Colors That Sparkle

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee from Comedy Plus.

Welcome to Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me! This week’s theme is for National Coloring Day.  Let’s try thinking outside the crayon box with this one by picking song titles/lyrics with a general art theme or how about building a playlist featuring your school colors? It’s time to sparkle with colors!

My Colors That Sparkle playlist includes these tracks:

  1. Black and Gold  ~Sam Sparro
  2. Silver, Blue & Gold  ~Bad Company
  3. Eyes of Silver  ~Doobie Brothers
  4. Carried Away  ~Crosby, Stills and Nash
  5. Wrong Side of Memphis  ~Trisha Yearwood
  6. Silver Springs  ~Fleetwood Mac

This month’s honorary co-hostess is ME!!

DISCLOSURE…this is a mewsic linky party, which means all participates are sharing songs that one can listen to from YouTube or Vimeo and a not a post about mewsic or mewsicians.  Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.

To celebrate National Coloring Day, I found a few fun resources for those who like to color, an activity for all ages.

Yesterday, I learned my daddy fell off a ladder on Thursday. He put off going to the doctor and was miserable all weekend. My niece got him to go the hospital or maybe they called an ambulance Saturday. He broke four ribs, possibly a fifth. He’s in the hospital. I’m not sure how long he’ll be in there. One of he concerns is he has bad lungs and his inactivity could cause pneumonia to set up in his lungs.  He’s in terrible pain.  Please keep him in your prayers.  His name is Oscar.

We needed to take care of something today and so I may not get a chance to stop by today to visit but I’ll catch up with ya tomorrow for sure. Please come tomorrow for a double post featuring another edition of Tickle Me Tuesday along with my mid-month BoTB.  Have a boogietastic week!  X💋X💋, Cathy

  1. I’m late getting here and just read about your Dad. Prayers will be on their way shortly. I seemed to recall your Dad was a coal miner so I will be waiting for further updates. You picked some nice songs today; I’ve seen Bad Company in concert and we have (or had) most every Doobie Brothers albums. Silver Springs is another classic. Take care, Cathy, and I am happy to know that many are thinking of you and your Dad.

    1. Alana,

Yes, Daddy was a coal miner. That’s the reason for his bad lungs but he used to smoke in his younger years, too. The cold/flu and allergy seasons generally make things worse for Daddy’s breathing. He gets bronchitis frequently, so does Mom. Daddy is 82 and Mom is 75. Each are having a difficult time this year with their health. It’s concerning. I know God has His hands upon them, though. I keep after them to take care of themselves and after years of harping I think it finally sunk in especially for Mom. I’ll bring updates as I learn more. I’m glad you found time to boogie with me, dearie!

  2. Oh my goodness, girlfriend you do what you have to do & if there’s something I can do for you just let me know. Of course Daddy Oscar will be in my prayers. We are all sisters & brothers are we not… so tell Daddy that he needs to be more careful, and I’ll pray to the Lord to send him a special angel for a while to take good care of him and help him heal & walk safely quickly. Amen. Praise the Lord and send my friend an Angel to keep her well and keep her from worrying (too much). Amen. God speed my friend. HUGS Oh, and I won’t be around Wednes. & home on Friday. We’re going down to Michigan to my step-brother’s house. Hadn’t seen him & his wife for almost 2 yrs. They moved up there & my daughter says it’s great & right on the lake & he has a Pantoon boat & everything. I’ll be home on Friday. Love, Marie Prayers for you & your Daddy! hugs

    1. Marie,

Thanks for the offer. The only thing I ask of you is to keep praying for Daddy’s healing. He’s in pain and I worry about his breathing because of his bad lungs which puts strain on his heart. Enjoy your trip and visit with your brother. Be safe, dear friend.

    1. Thanks, Mimi! Mom said he was doing something to help ready him for bear season as there’s been one hanging around their home. I guess he won’t be doing any bear hunting this fall. Poor fella! Bad for Daddy but good for the bear.

    1. Ellen,

I appreciate the prayers for Daddy. I spoke with Mom yesterday twice. She finally heard from the doctor who reported the tests they ran all came back clean. They did find something on the CT scan but Daddy already knows about a suspicious place on his lungs. He believes it’s just coal dirt but the doctor wants to do a biopsy. That’s probably not going to happen. The doctor also told Mom that Daddy was doing a little better yesterday afternoon. He’s still in a lot of pain, though.

