Dance like it’s still the 80s!

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me!  This is a themed week.  Marie wants us to share songs from the 80s and 90s.   So, let’s dance like it’s still the 80s with these Madonna hit songs!

Dance like it’s still the 80s with Madonna playlist:  1.  Holiday  2. Lucky Star  3.  True Blue  4.  Crazy For You  5.  La Isla Bonita

This month’s honorary co-hostess is Marie from XmasDolly

❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵❤️🎵

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

I’m now on my summer month blogging routine.  I’ll be keeping things grooving on the dance floor for the most part and everything else I’m undecided on.  One more thing, after last week’s technical issues with my site I decided to push posts to my secondary Monday’s Music Moves Me (Update: site no longer active) WordPress site on Sundays for those who want to join the linky party early or to get the weekly theme.  That’s a wrap for now. Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. Madonna was so 80’s. Sometimes shocking but always talented and can she ever look like Marilyn Monroe. I have to admit, she isn’t my favorite performer of the 80’s but “Holiday” is one of my favorites of hers. The only song I didn’t know was the last one, and I liked the Latin vibe of the song and the video – in fact that song is being added to my mental list of Madonna songs I like.

  2. What a great quote, CK, and good advice too. We need some drums here for the twofeet brothers and sister…MOL… Madonna was a great performer, and we loved the way she shocked the world..MOL…in a way she still does…MOL😸Loved the Theme! Pawkisses for a Happy Dance and week ahead🐾😽💞

    1. Binky,

You nailed it on the head when you said Madonna shocked the world. The way she dressed definitely got people’s attention. I just thought it was all overdone but knew it was part of her act. Now days when it comes to mind I just smile thinking about the 80s and how fun entertainers like Madonna made it. 🙂

  3. Sorry for being so late. What great songs you have here. Love it. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

    1. Brian,

That’s okay. We all can’t like the same musicians. I’m curious, do enjoy her songs more today then yesterday? I find there are many oldie bands, especially the heavier rock genres that I not only discovered that I liked but appreciate their talents. I may have not liked them back in the day but at least they could sing and had their own sound unlike most of the so-called artists today. Thanks for joining me on the dance floor!

    1. LW,

I’m happy my music set your body to movin’! Hey, I hear you about dreaming about taking a holiday. Although things are getting back to normal in the states, we have reservations on taking one this year because of the unknowns such did the pandemic force businesses we’re interested to shut down for good and will Covid restrictions still be in place…. I just wonder how much of this madness is really necessary. The cold/flu kills hundreds of thousands each year yet no one makes a big deal over it. Just between you, me, and 7.9 billion others I think this boils down to control. Oh well…thanks for boogieing by. Stay safe and be well, my friend! 😉

  4. I have left two comments and I cannot find them. 🙁 Today is not my day! 🙁

  5. Okay let me try this again! I wrote you a message & it disappeared, so if you find it… yep that was me! hahaha figures! Anyway, as I was saying I didn’t agree with the way Madonna did things in the early part of her career. She was blasphemous as far as I’m concerned, but she did start to mellow out later on in years. So hopefully one day I shall learn that blog of mine out…. hopefully!!! love ya girlfriend! HUGS!!!!

  6. Now ya see, back in the 70’s & 80’s that’s when real music really made ya boogie, right girlfriend? hehehe Love all your choices to say the least. I really didn’t care for some of the tunes she did because I didn’t like the videos she did & how she did them. There were a couple of tunes early on in her career that she just blasphemed a few things that I just didn’t believe in or agree with, but as she got older she changed her ways which was good, and I started to like some of her tunes… like “Don’t cry for me Argentina” not sure of the title, but you catch my drift. So maybe some day I’ll catch on how to do my blog, but for now… I’m still tryin’. Sending hugs……… love ya… Marie

    1. Marie,

I’ve heard folks say some of Madonna’s songs are blasphemous but I never understand why. Maybe, I did at the time and have since forgotten. Usually we all change as we get older and someone in the public eye is going to be scrutinized even more. Thanks for coming by to dance with me and I’m sorry WP was acting ornery with your comments.

    1. Mary,

I know I have one of Madonna’s CD but I think there’s another one or two in the house. Thanks for swinging over to dance with me, darlin’!

