I didn’t know if I could pull off getting artwork done for yesterday or today but I successfully met the challenge. While DH was at the dentist on Wednesday, I sat in the car armed with both my iPad and sketch pads. During his 4½ hour appointment, I worked on one iPad art project and finished two pencil drawings. This is the first time since 2021 for me to do things old school and it felt good!
DH commented that he sees a big improvement over a year ago which is a great compliment. This man has an eye for detail. He’s a huge help to showing me how to draw better when my brain and hand aren’t lining up properly.
I hesitated a bit to show the drawing of the little child. I actually was attempting to draw an infant but wound up with a toddler. I see a number of things wrong like the head is too round and her hair flips too much behind her ears making her look a little like a pixie but I consider this part of my growth in my doodling journey.
The next face illustration is better in my opinion. Is it perfect? Nope! I have plenty of room to improve.
It’s interesting that when I showed this drawing to DH, he said, “She looks a little like you.” I actually saw the same thing as I took the photo but I wasn’t aiming for a self portrait. Perhaps, my subconscious was at work. My sketch reminds me of my 13 year old self.
There you have it. I’m not a da Vinci yet but I’m getting there. Stop laughing, I am, seriously! Alright, I’m seriously trying. 😆

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to snap a picture of dogwood trees in bloom in my neighborhood. I love awakening of the earth in spring time! For photo enthusiasts, join Yogi for Skywatch Friday

i just loved your baby and the girl is so beautiful ,i loved her as whole
you did great job
we learn whole life this is how life is
a constant process of getting better than yesterday
I hope you don’t become a DaVinci, I hope you stay you, improving and getting better and better. You want your own style, the one The Good Lord gave you and no one else.
Your style is plenty beautiful, too.
Homemade pudding, yum.
Thank you for the lovely picture of the dogwood, I haven’t seen one in a long time, they don’t seem to be very common down here.
You’re right, I can’t be anyone else. God gave me this talent. As I use it, it will grow the way He intended it to. Thank you for the encouraging words!
Cathy, I think your drawings are excellent. You’ve come a long way, my friend. 💕
I really appreciate you saying this, my friend. Thanks!
You are most welcome, Cathy!
These are lovely faces Cathy. And it’s always amazing how life comes in the spring. And thing always happen in a certain order too, which is fun to see. Have a great weekend.
That’s right things always happen in a certain order. The Bibles says, “To every thing there is a season…” 🙂 Thanks for dropping by!
Your art is always fun and those are really good!
Thanks and you’re too kind!
Very nice art. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. We don’t eat out often either. XO
Thanks, Ellen! I’m sorry I forgot to get over to your place to link up. Life gets crazy sometimes.
You have improved.
Thanks, John, that means a lot to me!
Ohhhh I so love your faces!!! It’s difficult to draw infants and toddlers. One line make them look older. LOL You girl face looks wonderful. Eye lashes and great hair. If you draw from your mind you portraits will always look like yourself. It is wierd but true. I have made it a point NOT to draw me. I look at a lot of faces on line, in photos and IRT. You start to notice things that we all take for granted. You have done a great job and I thank you for sharing with FFO. Have a great weekend.
I had no idea that if you’re not looking at a subject that you naturally incorporate your image into your drawing. Well, that explains that! 😀 If things ever settle down, I want to spend more time online finding faces to sketch and links on how to draw different features. That would help a lot with developing my skills. Thanks for your encouraging words and visit!
…our dogwoods are swollen, but it will several week before we see flowers. Enjoy your spring.
It’s a beautiful sight to see dogwoods and other bloom trees bursting with life. It takes my breath away sometimes. Thanks for visiting!
Lovely work on faces Cathy
Thank you, Christine!