  3. Awww on the pup. It wouldn’t be in trouble if it lived with me. So precious.

    Love the quote. Spot on.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥

  4. That Sam Sparro song was interesting, and went well with the video (or is it the video went well with the song?).

The one by Bad Company is nice, a little lighter than their usual.

And I’m glad you included my favorite female country singer from Monticello, Georgia in your list….

      1. John,

Daddy is 82. He has really bad lungs because of black lung and he used to smoke. I think this is one of the biggest concerns because his oxygen level is really low which is also affecting his heart. They ran some tests last night and more this morning. Hopefully, Mom will have some answer this afternoon sometime. I’ll be checking back in with her later this afternoon. Thanks for your prayer, my friend.

    1. Robin,

Many thanks! I’m sure Daddy will be okay. It’s just hard being so far away and hearing his pain over the phone that makes it difficult. He’s a tough cookie so I know he’ll bounce back with God’s help. 😉

  5. So sorry about your dad. My husband broke 7 ribs once and it was a really long recovery. Thinking positive thoughts for him. Some great music you have there. Silver Springs is a favorite of mine. I loved watching Stevie sing it at Lindsey.

    1. Janet,

I can’t imagine the pain of broken ribs but it has to be some kind of horrible misery from the way Daddy sounded last night. Your poor husband probably knows all too well what my Daddy is going through. WOW, how on earth did your hubby get his injury? Thanks for joining me on the dance floor and for your positive energies. Have a wonderful day!

      1. He did a really stupid thing and stood on a movable chair. He was in the garage, it was late at night and I was already in bed. He barely made it to the house to get me. I drove him to the ER and the doctor said, “Next time call an ambulance please so you don’t take the chance of puncturing a lung!”

        1. Janet,

Just thinking about this makes me cringe! It’s a good thing he didn’t kill himself. I bet he learned a good lesson that day, huh? Ouch, this hurts me just thinking about it.

  6. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Awww-some 4M Monday to you, dear friend!

I see that it is also or National Coloring Day, and I enjoyed your playlist of colorful songs. Thanks for the introduction to Sam Sparro, an Australian singer and songwriter who performs in the Funktronica and Neo Soul mewsical categories. In 2008 Sam’s “Black And Gold” single reached #2 in the UK and went top 5 in Australia and Ireland. I am familiar with the other artists in your set but not their color songs. “Eyes of Silver” by the Doobies almost sounds like “Listen To The Music” with different lyrics. With references to “Pink Cadillac” and “Blue Suede Shoes,” Trisha Yearwood’s “Wrong Side of Memphis” is a great song, a real toe-tapper. In recent years I have become a big fan of classic Fleetwood Mac and I enjoyed their “Silver Springs” song. It is ironic that one of my favorite songs with a color in the title, “Orange Skies” by the California based band Love, now reminds me of the orange skies in that state and in Oregon as residents and wildlife endure the world’s worst air quality, the smoke choked conditions brought about by numerous wildfires. Prayers needed.

Cathy, I am very sorry to learn that your father fell, broke his ribs and is hospitalized. I offer prayers for daddy Oscar’s speedy and complete recovery, dear friend. I’ll be thinking about him and about you!

    1. Tom,

Thanks for visiting early this morning. We got home a little while ago from taking the Avalon to the body shop for repair from that traitor trailer mishap from last November. I’m glad to finally get this done. What a year it has been, right? I couldn’t place the song, “Orange Skies” you referenced, so I sampled it on YouTube. It’s a new-to-me tune and would certainly be fitting with nature at work along the northwest region of the country currently. I shutter to think about those wildfires. That’s so scary!

I appreciate your prayers. Daddy is still in the hospital. I spoke with Mom a few minutes ago. She didn’t have the results of some of the tests they did last night on him but should once the doctor returns from lunch. They ordered another test this morning and I hope they’ll those findings available when Mom speaks to the doctor. He isn’t in the best of health with black lung, along with other medical issues. One thing that’s concerning is his oxygen level. It’s quite low as is his heart rate which no doubt is affected by his inability to get enough air into his lungs. God has my Daddy in His hands and I know all will be fine. Thanks for your prayers, my friend. Have a good day!
