Funny quotes, Skywatch Friday, CTST, & Friendly Fill-Ins

sylvestor-28-dangerous-words

Hello, my lovely kittens and dawgs! It’s Friday again. Whoo-hoo, let the weekend begin! It’s been a bit stressful with all the election hoop-a-lah and  I’m doing my part to support my candidate while educating those who may not have all the facts. Now, I need a little downtime, maybe a few good laughs will fix me up and it might do the same for you. 😉

SWF

Today, I thought I shared a photo with the SWF team and fellow shutterbug enthusiasts. This is a first time in many weeks. Hopefully, I can make it a regular part of my routine.

I took this picture with my little Canon point n’ shoot on the Blue Ridge Parkway many years before I owned my big girl camera. The image quality is good considering the source but I admit I used my Affinity Photo editor to tweak the exposure making an ordinary sky shot moody and dramatic. The original lacked pizzaz!

How’s the view through your lens?

enjoy-the-little-things-quotesNow, I’m joining Lexa in Celebrate the small things.

I celebrate having time away from Blogosphere. It wasn’t the ideal break with lots to do, which left me stressed more than relaxed but grateful for the hiatus. During my blogging downtime, I failed miserably with responding to comments and doing return visits. I had every intention but you know how the good intentions usually turn out, right? In my defense, I normally follow through with this time being the exception. I’m REALLY sorry about that, too. On the good side, I got much accomplished. I have more to do with my blog but I think I’ve accepted that this requires more time than I can give it and will just continue to chip away at the problems. Finally, I celebrate returning to my friends in Blogosphere. I missed y’all and am happy to be back!

What are you celebrating?

Join the party below!

1FFBadgeBringing things up in the rear is Friendly Fill-Ins with Annie and Ellen. Every Thursday four fun and easy blank statements are posted for us to borrow, complete, and share on our site. The point is to simply have fun linking, reading, and meeting others who enjoy this sort of thing.

Here’s my response to this week’s fill-ins:

(1) Peace is something everyone wants but it’s something none of us will see on this earth. However, I know it awaits me and other believers in heaven.

peace

(2) I need to do several tasks around the house, but I keep procrastinating.

(3) A friend is someone who respects your decisions and stands by you instead of cutting ties.

(4) I  am too stumped to try to figure out a good response to this fill-in but as it turns out this isn’t too bad of one after all.

Let’s begin celebrating with Friendship Friday and Friday Features linky parties where you’re sure to make new friends and get lots of inspiration!

That’s a wrap for now, but if you like music then I invite you to come back for  Monday’s Mewsic Moves  Me. Until next time, have a fototastic weekend!

  1. These are great quotes and made me laugh. Breaking bones sounds good:) love that picture…so very pretty. Don’t worry about responding, when one is busy, it can take one away from so many other things. We understand.

    1. Birgit, I’m glad the funnies tickled your funny bone. 🙂 I agree sometimes responding out of stress instead of joy takes away the fun of blogging. I surely appreciate everyone’s understanding. Hugs to you, my friend!

  2. Everyone needs a break from blogging every now and then…it can get a bit much. Glad you made it back. I had to giggle at the super market joke. That happens all of the time.

    1. Tonja, thanks for your encouraging words. While I don’t think I’ve ever had anyone as me about why I was in a grocery store they have in other places that seemed odd to ask such a silly question. lol Oh well, maybe people aren’t good conversationalists when they happen by chance to meet someone, you know? Thanks for the visit! I’ll be by too see you soon. 🙂

  3. Hi Cathy and thanks for giving us some light hearted moments this Friday!
Love the moody skies in your photo and I enjoy editing photos so I love how you’ve tweaked this.
Thanks for coming by – you’re welcome any time!

    1. Christine, photo-editing is a relaxing, fun way to unleash my creative energies while giving my picture that little something extra that its missing. I appreciated you stopping by and I hope you’ll come again. Have a good weekend!

  4. We missed you, too, Cathy. 🙂 Glad to have you back. I love your photograph. It is so pretty!
The funnies are great! I especially loved the one with the skeleton and also the one about hunting elephants. One of the surnames in my family tree is Oliphant, which means elephant. 🙂

    Have a blessed weekend!

    1. Suzanne, I’m happy to be back. It’s always hard to get going after a long break but I’m getting there. What an interesting surname, Oliphant. Where does this name originate? Have a good weekend!

      1. I agree. It is just very difficult to get back in the swing of thing after a break. I guess that is why Monday is so hard for school kids and workers.
I think the name originated in Scotland, but I will have to check and get back to you on that one. I have a great history book about the family that I’m reading and will probably still be reading when I croak. It is a very long book. 🙂
I hope that you have a great weekend, too. 🙂

  5. Beautiful shot – I love that kind of sky.
I’d like to think Peace would be a real thing in this world, and I think it could be possibly — but it would require a massive global softening of hearts towards one another. And I cannot imagine what it would take to bring that about. I can only start with me.

    1. Les, True peace on earth would require a change of one’s heart. As Christians, we know that real peace is not possible in this life but while we’re here it would be nice if things were a lot better than they are. However, starting with oneself is a good first step. Let’s spread that basic truth, shall we? Thanks for visiting, my friend and have a glorious weekend!

  6. We all need a break sometimes, but I’m happy to have you back! I love the Sylvestor comic! You did a great job with the picture. The clouds are so beautiful they look painted. Have a great weekend!

    1. Lexa, yes the Sylvester comic is my favorite, too. I remember when DH and I were dating, he would spout this line and I thought it was hilarious because I was thinking, WOW before the punch line. *giggles* Thanks for popping in, have a good weekend!

  7. I too love to sky watch, especially on dark nights with lots of stars visible. Don’t worry about tweaking the photo, I do that often when something needs a bit more pizazz.
Love your humour in the posts.
Looking for a remedy to help fight procrastination? I’ve got the perfect solution for you, but don’t feel like posting it just yet. Maybe tomorrow I’ll share it.

    1. Thank you, Jeffrey! I’ve done way too much procrastinating since DH’s been out of work. I hope he gets a job soon for many reasons like we need the money and I need to get back to normalcy again. lol Everything has its place, though and I know this all will pass. I’m trusting God to open the right door. I’ll check in with you to see if you shared your remedy to fight procrastination. 🙂

  8. LOL! Thanks for the chuckles. Around voting research I was getting entirely too serious! I absolutely LOVED that photo. I’ve never had a fancy camera, but it’s not really necessary when nature poses just right, eh? 😉

    1. Crystal, glad you enjoyed the laughs. The political circus will end soon. Hopefully, America will be in a better place starting Nov. 9th. 🙂 These days you don’t really need a fancy camera. Many smartphones, especially the iPhones, do nearly as a good as DSLR. Plus, you can always photoshop to make minor changes or set the mood like I did with my image. Thanks for popping by for a visit!

  9. For my senior year of high school, I got to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway to school (and later to work in a theater) since we lived in Asheville. It’s a beautiful place.

    1. Tamara, We are in Asheville quite a bit. We love to visit Mt. Mitchell when the crowds are low but on the day I took this picture we did make it there but the parking lot was jammed pack and people all over the place. It’s been years since we’ve seen it that bad. I think things probably will be better now the fall peak season is past. Thanks for stopping by!
