’s good to have a good family. I still enjoy time with my sibs and will have a few days coming up in July. Nice tribute. I was also born when “Tennessee Waltz” was on the charts and the state ended up being a big part of who I am.

      Lee,

Ha-Ha! Isn’t that neat, you were born the same year “Tennessee Waltz” charted and you came to live in the area, too? I think it’s cool! I hope you have a grand time visiting your sisters and brothers in July. That’s next month! Wow, how time really flies!!
