Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays! Earlier in the week, we had a few really nice days. I captured the early evening moon while taking the trash out. Psalms 183:1 inspires me to give the Lord credit at all times. I’m so blessed!
This week Marie came up with winter theme to build our music around. Think cold weather, sports, snow, snuggling with your friends, or anything that says winter to you.
Let’s face it, it’ll be here before you know it and in some places it may have already come but not quite here in the southeast just yet, so I’ll just pretend that it has.
Imagine being snowbound with nothing to do other than to slip on your snow coats to head outdoors to build a snowman or a snow angel. When we’re frozen, we can retreat to the warmth of our homes. Don’t pile things up, put away your hat, scarf, coat, gloves, then settle by the window to watch the snowfall wrapped in a warm sweater with a hot chocolate in hand calling it a day.
My initial direction for this week’s music prompt was to find songs relating to snow skiing. I found two albums by different artists, Bob Gibson’s Celebrated Skier and Ray Conrad’s The Cotton-Pickin’ Lift Tower and Other Ski Songs. Interesting discoveries but not the kind of music I’d listen to more than once. Ice skating is one of my favorite winter sports but I couldn’t find songs about skaters or the sport but I did find an instrumental arrangements playlist to use for Figure Skating Music that is nice.
Yesterday was DH’s oldest brother’s birthday. In honor of his special day, I’m sharing a song from the year my brother-in-law turned 18. I don’t know what music he fancied in those years but for some reason I imagine he might’ve like The Turtles and here’s their #1 song, “Happy Together”!
Remember music themes are only suggestions. I don’t care one way or another. The important thing is to share whatever music moves you. Now, it’s your turn!
You probably noticed my theme layout has changed. I noticed the last one, which I removed before jotting down the name, had a pesky link at the very top that I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of and so it went bye bye. This theme is a WordPress.org design called Twenty Twenty-One. It offers a wide block layout which many of y’all seemed to like. My side menu item are now in the footer. This may take some adjusting to get use to but if it doesn’t feel right then I’ll change layouts. This time at least I’ll have written record of what I used. Let me know what you think.
Winding things up, I found the perfect do-over art to go along with this week’s music theme. I did a pencil sketch of the original in 2019 that I called “A Chilly Day”. Over the summer, I finally got around to redoing it using Procreate. I love bringing my artwork to life using color. I think I’ve improved on drawing faces. I like how my the new girl looks. Thanks for stopping by and here’s to a boogietastic week!

That song of Genesis is such a great song, CK, we also included Tori Amos in our list, she’s amazing, isn’t she💗Your drawings always lifts us op, they’re so cute and so real🎨Double Pawkisses for a Happy Birthday to your Brother in law and some extra for you too. Have a wonderful week ahead🐾😽💞
These songs are great and I love that one that comes from. Some animated movie that failed but that sing is now huge. I wonder if the movie, “Ice Castles” has a soundtrack. Gosh, I saw that flick way back in the cinemas. It starred Robbie Benson..can’t remember the gal at all. A happy birthday to your brother in law..great song!
Great music, Cathy! Wow, I had forgotten about that Genesis track. I used to listen to that album A LOT!!
So, happy you popped by to boogie with me, Ed. Have a good week, my friend!
Very nice songs. It is is getting colder here in the SF Bay Area. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Everyone is feeling old man winter comin’ on. Wasn’t it just summer yesterday? Boy, this year has zipped right out the window! Thanks for stopping in for some tunes and to join the party, Patrick!
Hold on to your hat, winter will arrive in NW Arkansas later this week as we will experience our first series of hard freezes beginning Friday night. I still have vines producing tomatoes, but that is about to come to a screeching halt. Gotta go put up the Christmas lights. It’s almost time for the annual Christmas Music Marathon. Have a blessed week.
It’s gonna turn cold here, too. I’m really not looking forward to it, either. Yeah, you better get those lights up while the warm weather lasts. I’m looking forward to your Christmas Music Marathon next month. Thanks for joining the party, my friend!
Love your music selections, Cathy. I also like the theme you chose, especially the dark mode option.
Thanks for letting me know your thoughts and for your visit, darlin’ Eugi! xo
You’re welcome, Cathy!
The drawing is so festive, and I really enjoyed your music choice! I haven’t been listening to much recently, so it’s been nice to hear something new.
You haven’t been listening to music much lately? That’s a crime! You must do something to change that now. lol Thanks for stopping, my dear!
I like the music and your art too!
I’m happy you like both, dear furriend!
Great sketch. I love winter. Happy Belated b’day to your brother-in-law. XO
Thanks, dear Ellen!
I like the theme! especially like the pop-up in the lower right-hand corner that lets you turn dark mode on and off.
I like the dark mode on/off feature, too. I’m happy you like this week’s theme. It’s expected to get quite chilly here later in the week. I’m not ready for winter type weather. Bah-hum-bug! 😀
We haven’t gotten too chilly yet. What concerns me is that we haven’t had a major snow event in a few years. I’m worried we’re going to get walloped this year…
I know, I’ve thought the same thing for the last couple of years. We’re gonna get it and when we do, it’ll be hard. Hopefully, it won’t be this year, though. I much prefer mild winters like we typically enjoy. Thanks for stopping by to join the party, John!
Fun music and I really like your photo!
Thank you, my friend!
Hi Cathy it’s nice to be back , love the Genisis and this is one of my favourite Winter Albums. Happy birthday to your brother in law stay well and happy.☺️☺️☺️
Willow,
This song from Genesis’ Winter album was a new discovery for me and I enjoyed finding it very much. Thanks for visiting and for the bday wishes to my BIL, my dear!
PS: I fixed your URL address on the link up. It pointed to a different post. 😉
I enjoyed your playlist. I needed something mellow and – I am not a Madonna fan but I absolutely loved that song. I also loved Happy Together, a song from my childhood. I almost used Sweater Weather on my post, which I did yesterday (will go live tomorrow) in case I didn’t have time today. FYI, the Happy Together video as it shows on the blog is huge. The other videos seemed sized properly. And then the “leave me a comment” seems to look strange, too. Don’t know if this is because of Firefox or some glitchy code but thought I would mention it.
Thanks for pointing out the last video was larger than the others. I managed to get it fix. It might have been a coincidence, but it seems the placement of the linky code affected it, as its also causing other formatting issues. If it becomes too much of a problem I may look for another layout. As for the commenting section, I haven’t checked it out using different browsers. Maybe today I can test it.
“Happy Together” is a great oldie. Have a boogietastic week, Alana!
