Day 9: S.a.D Step Into Christmas

Christmas greetings!  For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday.  Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries.  There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.

Elton John released Step Into Christmas as a single in 1973.  Although this song charted # 24 on the UK Billboard Singles Chart, but in recent history the song made a comeback rising to number 8 on the same chart in 2019 and it reached # 56 on the Cash Box Top 100 Singles chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Christmas Singles chart in the US.  I honestly do not remember it.  If you’re curious what song was on the original B-side it was Ho, Ho, Ho (Who’d Be a Turkey at Christmas).

Don’t even worry with leaving a comment. This is for your enjoyment.  There’s no worries or fuss or strings attached. Simply a moment for you to unwind and refresh your mind and body. 😉

I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down.  The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love.   It’s the most wonderful time of the year! X💋X💋, Cathy

A little gift from me to you. 😉

    1. Marie,

Yes, I sent it to your Comcast email address like I always do. I don’t think I even have your gmail addy saved. I’m glad you were able to do a little Christmas shopping. That’s fun. I don’t like going to retailers like I used to but I do like browsing various online sites to make my purchases while I listen to Christmas music. 🙂 Have a good day, my dear!

  2. I’ve not heard this before. I like it. Christmas music is great.

Have a fabulous day, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  3. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Thankful Thursday and S. a. D. #9, dear friend! I’m happy to be reporting for duty at my regular time today.

I enjoyed hearing this Elton John seasonal single for the first time this morning. I see that the record reached #8 in the UK. There’s good reason why you and I don’t remember it. Although it made Billboard’s special holiday chart, it failed to register on the Hot 100 and didn’t even Bubble Under. It also missed the U.S. Easy Listening chart. That’s a little surprising because, by the time “Step Into Christmas” was released at Christmas 1973, Elton was red hot in the states, riding a six single hit streak that included two chart-toppers.

Thanks for the new-to-me holiday mewsic and for the steaming cup of coffee, dear friend Cathy. Have a super day and I’ll see you tamale!
