Krispy Kreme & Images of a Summer Night

Borrowed Photo

Need I say more? You should have seen this one coming a mile away. Well, you would have if you are a regular visitor and if you aren’t then it’s time you became one of my friends…just saying is all. cheesy grin

Last month Krispy Kreme celebrated their 75th anniversary. They opened their doors for business in what’s known today as historic Old Salem in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Vernon Rudolph bought a top-secret yeast-raised donut recipe from a New Orleans French Chef and began cranking out these delightful pastries ever since their opening in 1937.  A swell of pride rises in my throat to think Krispy Kreme started out in the south. There’s really nothing like hot glazed Krispy Kreme donuts! I mean, these things really do melt-in-your-mouth just like the statement boasts in the photo. I imagine if I could taste heaven, then I think it would be ever as sweet and delicious as a hot glazed Krispy Kreme donut.

Just look at these babies….

How do you choose from these beauties and the original hot glazed donuts? Simple, you get a dozen assorted and a dozen of hot glazed donuts. It works for us! Do you hate me yet for putting this post together? lol

This brings me to my T2Q:

  1. Have you ever had Krispy Kreme hot glazed donuts fresh?
  2. Which is your preferred pick: fluffy glazed pastries, cakey style, or filled donuts?

You can now take the Krispy Kreme Hotlight On sign with you wherever you go now with the cool smartphone app. Check it out here.  I do!

  1. This made me laugh! I just did back to school shopping with each of our Grandlittles. Each of them requested to start the day at KK!

We had to watch the donuts come off the line for a long time and then look at each choice carefully.

I tried one of their birthday donuts…yikes…it was a frosting filled glazed donut. I don’t think my teeth have recovered yet…

However, give me a small cup of their signature coffee with cream and a maple glazed and I am definitely in heaven!

Thank heavens I don’t like graham crackers or I’d be thinking about those now, too!

Thanks for an inKredibly delicious link this week!

    A+++

  2. 1) I think there was a time when we were having Krispy Kreme donuts every week. It was so weird now that I think about it. Now, we don’t even talk, think, or see it around anymore.
    2) I love them all, we had different ones every week, the cherry filing ones are so rich, I can only have half. I love the chocolate cover, or just the glazed ones…I told you I really don’t have a favorite, as I love them all.

  3. I’m a fan♫ My kids know to get me a Krispy Kreme if they want back in my good graces♪ And s’more’s are at the top of my list as well! We microwave the marshmallow on a half of graham then sprinkle with choc chips before shmooshing with the other graham.

  4. I don’t think we have Krispy Kreme here in Cali, or at least where I live. I don’t eat donuts anyhow!

(May I ask that you don’t put a link in your comment since your profile is leading me to your blog already!!!)

  5. You and the goodies 🙂

I have to say that I can’t remember having a Krispy Kreme.
I really want to taste this goodness everyone else is talking about.
I think I should make this a treat session for me and the kids before they go back to school.

I prefer inside filled donuts 🙂

    Aloha

  6. You did good, Cathy. I hadn’t realized that you were doing five prompts with this one. I am also, the “K” letter, MidWeek Blues (I’m a ‘charter member’ of this tiny meme), Thurs. Two Q’s, and ‘Thurs. Things in a Row, and set up with the same blog to add Six Word Saturday. We are having company for these two weeks and my blogging has slowed. One post for all five helps a lot.

    1. Have you ever had Krispy Kreme hot-glazed donuts fresh?
Yes, in Cedar Rapids Iowa we could buy them off the line. Also there got a free one if the ‘light’ was on (visible as one drove by). In Memphis we had to wait for our donut order as they came off the line.

    2. Which is your preferred pick: fluffy glazed pastries, cakey style, or filled donuts?
My favorites were always the filled ones.
Did you notice that I said ‘were?’ I have not eaten a donut of any kind now for the last six years, going on seven. I do eat other cakes and baked sweets, some of them.

Our grocery and other type stor

    1. (continued) … store carries Krispy Creme but the have entirely left the state. Now they come in frozen from China. Same of the state of Iowa. I know other states have cut them out but I don’t know which ones.

The Krispy’s we got in Memphis last November were for my BIL in Milan, Tenn. They don’t have them in Jackson anymore either. I think they expanded too fast and had to fall back. Just like our U.S. 🙂

Keep up the good work, “L’s” had ought the be LOL all the way! LOL
      ..

  7. They opened a store close to us (26 miles) and whenever I had appts I would indulge but then sadly the store closed!!! IT HAS BEEN 5 years yes I said 5years sense I had a hot delicious Krispy Kreme donut :[
WHEW on a positive happy note LOVE the camp pictures yes that is what summer is all about ;]

  8. I never realized Krispy Kremes had been around so long. I do know that when they first came to California, there were often lines down the street to get in. And yes, I have tasted them warm…the original glazed, melt-in-your mouth ones. But I’ve never tasted any of the other kinds. Seems like I have some catching up to do!

    =)

PS. I have never seen a firefly in real life. But my hubby, being from Illinois, has.

  9. Oh my, Krispy Kreme is just about the best doughnut, hands down! I prefer a regular glazed doughnut to the iced or filled ones — although a bit of chocolate on top is always good!

  10. I’m not really into donuts so do not have cravings for them.
    Lovely summer photos.

  11. Ok. This is where I get embarrassed. I never had one! However, after reading this I shall put it on my to do list. Thank you for stopping by at Julia’s Place!

  12. those doughnuts must be made of crack. try never to be even near one. and yes, we had them right off the glazing belt once. ohmy ohmy ohmy.

  13. Cathy, when we were growing up in Atlanta, the Krispy Kreme store was one of our favorites! We have definitely had them hot! I don’t care of the cake-style, but I love the puffy glazed ones. When we were in high school we used to go door to door, selling them for fundraisers.

I was a girl scout, so I definitely remember s’mores around the campfire.

    Great memories, Cathy!

  14. A few months back, my son and I went with two families on our soccer team to Krispy Kreme for their special celebration. We all got a hot of the machine glazed donut for free. It was such a delicious treat, and I don’t like donut that much, but I was head over heel for this one 🙂

  15. No! No! No! Never show me Krispey Kreme donuts. There is an unwritten rule in my house – DO NOT BRING THOSE KRISPY KREMES NEAR ME. I love them. I adore them. I covet them. Sadly, my blood sugar levels DO NOT! But, and this is a big but – that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy the smell of them or a photo of them in all their glory!
