Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays! Earlier in the week, we had a few really nice days. I captured the early evening moon while taking the trash out. Psalms 183:1 inspires me to give the Lord credit at all times. I’m so blessed!
This week Marie came up with winter theme to build our music around. Think cold weather, sports, snow, snuggling with your friends, or anything that says winter to you.
Let’s face it, it’ll be here before you know it and in some places it may have already come but not quite here in the southeast just yet, so I’ll just pretend that it has.
Imagine being snowbound with nothing to do other than to slip on your snow coats to head outdoors to build a snowman or a snow angel. When we’re frozen, we can retreat to the warmth of our homes. Don’t pile things up, put away your hat, scarf, coat, gloves, then settle by the window to watch the snowfall wrapped in a warm sweater with a hot chocolate in hand calling it a day.
My initial direction for this week’s music prompt was to find songs relating to snow skiing. I found two albums by different artists, Bob Gibson’s Celebrated Skier and Ray Conrad’s The Cotton-Pickin’ Lift Tower and Other Ski Songs. Interesting discoveries but not the kind of music I’d listen to more than once. Ice skating is one of my favorite winter sports but I couldn’t find songs about skaters or the sport but I did find an instrumental arrangements playlist to use for Figure Skating Music that is nice.
Remember music themes are only suggestions. I don’t care one way or another. The important thing is to share whatever music moves you. Now, it’s your turn!
Yesterday was DH’s oldest brother’s birthday. In honor of his special day, I’m sharing a song from the year my brother-in-law turned 18. I don’t know what music he fancied in those years but for some reason I imagine he might’ve like The Turtles and here’s their #1 song, “Happy Together”!
You probably noticed my theme layout has changed. I noticed the last one, which I removed before jotting down the name, had a pesky link at the very top that I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of and so it went bye bye. This theme is a WordPress.org design called Twenty Twenty-One. It offers a wide block layout which many of y’all seemed to like. My side menu item are now in the footer. This may take some adjusting to get use to but if it doesn’t feel right then I’ll change layouts. This time at least I’ll have written record of what I used. Let me know what you think.
Winding things up, I found the perfect do-over art to go along with this week’s music theme. I did a pencil sketch of the original in 2019 that I called “A Chilly Day”. Over the summer, I finally got around to redoing it using Procreate. I love bringing my artwork to life using color. I think I’ve improved on drawing faces. I like how my the new girl looks. Thanks for stopping by and here’s to a boogietastic week!

Hi Cathy it’s nice to be back , love the Genisis and this is one of my favourite Winter Albums. Happy birthday to your brother in law stay well and happy.☺️☺️☺️
I enjoyed your playlist. I needed something mellow and – I am not a Madonna fan but I absolutely loved that song. I also loved Happy Together, a song from my childhood. I almost used Sweater Weather on my post, which I did yesterday (will go live tomorrow) in case I didn’t have time today. FYI, the Happy Together video as it shows on the blog is huge. The other videos seemed sized properly. And then the “leave me a comment” seems to look strange, too. Don’t know if this is because of Firefox or some glitchy code but thought I would mention it.
