Day 17: S.a.D Three Pairs of Long Johns On

Posted on December 17, 2021

Christmas greetings!  For the month of December, I plan to share a Christmas song each day with the hope of adding a little extra cheer to your holiday.  Part of my challenge in this series is to bring to you a new-to-me song or artist discoveries.  There’s no telling what song pick I’ll go with but you’ll find artists from all genres celebrating in song this almost magical, holy season.

On Friday’s I like to keep things on the fun side.  The work week is ending for most, the weekend is beginning and laughter just makes it feel right some how.  Turn up your speakers to listen to a funny song written by Bryant Oden performed by an unknown artist, Three Pairs of Long Johns On!

To follow along with the song…

It was getting late Christmas Eve Day
And Santa was packing his sleigh
Mrs Claus came out and said there’s no doubt
It’s time for you to be on your way
But remember what I always say

CHORUS:
Put 3 pairs of long johns on
3 pairs of long johns on
It’s cold up there in the Christmas air
take care what you wear when you’re gone
Put three pairs of long johns on.

Santa said yes my dear
You tell me that every year
I’m already dressed the way you request
So Snowflake don’t you fear
I’m toasty from my toes to my ears

He kissed Mrs Claus good bye
And then with a wink of his eye
He hopped on his sleigh and said let’s be on our way
Good cheer reindeer let’s fly
And soon they were high in the sky

CHORUS:

And He had three pairs of long johns on
Three pairs of long johns on
It’s cold up there in the Christmas air
take care what you wear when you’re gone
He had three pairs of long johns on.

He flew all over the world
While the Christmas snow whirled and swirled
He went from house to house as quiet as a mouse
And as quick as the flick of a squirrel
Leaving toys for every boy and girl

Filled with the Christmas mood
Lots of kids left him food
He ate every last crumb and every last plum
Cuz he didn’t want to be rude
But his buttons were coming unglued

CHORUS

In a small house in a small town
With a toy in his hand he bent down
His pants they split right where you sit
It made such a loud ripping sound
That half the town gathered round

He backed out the door to the snow
Shouted Merry Christmas, HO HO HO
Then he jumped on his sled with his cheeks bright red
And said I so didn’t know they could glow
But at least there wasn’t much of a show

CHORUS:

Cuz he had three pairs of long johns on
Three pairs of long johns on
It’s cold up there in the Christmas air
take care what you wear when you’re gone
He had three pairs of long johns on.

CHORUS

A bit of silliness for Friday Funnies

Earlier this week, I spotted The Holderness Family newest song parody for the holidays, “Where The Presents Are Always Stacked…” and decided to squeeze it in at the end.  I mean, who can’t use a few giggles, right?

I’ll back tomorrow morning with bells on with another Christmas song waiting to start your day and please don’t let the hustle of the holiday weigh you down.  The holiday festivities are beautiful and fun but the true reason warms the heart better than these earthly things. Take time to bask in God’s great love.   It’s the most wonderful time of the year! X💋X💋, Cathy

They are both funny. That first song has a Celtic vibe and her voice is quite beautiful and the second is hilarious. I don’t know how they keep coming up with such great parodies.

    Hi, Cathy!

Happy Friday and S. a. D. Day 17, dear friend! Yessum, the weekend is upon us and I’m in the mood for your Sillies.

That’s a cute song about Santa’s Christmas eve mission to the houses of every girl and boy. Imagine all those treats left for him, and he managed to eat every single bite to avoid hurting kids’ feelings. As a result, Santa’s buttons popped and his pants split, waking up the town folk. I thoroughly enjoyed the song. It’s brand new to my ears this morning.

The Holderness Bunch always comes through with a great parody song and video and this one is no exception. They are a talented, engaging couple, and that includes their writing and singing ability and comedic acting in all of their vignettes. I want that picture of a Yak in a Tub to hang on my wall! (LOL)

Thanks for sharing these smileworthy holiday songs and videos, dear friend Cathy. I wish you and DH a safe and happy weekend!
