Girlicious

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Thank you for making the Sunday Edition of Monday’s Music Moves Me a part of your day! The theme this week is whatever music moves you with your choice song picks.   Today’s featured artist has been in my digital file folder since late last year.  Once again, I’m going with a group Tom from SDPP introduced to me last November.  Curious to sample more by the American hip hop, pop artist, I found a playlist of their self-titled debut album (2008), GIRLICIOUS! from which I picked my six favorite songs to share with you.  Hit play to enjoy!

Playlist tracks: 1. Save The World 2. Already Gone 3. My Boo 4. Radio 5. It’s Mine 6. Like Me

I hope you enjoyed the music. Now, it’s time for you to step onto the dance floor, just link up your post that contains a song or two, and hop over to any and all of the other party-goers to boogie with them.

In case you missed the announcement Marie, the brain child, felt the need to step down to tend to her health needs and has asked that I take over for her. You will always have a place when you’re ready to come back, my friend!

⭐️April’s honorary co-hostess!⭐️

This is a music linky party.  Your co-hostess are StacyAlana, and Me.   Every other week we have a suggested music theme (see weekly prompts here) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our music enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

We’re headed into last week of April. I want to say special thanks to Alana for being this month’s featured co-hostess. You did a fab job with your themes and it’s always so much fun to share the dance floor with you. 😉

I’ll be back tomorrow with my next installment in Pencil Sketch Inspired Procreate Recreation art series for the A to Z Challenge and I hope you’ll stop by for a visit. This is CAAC signing off,  until next time have a boogietastic week!

~Cathy

    1. Binky,

That kitty is a cutie! I always wanted a hammock when I was a kid. That was before I realize how horrible insects can be when I’m trying to enjoy the outdoors. 🙂 Thanks for joining the party this week, my furriend!

    1. I appreciate the visit. Perhaps next week, you’ll want to join the dance party. I have a Monday’s Music Moves Me page at the top, click and select the current year, of my blog where you can find all the music prompts listed. 😉

    1. Kathe,

I’m happy you got a chance to come by to sample the tunes spinning for the 4M crew. You’e gonna have to join the party sometime! 😉

    1. Thanks, Brian. We all miss our Marie’s happy self on the dance floor. We’ll just keeping praying for her to get well and return to us soon!

  2. Sorry Marie had to step down, but glad you were willing to keep it going. I will be joining up tomorrow. XO

    1. I hope Marie will start to heal. I’m glad you are taking over which is very nice of you. The music is not my bag but that’s OK not everything will be

  3. What I like about Music Moves Me is the opportunity to explore music on various sites that isn’t necessarily the type of music I would seek out. I’ve learned a lot. This group is totally new to me. Excellent harmonies and some talented singers I wouldn’t have found on my own. I hope Marie feels well enough to check in with a post soon. I think we all miss her. 4. Aww on that cute kitten in their hammock. Adorable.

Love your playlist. First time I’ve heard them. I like.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and last week of April. Love and hugs. ♥

  5. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Paw-some 4M Monday on Sunday, dear friend! I hope you and DH are having a nice weekend.

Awww… I just wanna smooch that kitten, but I’m afraid he might take a swipe at my face! 🙂

Well thank you, dear friend, for once again mentioning Shady’s Place and stating that you drew inspiration from one of my posts. When I did my research for that Malcolm Winters: Junk in the Trunk sneak preview last year, I sampled only a few of the best known hits by Girlicious. I am eager to hear the other songs contained on their debut album. They will be brand new to me this morning.

The first thing I’d like to remind your readers is something I asked of my own readers: Don’t judge a book by its cover. Some people take one look at the sexy attire worn by the members of this and other 21st century girl groups and immediately close their eyes, ears and minds. These women were chosen from thousands who auditioned to become members of Girlicious. They are the best of the best, the cream of the crop, and so credit is due. They are talented vocalists, excellent dancers and showgirls. As I listen to this set, I am impressed by the group’s harmony and vocal range. Their voices dance around each other and then weave together in a tapestry. Their sound on this album is similar to what your heard from Brittney Spears, Pussycat Dolls, En Vogue and other R&B influenced girl pop acts doing during the period. The song “Radio” is a sizzler with a rap in the middle that seems too hot for radio. The song set finishes strong with another ultra hot song, “Like Me,” and a mewsic video that shows the Girlicious babes performing a choreographed dance in a boxing ring.

To sum it up, Girlicious is a sweet treat for those willing to keep their eyes, ears and mind open. For those who are put-off by their skimpy attire and suggestive gyrations, I suggest simply listening to the ladies sing w/o looking at them and let your ears decide. To me, their impact is greatest when they are both seen and heard. The Thoreau quote at the end is fitting. “it is not what you look at that matters, it is what you see.” When I look at Girlicious, I see countless hours of hard work – training, practicing and rehearsing – resulting in a polished dance-pop act that I find very enjoyable.

Yessum, I’m continuing to think about friend Marie and wishing her better days ahead. Thank you again for mentioning friend Shady today, dear friend Cathy. Have a restful Sunday and I’ll see you tamale when the 2022 A to Z Challenge heads into the home stretch!

    1. Tom,

Girlicious have great harmony. Their skimpy attire doesn’t bother me but is a bit distracting. I often listen to the videos so my brain can focus on the song playing. I definitely hear the comparison reference of the Pussycat Dolls and Girlicious. I’m not familiar with En Vogue, I don’t. Now, I’m going to have to check them out. Thanks for dropping by to enjoy the music, my friend!
