Welcome to Monday’s Music Moves Me on Sundays! This week’s theme is whatever music moves you!
In January, our dance partner, Scriptor, introduced Finis Henderson to me with “Blame It On the Night”. The song released in the early 80s. Somehow the song went unnoticed or I simply don’t remember it. I couldn’t find out the song’s stats when it released, so I’m clueless on how well it did. I learned Finis primarily performs for cruise lines, casinos, and corporate. Perhaps, these career discussions is what kept him out of the commercial music arena. I found a YouTube playlist of the album featuring the new to me song with nine others to enjoy.
Interesting factoid, Fnis’ godfather was the late Sammy Davis, Jr. Cool, right?
Remember music themes are only suggestions. I don’t care one way or another. The important thing is to share whatever music moves you. Now, it’s your turn!
Earlier this morning, I published a BOTB showdown for those interested in playing along. This is an extended weekend with the observation of Labor Day tomorrow in the US and Canada. I hope you are enjoying the weekend as summer begins to wind down. The warm temperatures will stay with us for awhile here in east Tennessee so there’s no hurry to put my shorts away just yet.
This may be my last set of Friendly Fill-ins until after October.
My semi-hiatus with continues and I may keep this routine for the rest of the year. Feel free to do what you want, click “like”, leave an emoji or a short comment. I’m easy going. This flags me of your visit. Have a boogietastic week!

This man has a good 80s vibe and cool that his godfather is Sammy Davis Jnr. Love your drawing and the colouring. It reminds me when hubby and I were at his Aunt’s home and there were many balloons in the sky. There was some festive occasion going on.
Yard work and cleaning is never ending. I started to deep clean the kitchen and then we had our restful vacation. Since then, my pain and tiredness has stopped me from continuing but I hope to restart.
It was nice to know you had a nice time on vacation. You take the extra break because this is supposed to be fun.
Cades Cove — wonderful likeness !
I don’t remember Finis from back in the day but I like his sound. Very nice. Also, I love your drawing. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.
Cool right? You’re welcome!
I love your drawing, Cathy, and thank you for the introduction to Finis. Happy Labor Day!
Hi, Cathy!
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this 1983 album by Finis Henderson. It’s loaded with smooth grooves including ballads and up tempo songs. I read that his cousin, a member of Earth, Wind & Fire, helped him develop his solo career. Indeed, Finis captures the EW&F sound, and he also reminds me of one of his contemporaries Al Jarreau.
Interesting that he is also an impressionist and has worked with A list comedians along the way. Clearly, Finis Henderson has a very successful career going and is always in demand.
I love the aqua, magenta, blue, purple, green and white color scheme used in your hot air balloon composition. It reminds me of my own visit to the Smokys a few years ago. I wish we would have received some of that rain up here in my neck of the woods. The second half of summer has been very hot and too dry, making it a challenge to keep the lawn, trees, shrubs and flowers healthy.
It was a pleasure visiting you this month. If you enjoy a good “cliffhanger,” I hope you’ll check out my new post which begins running this coming Thursday, Sept. 5. Take care and continue to enjoy your summer hiatus, dear friend Cathy!
Thanks for the introduction to Finis. He does have that 80s sound. I hope you have a wonderful, stressfree vacation, Cathy.
I think I vaguely remember Blame it on the Night. He definitely has an 80’s sound about him. Alana ramblinwitham
Nice drawing. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins. great answers. Our yard got out of hand this summer from all the humidity and heat. XO
I don’t know that song butI remember Blame it on the night (or was that Blame it on the rain I remember? Hmmm). It’ws funny how you can miss whole popular songs….
I hope you enjoy your time away, see you soon!
