Great music list – I was listening to Lady Antebellum’s Christmas album as I was making edible Christmas presents the other day. Imagine peace and happiness in the whole world – how wonderful that would be. Have a lovely day.

      Pamela,

It would be awesome if we lived in a peaceful, happy world. At least at Christmas, we see a bit more of both, now to figure out how to get people to hold onto that feeling all year. Thanks for dropping by and have a good day. 🙂

Cathy girlfriend I cannot begin to tell you how busy I have been lately trying to catch up with Christmas. I was so down in the dumps in the beginning with no Christmas spirit, but when my hubby put my spirit back in me by taking me to Mooseheart for a drive through their grounds to see their light show it was amazing. I’m going to try to do a post on it real soon. Anyways Feliz Navidad is what I hear all the time in Aurora when I got shopping it’s pure hispanic over there, but it gets up hoppin’ too & fro… cute lil’ number thanks for sharing & MERRY CHRISTMAS My sweet! BIG HUGS!

      Marie,

Sometimes it hard to find that Christmas spirit when there’s too much other stuff congesting ones’ life but nothing rouses the mood like seeing festive, flashy, colored lights, right? There seem to be more homes decorated this holiday season than past Christmases which delights me to no end! I’m happy that you’re feeling better. Just remembers Christmas is in the world all year round and His light shines for all to see…if we just look. 😉 Have a holly, jolly Christmas girlfriend and let the Christmas mewsic move you!

      Lisa,

I could almost listen to Christmas mewsic all year long. I usually begin around Thanksgiving and continue through until mid-January. I make myself stop because I don’t want to take away the specialness of Christmas mewsic, you know? 🙂

Kept waiting for Paddy Moloney on the uileann pipes in the Chieftains’ number, but I guess he played whistle on that one. Oh well… My favorite Chieftains album is “The Long Black Veil.” where they back up pop singers (two favorites: Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You” and Sinead O’Connor’s “Foggy Dew,” which is just stunning).

I think I told you that I fall in love with Karen Carpenter every time I hear her sing. She doesn’t look as terribly emaciated in these pictures, and you can really see what a beautiful woman she was. How anyone could think of convincing her that she was fat boggles the imagination. It was kind of fun seeing Chicago favorites Kukla and Ollie (the puppets behind Richard at around the two-minute mark). Just so’s ya know, Kukla is the clown (“kukla” is “clown” in Russian) and Ollie is the dragon (his full name was Oliver J. Dragon). Somehing about Christmas makes me think like a kid again…

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

      John,

I didn’t even know what an eating disorder was until Karen Carpenter’s death. Girls and women lack confidence with how they look. Sometimes, they come to an understanding or acceptance of who they are, growing comfortable in their skins, then others keep looking to the other gal to never measure up. The bottom line is to be true to oneself. I’d like to think girls are learning this but I think it’ll be a problem for as long as the world stands. It’s just too bad that Karen Carpenter fell victim to her own misconceptions or maybe this was her way of controlling the one thing in her life that she knew she could. I heard that later situation is the problem for many young girls’ eating disorders. I didn’t know the Chieftains did backing for some pop artists. That’s interesting. Thanks for stopping in for a dance. I’m heading over to your place next!

      Alex,

I can spell easy words just fine. It’s words like antidisestablishmentarianism or supercalifragilisticexpialidocious that I have trouble with. Thankfully, I have there’s a dictionary just a click away. 🙂

How clever to spell out “family”. I’m not exposed to Celtic music that much so it was fun to listen to. Feliz Navidad is a staple at a Christmas sing a local company sponsors in their lobby each December on their last business day before Christmas. If I can get there this year (it will be Friday) I will try to record a little of it for next 4M! Have a great week, Cathy, and thank you for your beautiful comment on my blog.

    Hi, Cathy!

I am sipping morning coffee and getting into a festive mood thanks to your Monday mewsical lineup. Over the years I have heard Jose Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad” many times but never tire of it. Martina’s rendition of “Away In A Manger” is new to me and much appreciated. The traditional Irish folk band The Chieftains are brand new to me and I loved listening to their “March of the Three Kings.” The world doesn’t seem the same w/o Karen Carpenter in it. Karen delivered a wonderful performance of a sweet, sad classic that seems ideally suited for her – “I’ll Be Home For Christmas (If Only In My Dreams).” I also enjoyed the splendid harmony of Lady Antebellum doing “Let it Snow.” The fiddle adds a touch of down home goodness to the mix. I also loved hearing Gwen and Blake singing their peppy seasonal song “You Make It Feel Like Christmas.”

The pin-up girl at the end of the post is dressed for Christmas in Florida. 🙂 Our nice cool spell ended yesterday when it turned unpleasantly warm again and we needed to run the a/c!

Have a super week, dear friend Cathy!

      Tom,

I have a Chieftains album that DH got me a few years ago. I really enjoy the sound of traditional Irish folk mewsic. Speaking of Christmas albums, DH DID get Gwen Stefani’s album for me. What a sweetheart! We’re expected to get some warm weather the next several days which I’m happy about. We won’t be running our AC, though. lol Next week’s forecast shows cold, nasty conditions. I’m going to enjoy these days while I can, too. I know it’s not too pleasant for y’all, though. I guess you’ll be taking a dip in the pool for Christmas while we’re wearing polar fleece to keep toasty warm. Have a joyful, Merry Christmas dear friend!
