‘Jack o’ lantern’ #art theme #TADWR

Today’s art theme is jack o’ lantern.  I used Procreate to sketch a pumpkin patch with a cheery smiling jack o’ lantern in the center.  When our kids were small this is the kind of pumpkin fac we’d carve and we always named him Happy.

Or if you prefer a day time illustration, here’s the same picture.

I wanted to contribute in last week’s Creatures of the Night prompt but I had my mind elsewhere and caught up in the moment of enjoying our time together. To put you in the mood for my next illustration, click play below.

I did cranked out a quick rendition of a ‘Mistress of the Night’.

You might be tempted to climb into bed with her but beware… she has fangs and likes to bite! Of course, if you’re into that sort of thing then I say, “Go for it!” 😉

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉  It’s been a super pleasure to share my sprinkle of talent I have with you this morning. 😘 If you like to see what others are bringing to the art play date, then I invite you to high tail it over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry!

I’m playing catch up in Blogosphere after being away for more than a week but I appreciate y’all’s visit and I’ll see you soon.  I’ll definitely be back tomorrow, click HERE for today’s RMF post, with another edition of the Rocktober Music fest. 😉

    1. Andrea,

Mission accomplished on creepy mewsic good to hear! 😉 Thanks for stopping by for a peek at my artwork this week. Have a spooktacular evening and Happy Halloween to you to ghoul!

  2. Love your art work both day and night. It looks like it was done with pastels. I love the happy pumpkin. Whenever I tried to make something smiling it always looks devious or evil.

  3. Hi Cathy 🙂 I love your Happy Jack! 🙂 The piece is wonderful, I love the brush behind the pumpkins and your owl is neat! Well done on the eyes! The day scene is very nice, but I do prefer the night one!! Your Mistress is very seductive!! But yeah, beware her bite!! LOL…your “go for it” phrase made me giggle! The dark ambient music is really cool, I’m playing it in the background while I read blogs. I love it! It’s actually quite relaxing! I just had a memory of a record (an old vinyl) we had as kids with spooky Halloween sounds like screams, lab noises, screeching cats and moaning…that was really fun! I’m glad you had time to join in this week!! 🙂

    1. Rain,

The night scene is my favorite of the two jack-a-lantern illustrations but the daytime one has its place. I was hoping some would enjoy the words of warning with a little nudge to ‘go for it’. 😀 I’m finding my way back into the normal blogging flow again as I rapidly work to stay ahead of the game. After all, we’re taking another vacation before ya know it. The days are clicking off in a hurry and there’s no way to slow ’em down.

  4. I’m listening the the scary music. It is scary.

I love your sketches. Well done.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  5. Hi Cathy, fun post and fun blog, when I have time later I will listen in to the music, but need to get going right now. Loved your Halloween experience! Nice to meet you! Hugs, Valerie

  6. Hi, Cathy!

I noticed you doubled up on posts this morning, but I didn’t want to miss the torrent of talent on display in your artwork. I am not disappointed. I like both the nighttime and daytime versions of your Jack O’ Lantern scene. Nicely done, dear friend!

As a red blooded hetero male, I find your ‘Mistress of the Night’ hard to resist. She is a ravishing redhead and has that “come hither” look in her eyes. I think I’d be willing to take my chances with her and risk being clawed and bitten. It wouldn’t be the first time! 🙂

I have only 9 hours, 56 minutes and 34 seconds of that spooky music remaining, and I am determined to listen all the way through! 🙂

Have a wonderful day, dear friend Cathy!

  7. Good morning! Your Happy jack ‘o lantern is very creative, and you drew it twice, very clever to do day and night. Ms. Vampire looks compelling and scary, just as she should.

These last few days i’ve been working very long hours and getting behind on comments on blogs, but i’ve been listening to playlists when i can and will try to do more commenting.

    Have a great Thursday!
