Christmas Memories Through Music

Awww Mondays hosted by Sandee at Comedy Plus

Our theme for the entire month is Christmas music and today I thought it would be fun if we share songs that hold specific holiday memories.   You’re welcome to build on this idea or run with your own.  It makes no difference to me as long as there’s music for us to enjoy.

My Christmas memories of I’ll Be Home For Christmas reminds me of every holiday I was unable to spend with my parents and siblings. I don’t know what lead to the conversation but one Christmas while sitting down for breakfast, my late Father-in-law shared that his favorite Christmas song was Silver Bells sung by Bob Hope. That gave me the idea to buy it for him.  It proved to be a challenge because the only media device he had was an old cassette player but I found it.  Christmas Vacation reminds me of the many hours spent with our kids when they were young watching holiday movies including National Lampoon’s Christmas classic.  Hark! The Herald Angels Sings my 4th grade Christmas play in which I was a angel. O Holy Night the time my Girl Scout troop sang Christmas carols to a terminally ill boy who lived at the end of hollow that we walked to on a cold, starry night. When I was 3 or 4, I remember watching Frosting the Snowman on my grandparents 13 inch black and white TV downstairs where there was no heat. It felt like an ice box but I didn’t want to miss the program. My friends and I often sang Twelve Days of Christmas  on the long school bus ride from the junior high to the high school I went to.

This is a music link up.  Your post must contain at least one song or your URL is marked “No Music”.

4M co-hostess are featured in my right side bar underneath the banner. The guidelines are simple.  Every other week, a suggested (not mandatory) theme is given to build your song picks. YouTube and other music sites have options to embed individual songs or to create a playlist into your post. On the off weeks, we dance to whatever music moves you (your choice)! To access the party, add your music post below, and visit others on the dance floor.

Last week, I mentioned the Hallmark film A Biltmore Christmas. Here in the library on the table sits an important focal prop of the movie, an hourglass.

Thank you for coming to the party. This is CAAC signing off,  remember to make time to enjoy all the wonders of the holiday season and have a boogietasticweek, my friends!  X💋X💋, Cathy

Monday’s Sparks…

“Christmas is most truly Christmas when we celebrate it by giving the light of love to those who need it most.” ❧ Ruth Carter Stapleton

I captured the glow of the fireplace better in this image and barely got the hourglass in but still it’s a nice picture.

  1. Thank you for sharing your Christmas memories. The time you participated in the singing of carols to the terminally ill boy must have especially made an impression on you. Bing Crosby is always a welcome voice at Christmas time. I love hearing A Christmas Song because the opening lyric “Chestnuts Roasting on an open fire….” remind me of the roasted chestnut vendors you would see (and smell) in New York City. 2. I’ve been so busy with Christmas and my tree is still not done. I’m hanging the lameta..oops, tinsel, now one by one. I love your songs and my mom missed her parents especially her mom. When I hear Bing at Christmas I think of my dad. His last Christmas, I bought him Bing’s Christmas album with Too-Ra-loo and Irish Lullaby on it. He played it until February before the brain cancer finally grabbed him. Sad about the boy but your heart must have felt good bringing joy to him. I love Silver Bells…an American Christmas Carol just like White Christmas.

  3. Beautiful selection of Christmas music, Cathy! 💖 I was worried about you when I read about the tornados that hit Tennessee. I don’t know exactly where you live but was hoping in you weren’t in their path of destruction. 💖

  5. Well, I didn’t get to hear your Christmas songs cuz it said something about banning them here in America……. Strange banning Christmas songs at all for pity sakes. Our world is going to hell in a bushel basket as my dad use to say! Anyway my love a very Merry Christmas to you and yours. HUGS HUGS AND MORE HUGS!!! 🙂 LOVE THE PICS TOO!

  6. What John said about Bing and Christmas. I agree.

Aww on that cute bear. Adorable.

This post made me smile more than once.

Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Cathy. Love and hugs. ♥

  7. Those are some lovely musical Christmas memories, Cathy! 🙂 I’ll be featuring one of those songs for a special edition of BOTB on the 15th. The Biltmore Library is absolutely gorgeous, especially with the Christmas tree and decorations for added atmosphere. Your photos really bring it to life! 👌
