Before ya go, let me share with you last week’s BoTB showdown results. First off I didn’t do a very good job matching up my contenders and second off most of y’all didn’t really care a whole lot for either of the singers. I actually liked both artists as well as their rendition of ‘Walk On By’. These ladies have different singing styles so it’s kinda like comparing apples to oranges. You can’t but there’s something to like about both. As I said, I did not pair up my singers well this round and the ballot box clearly revealed it by the numbers. See for yourself!
Cyndi Lauper– Lee, Eugenia, Mary, Birgit
Diana Krall – Robin, John, Janet, Debbie, Brian, Tom, Stephen, Michael T., & Amy
The winner is DIANA KRALL! I hesitated to share another song but my results section just wouldn’t be complete, so I decided to feature another oldie written by Bacharach that Diana covered that I liked, The Look of Love!
I will have an April 1st showdown but am uncertain about doing one mid-month next time since I’ll be up to my ears with A2Zing, as well as other things. Let’s just see how things go. Okay, That’s a wrap for now. For the rest of the month I’m stepping away from Blogosphere, other than my Monday’s dance party to finish my April posts but before I close I want to share one more song in memory of Kenny Rogers, Lady from 1980. RIP Kenny
I hope y’all are doing well on your end. DH and I are doing fine, as are our children. Until we meet next time, take care and be well, my friends. Have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

Kenny Rodgers was one of the bests for sure. I loved the way he sang and all his feeling into his work & yes I thought he was quite handsome. Love Huey Lewis it’s party time when I hear him. Sorry I’m late just trying to keep busy around here. Glad to hear all is well at your end of the woods. We’re all healthy here too! Love all your choices. Love you! Sending lotsa HUGS!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!
I like Huey and glad his hearing issues are resolved. RIP Kenny Rogers. 🙁
That little goat is so precious. Mom loves Huey Lewis and went to see a concert of his at the State Fair back in the 80’s. Sad with Kenny Rogers, he had some good songs too.
Oh that’s so cool your mom got to see Huey Lewis & the News in concert. This is one group I wouldn’t mind seeing. 🙂 Yep, it was sad to read of Kenny Rogers’ passing. He’s in a better place now. Be well, my furriends!
Hi Cathy 🙂 Just popping in to say howdee. 🙂 Oh…I’m so sad about Kenny, I’ve been listening to his mewsic all day. I used to love Huey Lewis in the 80’s!
Cute little lamb!
It’s great Huey has made another album. I didn’t know about his hearing problems.
The very best results, and you shared another of Diana’s tunes. Sweet… Are you are fan of her husband, Elvis Costello?
We always did like Huey Lewis, the News (TV), not so much! We were sad to hear the Kenny Rogers news, he sure had lots of good songs.
Thank you for posting Huey’s latest album – I had found out about his hearing problem several weeks back. I found all the songs most pleasant listening. We need something like that in these times. It was a good ending to a work at home day.
I’m glad Huey Lewis has overcome his hearing issues! This new album is full of up-beat, fun songs – something we sorely need right now. Thanks for sharing it and for hosting this blogfest.
Congrats to Diana Krall for the BOTB win. She has a beautiful voice. So sad about Kenny Rogers, though. May he R.I.P.
I’ll be on a blogging break in April, but will definitely check out the BOTB posts on the 1st, and a few others, here and there, after that. Wishing you a successful A to Z Challenge! You always do them well. 🙂
Glad to know you and your family are making out okay during this crisis, Cathy. We are taking one day at a time, and hoping for the best. Cheers!
Debbie,
Thanks for dancing with me today. Our city has issued stay-at home to non-essential personnel, so DH will be home for the next 14-days beginning tomorrow. Nearly everyone was working from home already except for a handful of employees. It’s just tons easier for him to work there because we don’t have enough space for him to spread stuff all over the place but I got busy this afternoon clearing a little niche for him to work. It’s not purrfect but hopefully it’ll do for a short time. I learned today that a good friend’s BIL died from this virus. He was only 56. That’s two years younger than me. I haven’t a clue if he had underlying health issues that played into this or not. I’ll have to ask. So sad! We’ll get through this storm if we keep our wits about us and use the gray mass between our ears that God gave us. Have a great week and be well, my dear!
