Day 29 : S.a.D This Endris Night

This month, I’m sharing a Christmas song a day and although Christmas Day is now past, I’m finishing up the challenge I started.   Today’s song pick is 400 years older than my all-time favorite carol, Silent Night.  The mid-15th century English carol goes by different titles: Thys Endris Night,” “Thys Ender Night” or “The Virgin and Child”. The lyrics tell the conversation between a young baby Jesus and His mother.  Only two versions of the song lyrics have made over time and one can be heard in this version by Dan Fogelberg of This Endris Night!

You’ll find This Endris Night on Fogelberg’s 1999 First Christmas Morning album.

Don’t worry about commenting.  There’s no worries or fuss or strings attached, simply a moment for you to refresh your body and mind. 😉

I’ll be here with bells on tomorrow morning with another Christmas song to start your day.  Allow yourself time to enjoy the last few days of the holidays without anymore fuss.  Reflect on the beauty of the season with your favorite hot beverage and think about the wonderful things to come in the new year.  X💋X💋, Cathy

  6. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Wild and Almost Wordless Wednesday and S. a. D. Day 29, dear friend!

I never heard of this ancient song that preceded “Silent Night.” Thanks for posting it. As I listened to the words of the song, it gave me goose bumps to realize they were written all those centuries ago. Dan Fogelberg’s recording of it is beautiful. It touches the soul. Thank you very much for introducing me to what might be the oldest song I have ever heard.

I have a doctor appointment this morning and a few more blog stops to make before I leave, so I need to scoot. Have a wonderful day, dear friend Cathy!
