Luck #art theme

I sketched an Irish lass for next month’s A to Z Challenge which would work for today but I’m not ready to reveal my pin-up gal yet, so on Monday while blog surfing I came across a DIY project that inspired me for today’s art sketch theme, LUCK!

I’d love to have a horseshoe. When we were clearing out our things from DH’s boyhood home after his dad passed I saw a horse shoe hanging on the barn.  I asked the woman who owns the place if she mined if I could have it and naturally she said no. *sigh* Perhaps, I’ll find an old horse shoe for a few bucks at a flea market or vintage store. The sentiment won’t be quite the same as having one that belonged to my late in-laws but I can try to transfer those feelings to one I buy.

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉 It’s a super pleasure to share my newest illustration with you this morning. 😘  Now, I’m off to check in with Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry and I hope you’ll follow along with me!

Tomorrow is DH’s off-Friday, so I won’t be online but if you’re in Blogosphere on the weekend then look for my newest Songsational Sundays post. Have a doodletastic day!

  1. Hi Cathy 🙂 Oh I laughed so hard at that cartoon! That was great. Still giggling. Oh a horseshoe…that’s such a shame you got a flat out “NO”…horseshoes are definitely for good luck, but they also hold so much of the animal spirit in them…no matter where you find one, it will be a wonderful addition to your home!! 🙂

    1. Rain,

There’s no figuring out why someone’s pettiness or at least that’s the way I read her attitude but I won’t loose any sleep over it and I know she’ll be dealt with in time. I believe what goes around, comes around. Thanks for dropping by for a peek.

  2. What a nice post & great song. It’s a shame what happened to Paul’s wife. Talk about a match made in heaven. Cancer is definitely the devil himself. I finished Monday’s post, but now I guess I’ll be deleting the whole thing. hmmm maybe I’ll keep it for next Monday on our freebie one. Yeah, whew I just thought of that. Woo Hoo I’m a week ahead that’s cool! No problems now & have a great weekend sweetie!!! WHO LUVS YA BABES! HUGS

  3. You always have good music to go with our art themes (I had forgotten how handsome Sir Paul was in those days) so I listen as I browse through your fun post. Your cartoon is perfect … LOL! Humor is always a good thing to share as it is spirit lifting. Laughing, they say, is the best therapy … so today you are my happy therapist (and don’t we all need one in this world today). Best of Luck to you and I will try to come back and see your Irish Lass 🙂

  4. That’s too bad that she wouldn’t let you have your in-laws’ horseshoe. I hope you find one soon.

  5. Like the others, I enjoyed the cartoon. The clover with the horseshoe in it is absolutely incredible. You are a great artist. I’m super impressed. You have “luck” down to a science, dear.

  6. I love your artwork so much. You’re most talented. I do have to comment on the position of your horseshoe…

Hanging a horseshoe facing upwards in a “U” shape is said to keep evil out and bring good luck into your home. Conversely, hanging it upside down will have luck flowing out of your home. I don’t know if this is true, but I’ve heard it more than once. At least you have your pointed right. That means you’ll have good luck.

    Love the video.

Have a fabulous day, my friend. Love and hugs. ♥

  7. A funny sketch I had to laugh about it, yes that’s a luck who needs it for their men!
A lucky clover how beautiful …
    great the song!
I wish you the best of luck in your life!
    Greetings Elke

  8. Hi, Cathy!

I am here to gaze upon your luck theme artwork, dear friend. I didn’t exactly spill my coffee, but I did a spit-take and sprayed my monitor when I saw that cartoon. It’s a great one. Seems that four-leaf clover worked its magic. It’s that hungry gator’s lucky day. 🙂 I admire your brightly colored clover, star and horseshoe drawing. I’m sorry you couldn’t take home that horseshoe you wanted from DH’s boyhood home. My parents were collectors of farm related items and routinely traveled around Central PA and northern Maryland searching for rustic treasure. On a family vacation in the mountains one summer my dad found a large wagon wheel on a steep hillside. He and a friend managed to salvage the wheel and transport it home where it became the centerpiece of our room divider between the kitchen and living room. My folks also acquired hand-painted farm milk cans and hex signs which they used for decorating accents in our house.

It was nice to hear Wings doing their hit “With A Little Luck” and to see the happy faces on all the dancers in the video.

Enjoy the rest of your week and weekend, dear friend Cathy!

  9. Hi Cathy, that cartoon made me laugh out loud, too funny! Thanks for sharing! Love your clover, too. Have a fun weekend. Love the music from Paul McCartney, I’ll be singing all day now. Thanks for sharing, hugs, Valerie