Awww, what a little cutie pie, but keep that sweater on. It’s cold here too.
Love all the videos.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥
Sandee,
It’s a bit chilly here with the rain and clouds today. I’m ready for it to warm up a bit. The blue sky would be a welcome cheery for us all, don’t you think?
Remember when it seeme like Huey Lewis & The News were on the radio all the time? I miss those days.
John,
Yep, I sure do. His mewsic played forever. Sometimes I’ll catch one of his old tunes playing on one of the Sirius channels. It’s always great fun to hear those 80s & 90s classics!
Huey Lewis is such a classic. I used to live in the same town as him when I lived in Larkspur in Marin County for a bit.
I will give a listen to Huey’s new songs, thanks for sharing. We last saw him and the News at the Mountain Winery several years ago. We were disappointed because it started raining so they had to stop the show for 45 minutes and when they resumed he asked if the crowd wanted to hear some new stuff or the oldies. We all said oldies but he sang new stuff anyway. The whole show was shortened due to curfew. Stay well!
Yo, sweet little lamb, better wear the sweater a little longer, it’s still furreezing😺We were in shock when we heard about the passing of Kenny Rogers, CK. He was such a great singer. Lady is one of our favourites too💗Take good care of yourself and hope you have a great week despite everything🙏Pawkisses for a Happy Healthy Week ahead🐾😽💞
I thought the pairing of versions in your last BOTB was quite good. I liked both almost equally and could have voted either way, but I’m glad I went with the underdog in this match.
I’ve now got my Battle results posted along with an encouraging story that came from one of my daughters.

Tossing It Out
Things are well in our little corner of the world. Catching up on a few photo projects that are long overdue. Taking a couple of online courses. One is a photography course on how to pose people for portraits , on is on the book of Daniel by Tommy Nelson, and one is about C.S. Lewis offered by Hillsdale college. Two of them are free and it certainly beats watching television reruns. Thanks for posting the Huey Lewis tunes. I always liked the gravel in Kenny Rogers voice. Have a blessed week.
Great choices, Cathy. Huey Lewis opened for Jimmy Buffett a few years ago and I got to see him live. Also got to see Kenny Rigers, today is a sad day …
Hi, Cathy!
I hope you had a healthy and happy weekend, dear friend!
It is indeed good to know that Huey Lewis is bouncing back after suffering medical problems in recent years. As he did in his 80s videos, Huey used visual gimmicks in “While We’re Young” to make it entertaining. In this case he shows various people lip syncing to the song. If I am not mistaken, one of them is June Lockhart of Lassie and Lost in Space fame who will be 95 years old a few months from now. It’s great to see her again after all these years. I also saw a few other familiar celebrities sprinkled throughout the video including Patrick Warburton and Wendie Malick, and also a reference to the face immersed in ice water shot from Huey’s hit “I Want A New Drug,” this time using a toilet. I like the brassy arrangement on “Remind Me Why I Love You Again.” I also very much enjoyed the retro styled “Pretty Girls Everywhere” with what sounds like a group of black men as backing vocalists.
When it comes to mewsic appreciation, I am a lot like you. I am not very hard to please and find something to like in just about every recording. On day one of your BOTB I noticed that the contest was breaking heavily in favor of Diana Krall and therefore the outcome doesn’t surprise me. “The Look Of Love” is a great song and I enjoyed Diana’s interpretation.
RIP Kenny. Beginning with the psychedelic song “Just Dropped In,” Kenny’s singles as frontman of The First Edition took me through my college years and remain favorites to this day.
If you visit Shady’s Place today and leave a comment, I will reply a.s.a.p. However I am getting ready to leave this morning for yet another drive across the state. I have a doctor appointment and Mrs. Shady also needs to stop in at her eye doctor’s office. Mrs. Shady, her son and I all have cataract operations coming up in the next few weeks, so please understand if I am tardy or absent from your A to Z posts. I’ll do my best to swing over every day.
Have a good week, dear friend Cathy, if not a great one!
