God has a sense of #humor

Purrs and hisses, Kittens & Dawgs! I always said God has a sense of humor. The proof is clear when He created me. 🙂  Anywho, I thought I’d bring some religion humor to you from this side of the computer this morning packed in this week’s Friday Fun Stuff.  Enjoy!

Thankfully, I don’t look like this critter but see, didn’t I tell you?

I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Ellen and Lorraine.

1. Better to be safe than sorry. Jumping the gun too quickly on anything can have serious…even deadly consequences. Listen to God’s quiet voice before leaping.

2. Don’t judge a person just because of their visual circumstances or even what they say or don’t say, often times there is more to the situation than we realize. In short, give someone the benefit of the doubt more often than not.  Food for thought: I’ve done this not understanding to only find out later of that person’s hardships.  That stopped me in my tracks, so now when someone seems odd I think maybe life isn’t good for them at the moment.

3. You couldn’t pay me to watch other people’s children. Parents aren’t teaching their kids restraint and are often out of control just like themselves.  Why do you think you see so much spending problems, pouting (children & adults), and violence of sorts? It’s because we’re a Me-Me society taught no patience where everything has to be your way now to be happy.  In truth, these people are never happy no matter what.

4. Ice cream is my comfort food. I hope I need less comforting this year. 🙂

Christian Parody Song was written by Jason Hannah. I think it’s pAwesome!

That’s a wrap for now but I hope to see you on the dance floor for your choice song picks on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

  1. I needed a good laugh, and I sure got one here! Thank you for that, and for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! You know, my primary job throughout high school and college was as a baby-sitter/nanny. I spent hours upon hours watching other people’s children, ranging from infants to teenagers. Now, looking at kids these days, I would never ever do it again. I also could never be a teacher, because what teachers have to deal with in school is the aftermath of the parenting, or lack there of, at home. I applaud those who do care for children for a living, because that must be one of the toughest jobs on earth. Wishing you a happy and healthy day!

    1. Lorraine,

Anyone who’s in daycare or teaching field surely aren’t doing it for the pay because you know it’s not that grand, so it has to be because they love being around kids even other people’s kids. lol I’m glad I provided you with ample laughs. Thanks for visiting!

  2. You think Platypusses are funny? Would those children be the ones swallowing Tide pods and driving blindfolded? Bwahaha! Anyone gets hurt and the mothers will blame anyone but them and their kids who were left to run wild.

    1. Cathy,

It’s incredible what some kids do. I thought God had His job cut out to keep us safe growing up but today’s kids really take the prize for stupid. I fear it’s only going to get worse as these kids will one day be parents. You’re so right about parents ready to blame another but never their kids! I remembered if I did something wrong my parents were like “Wait till you get home, young lady!” Those words struck fear in my heart because I knew I was in deep, deep trouble. Luckily, I never heard them often since I was a relatively good kid. 🙂

  3. Your number 3 is spot on. We have seen parents let their very little ones run wild in the Walmart riding bikes through the store, getting on the handicapped carts and riding them wildly though the store. These same parents wonder why their kids get into trouble. When we lived in South Carolina, we had a website devoted to missing children. I often wondered why there were more children from the Houston area who were missing than from all the rest of the world combined. When we got here I realized why. No one here watches their children. Often they have no idea where they are.

    Have a blessed week.

    1. David,

I know people thought we were overprotective with the way we watched our kids but I’d rather them think that then to have them snatched away. This is so sad how parents do not govern their small ones or just let their teens loose at all hours. That’s just not right. Have a good weekend!

  4. Fun post, Cathy! I am sorry to hear about your neck issues and hope you are on the mend soon. IMO, God gave you with a great personality! 🙂

    1. Eugenia,

My neck is making baby steps but I just left this unattended too long, so I don’t expect it to go away instantly. I’m still perplexed with how my neck develops a crick on the other side while on muscle relaxers, though. That’s just crazy. I think the thing is what I’m on isn’t very strong so sleeping in a strained position still affects my body. Last night, I tucked a pillow between my knees and applied heat to that side and it’s feeling better. I’ll repeat that process on the other side tonight. Maybe, I’ll be nearly good as new by tomorrow morning. 🙂

  5. Those are great answers, Cathy. Ice cream is a great comfort food. While I agree with you that I hope we don’t need so much comforting this year as last, I’m all for more ice cream. 🙂

Thanks for the laughs. I especially enjoyed the Family Circus cartoon!

