I’m in the spotlight light!

Monday's Music Moves Me Spotlight Dancer

Good morning, kittens & dawgs! My good bud, XmasDolly, sent an email announcing I’m the newest Spotlight Dancer on Monday’s Music Moves Me (4M). Yay, me! ?

I know as a long time 4M dancer and former co-hostess that this means I get to pick the music theme for today’s party if I choose to accept the assignment a-hem spotlight position. XmasDolly & Company, I accept! Let’s dance to TV talent show (i.e American Idol, The Voice, America’s Got Talent,…) contenders performing other artist’s songs!

Across the Tennessee mountains in the small western North Carolina community of Sylva locals know the bluegrass group Mountain Faith Band (@MtnFaithBand) who appeared on America’s Got Talent (AGT) season 10. I wanted to feature this group on my site ever since, but it never worked out until now.

The first time I heard them performed, I immediately liked them. Kindly listen to One Republic’s Counting Stars cover by Mountain Faith Band.

Not bad for a bluegrass band, eh? Another popular tune that I liked that they did is Walk the Moon cover Shut Up and Dance.

The instruments are different. The vocals are a bit country but the sound still makes you wanna shut up and dance, right?

This next song is an original release. They did not do it on AGT (or at least I don’t think so), but I couldn’t help myself and knew I had to share it with you. It’s beautiful. Listen to Emily (It’s Love).

Did you like that little ditty? If you like it, then you can buy Emily (It’s Love) – Mountain Faith from iTunes.

Disclosure: Affiliate links highlighted in RED. I’m supposed to tell y’all, if you make a purchase (I don’t know about clicking on it) going through an affiliate link, then I earn a few pennies and if you do that then let me say thank-you! ?

Bluegrass isn’t my forte. However, over the years I’ve come to appreciate this type of music being raised on it and all. What I like is this group puts a unique spin on popular songs with their brand of music which grabbed my attention and millions of other TV viewers. What did you think of Mountain Faith Band?

Thanks for dancing with me. Now, let’s keep the party going! Link up your music post below and dance with all the 4M crew and friends below!

  1. OMG – as I was leaving a comment on this week’s post, I glanced up and noticed I had a duplicate tab open on your site…I thought I left a comment last week, but apparently kept the tab open all week long and never did! Sheesh! Talk about the mother of all Blonde Moments! 🙂

First of all, CONGRATS on your Spotlight Dance! I loved the theme you chose! And thank you for the introduction to these tunes – I enjoyed them very much! Thanks for dancing with us, Cathy! 🙂

  2. Congrats on being featured Cathy!

I didn’t see this band when I watched, though intermittently, but they are quite interesting and I love their sound. They should do the Voice too.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Have a blessed week!

    1. Thanks, Colette! Getting a fair amount of exposure on AGT seemed to give Mountain Faith Band a boost. We were in Sylvia last summer while the group was still on AGT. We stopped to get ice cream at a local shop & the gal helping us didn’t realize until a few days earlier that the small town band was in the show. I thought that was interesting. I’ll be by soon dearie. Thanks for the visit!

  3. Way ta go Cathy! Eeeeeee Hawwwwwwwwww love it and congrats for being our Spotlight Dancer! Your theme was superb!!! I know I enjoyed myself. HUGS

    1. Marie, thanks for the feature and thank you for stopping by to dance. I know you don’t feel your best, too. But, I hope this means you’re on the mend. Hugs to you, my friend!

  4. I thought the Mountain Faith Band was really good and I was rooting for them along the way. They weren’t my first choice pick, but they were durn good.

    1. Lee, yep they are pretty durn good! lol I wanted them to win because they are from the area sorta with Sylva so close to Knoxville. I’m glad they got as far as they did on AGT, though. Thanks for dropping in!

  5. Hi, Cathy!

As you might have noticed in my comments on band battles, I actually like country music and that includes Bluegrass. I enjoyed Mountain Faith Band as much as the four judges. Howard Stern got it right. You don’t see that many “happy” people in modern music. Like those “Nashville Cats” (Lovin’ Spoonful song), M.F.B. “plays clean as country water” and Summer McMahan is sweet and wholesome and down home as can be – very refreshing! I loved all three of their songs.

    Thank you, dear friend Cathy!