  7. Madonna was the Queen of Pop during the ’80’s. You picked a few good ones.

I misread the theme and did both, in two playlists…

    1. John,

Two playlists? Alrighty, I can’t wait to come by to boogie with you!! I absolutely love your long playlists!! Don’t feel bad about misreading the theme. I somehow missed the putting in the “70s” as one of the decades. I thought I simply copied and pasted what Marie sent me but I guess I goofed. blush

  8. I love the drum quote. 🙂 I also love music from the 80’s. I used to love all these songs. XO

  9. Yup, Monday…meh…LOL. I like Madonna her early work and later but she must stop reworking her body because she looks like a drag queen. Madonna is one that knows how to reinvent herself from these early days of mish mash to Marilyn wanna be and Marlene Dietrich wanne be. I do love her torpedo bra days

    1. Birgit,

Celebrities tend to overdo things when it comes to reinventing their appearances. I think we should always strive to look our best but cosmetic surgery isn’t the answer. I prefer to see an aging actress natural beauty over what a surgeon can do. I never got into Madonna’s weird stage attire. I remember her wearing the torpedo bra. That just looks uncomfortable and not at all sexy to me but it’s something that’ll stay with you forever. I’m sure that was her intent. Thanks for boogieing with me, dearie!

  10. Awww on that sweet kitty. I so remember thinking that when I was going to work every Monday morning.

    Love your playlist.

Love the quote. I’ve done just that.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

    1. Sandee,

I remember thinking the same thing about Mondays when I worked but you know I still do with DH not yet retired. The one good thing about the pandemic is it’s allowed him to work from home so I can spend more time with him and it makes Mondays easier to deal with. We’re hoping he can work from home permanently. 🙂 That would be awesome!

  11. “Crazy for You” is my favorite here. The first two songs scream Disco and “True Blue” is a 50’s Doo Wop tribute tune. Nice playlist from a superstar for Monday morning. Have a blessed week.

    1. Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor this morning. I’m glad there weren’t any hiccups this time. Also happy to know that I picked a few of Madonna’s hits that you liked. She was such a huge success in the 80s pounding out one hit after another. Her stage attire was crazy but then that was just part of the act to garner the attention she wanted. Have a boogietastic week, my friend!

  12. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend.

I wanna smooch that little kitten in your opening meme. The bitty kitty can’t believe it’s Monday already, and he or she needs to begin another tough, busy week of eatin’, sleepin’ and playin.’ 🙂

With many memorable hits and mewsic videos to her credit, Madonna is one of my favorites. I enjoyed reviewing some of her hit songs this morning. “Holiday” was The Material Girl’s first U.S. hit in the weeks leading up to Christmas, 1983. The single topped the Dance chart. I remember Madonna appearing on American Bandstand and doing the song. When Dick Clark asked what her goal is, she quickly replied “To conquer the world,” or something to that effect. In the years that followed, she reached that goal. Her recordings were expertly produced and had a fresh, new “today” sound that set the tone for other artists who adopted her singing and fashion style, making the 80s an exciting decade, perhaps the last great decade for popular mewsic. The videos for “True Blue” and “La Isla Bonita” were requested and played heavily on the MTV station where I worked at the time.

Ha! That meme at the end of your post reminds me of the Christmas morning in the 60s when I discovered a real drum set under the tree. Until then, I had been using a rubber drum pad that students use for practice. I was overjoyed to be able to start banging on real drums but, looking back, I’m sure I unnerved my parents and the neighbors with my frequent drum concerts. 🙂

Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

It’s Monday once again. Our weekend was nice. We managed to take a lovely drive through the mountains and fortunate to spot an elk leaving Cherokee then on the spur on our way toward Pigeon Forge we saw a large black bear. We weren’t close enough so that I could get a good picture but I did get something a shot with my iPhone. You’d have to know what to look for to make out the bear. It was exciting nonetheless!

I think you’re right Madonna did conquer the world…musically speaking. What a sensation she was in the day! Your recollections of your first drum set made me smile and I’m sure the pounding was a bit unnerving for your folks at times. I remember one Christmas when our son was about 2 years old his uncle and aunt got him a battery operated fire engine. I asked them if they hated me because that thing was sure to drive me crazy. lol Thankfully for my sanity like all toys, this one lost its interest in time with DS. 😀

Thanks for joining me on the dance floor, dear friend. Have a boogietastic week!