    Have a blessed weekend.

        1. Suzanne,

There are many things in our early marriage I just sorta liked or didn’t even know about until DH introduced my taste-buds to various delights and now I’m hooked. 🙂

        2. Same here, Cathy. I was introduced to sour cream, guacamole, and mushroom gravy by David. All of those things I thought were too disgusting to even try, but I am glad that I did. 🙂
          Have a blessed day.

  6. Great funnies. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, I enjoyed your answers. I agree about kids today which is why I got out of tutoring several years ago. #’s 1 and 2 are very true too. Have a nice weekend! XO

    1. Ellen,

Isn’t it a shame how horrible things have progressed with kids? Can you imagine what things are going to be like in 10 – 20 years when these kids are adults? The world is slipping backward!

  7. Of course The Lord has a sense of humor. Only a Creator with a sense of humor could make an ostrich!

You are so right about giving people the benefit of the doubt. Everyone has their hard, and another person’s is going to be different from our own.

  8. God does have a sense of humor. A wonderful sense of humor.

Loved all your answer. Ice cream is my favorite dessert, along with pumpkin pie. I wouldn’t call them my comfort food though. I also agree you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Have a fabulous Feline Friday and weekend, Cathy. Love you. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I always think of ‘comfort foods’ in terms of junk food for some reason but I guess soups are more appropriate comfort foods. I remember when I was little and sick how my grandma made me hot chicken soup and that always made me feel the best even though I felt horrible. 🙂

  9. Hi, Cathy!

I’ve been awaiting your Sillies since 5 am, dear friend! 🙂 I disagree that you are proof that God has a sense of humor. When He created you, he made a work of fine art! 🙂 I am fascinated by the duck-billed platypus and wrote an essay on the animal in elementary school. (You bear absolutely NO resemblance to the creature.) I appreciated The Family Circus cartoon because it delivered two clever punchlines. The kitten meme is spot on. Cats and kittens invite hugs, but you’re likely to get scratched or bitten as a reward for your display of affection.

On your Friendly Fill-Ins, I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts in #2 and #3. Always always always withhold judgement until you know the full story. A person who always looks grumpy and mean might be in great physical or mental pain (or both) or struggling under very difficult circumstances. Patience and understanding are key.

Children are happier when parents set limits and discipline them fairly and consistently. Too many parents are trying to be a cool friend to their children rather than doing the difficult work of parenting.

Related to #2 and #3 (above) I urge you to watch the Netflix movie Dumplin’ which features a Dolly Parton soundtrack and sends a very positive message to young women with body image issues. It is a sweet, charming, feel good movie!

I appreciate the clever lyrics to the Christian parody remake of the Monkees’ hit “I’m A Believer.”

I wish you a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

I’m sorry for the delay. Luckily I caught the problem. Apparently, I set this post up to go live tomorrow morning at 6am. smack forehead I’ve been making a few blunders like this and I’m thinking it’s residual effects from the muscle relaxers I take at bedtime. Last night wasn’t a good at all. Actually, yesterday morning I woke with my right arm numb and hurting. I guess it got pinned beneath my body while sleeping close to DH. That’s when I noticed the right side of neck hurting as rolled onto my back. I figured when I took the muscle relaxer last night that this would ease the tension but it’s not gone completely. Today, I’m going to delve into research memory foam pillows to see if this might help release the neck tension. I’m really getting tired of this and I don’t want to rely on muscle relaxers. Anywho, I’m always happy to have you visit and I’m delighted you liked my sillies. I know I’m not funny looking like a platypus but God’s sense of humor gave me a silly personality and for that, I count myself blessed. 🙂 Have a good day, dear friend!
