This week on the Monday’s Music Moves Me dance floor we are boogieing because we’re grateful. Yep, Sandee from Comedy Plus is closing out the month with her last theme, “Grateful”. You’re welcome to interpret this as you want to build a playlist that’s personal. Are you ready to get this party going?
I’m eternally grateful for every thing in my life. Often I whine about our house being too small and how I can’t wait to get into a place with more space but honestly I’m grateful for our house. We own this place. It’s ours! I know there are others who aren’t as fortunate to own their house and sometimes there are those who are even homeless. I decided to build my gratitude playlist using “house” in my song title picks. Some of the music discoveries are new and few I’ve heard. I hope you enjoy the set!
What are you grateful for today?
This is a music linky party. Your co-hostess are Stacy, Alana, and Me. Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
Special thanks to Sandee for filling in as this month’s honorary co-hostess. You did a swell job, girl! On behalf of the 4M gang, you’re welcome to do this any time! Next month we’re celebrating the season with all things Christmas. I’ll be back on Wednesday with another edition in my Maine vacation photo memories. This is CAAC signing off, have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

What a great playlist here. Very
That’s a great playlist, CK, Madness and The Scorpions are my favourite and Shakin’ Stevens Ole house too…Betty’s quote is just fabulous, one that we need to keep in mind effurry day💗Double Pawkisses for a Happy Warm Weekend🐾😽💞
I need that seal! Like you I am grateful for our house. It started as a one bedroom house (yes, a one bedroom house!) and when our son was born we added a second story after we had two house sales fall through. This unassuming house has sheltered us through 35 plus years. You had a great idea for the theme today. My favorite song, besides Our House, was the John Fogerty song. Alana ramblinwitham
I got a laugh out of the seal by the door! A house you can call home is what matters. Owning it free and clear makes it even better. Have a great week ahead, Cathy!💖
Eugenia,
This place is home sweet home. 🙂
💖
Nice choices. I love my house too. It is small , but paid for. 🙂 XO
Ellen,
Having a home is nice and one that is paid for even nicer. We are blessed even if our homes are small, right?
We could try that door thing with our Seal. That was a good playlist.
Brian,
I’m not too sure Seal will go for that idea. I mean, I wouldn’t. lol I hate drafts, though. I remember as a kid, my parents would push a rug up against the bottom of the front door to keep the cold out. It helped some but we always felt it when we passed by it.
Love the “seal”, the quote and the music to remind us of what we have!
Mimi,
I thought it was funny to not share. 😀
Good choices for this theme! Mary and I have owned our house free and clear for about five years now. Sure is A great feeliung, isn’t it?
John,
It is absolutely a great feeling owning our home!
I’m sealing my door right now. You made me laugh out loud.
Love the videos. You’re really good at this.
It was my honor to be the co-host this month. I had a great time.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥
Sandee,
I’m glad I made you laugh. 😀 I’m glad you had a good time as guest co-hostess this month, my friend. Have a boogietastic week!
0o had to listen to Tom’s 2 musical picks o love that you went with home. I own now my home and that is great. I love the Betty White quote but I wish o had no pain…bad today. On a nicer note I enjoyed your song picks and thought of the the song ” I wanna go home” by the Beach Boys. I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. I hope DD is feeling better.
Birgit,
DD#1 is feeling better. She was able to work yesterday. Thanks for stopping by, my dear!
Hi, Cathy!
Happy Paw-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice holiday weekend, and I hope you can report better news today regarding your DD’s illness. I know it must be weighing on you.
Awww… I just want smooch that little seal helping winterize the house by “sealing” the door.
If you mention a “house” playlist to most people nowadays, they’d think every song on it is the kind you’d likely hear on the dance floor of an upscale club in Ibiza. Your mixed genre set expressing how grateful you are for your house, is a delight to the senses. The 1983 hit “Our House” by the British pop/ska and new wave band Madness was frequently requested and heavily played during the morning and afternoon dayparts on the MTV station where I worked in the 80s. It’s been a while since I watched a video by CCM artist Amy Grant. Amy rose to mainstream popularity and had most of her crossover hits during the same span of years I worked in MTV. This collaboration with Vince Gill is the title song from Amy’s 1994 album House Of Love. This is the first time I’m hearing Fogerty’s cover of “Haunted House.” I never knew he recorded it. The song “Haunted House” was originally waxed in 1958 by West Coast blues man Johnny Fuller. A 1964 cover of the song was a biggie in my teenage years, a top 40 novelty hit by Jumpin’ Gene Simmons. Kiss bassist Gene Simmons chose his stage name as a tribute to the Mississippi rockabilly rock & roller. Gema Pearl is a wonderful discovery. Thanks for introducing this exciting Texas blues, outlaw country and heritage rock queen!
I’d like to contribute two house songs that were a big part of my childhood. Both are by Rosemary Clooney, actor George Clooney’s aunt. In 1951, Rosie topped the U.S. chart for 6 weeks with “Come On-a My House”:
In 1954, Rosemary Clooney again topped the chart with “This Ole House,” a single that also reached #1 in the UK. In 1981, Welsh singer Shakin’ Stevens covered the song and his version also topped the UK chart (for three weeks):
I love the Betty White quote. We should all take her advice to heart. Thank you for the Monday morning mewsic, dear friend Cathy. I’ll be back Wednesday for the “Maine Event.” 🙂 Have a tunetastic week!
Tom,
Thanks for the good info and song shares. You always have such wonderful tid-bits to add to my post. My readers can learn a lot just by reading what you leave for me. Two things about Gene Simmons I didn’t know is, one he’s older than I thought and two he was born in Israel. His early life reported on Wiki is interesting. I’m quite healthy with no complaints, I know there are others younger, older who aren’t so fortunate. However with age comes the slowing down of things and occasional stiffness/pain. It’s times like that I really gratitude because how blessed I truly am, you know? This is the reason why I picked Betty White’s quote. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!
