Howdy-hi, folks! We’re in the last month of the year which means on the Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me dance floor we’ll be sharing Christmas music each week throughout December. If you’re a Grinch or Scrooge type then you might want to sit this one out…or you could just hang around, maybe the sounds of Christmas will melt your cold hearts into a pile of warm goo.
In my search for new musical discoveries I stumble on today’s feature artists in an article from last year. The article mentioned Just Like Christmas being an infectious, cheery tune which naturally I had to hear for myself. The author was right as rain, definitely the feel good kinda of vibe one expects to experience during the holiday season and worth the share but instead of one song I’m giving you the entire Christmas album playlist I found on their YT channel. Hit play to enjoy the slowcore sound of the Minnesota based indie rock band, Low!
Playlist tracks include: 1. Just Like Christmas 2. Long Way Around the Sea 3. Little Drummer Boy 4. If You Were Born Today 5. Blue Christmas 6. Silent Night 7. Taking Down the Tree 8. One Special Gift

This month’s honorary co-hostess is Marie from Xmas Dolly

This is a mewsic linky party. Every other week we have a suggested mewsic theme (see side menu) to build your song set around and all participants share YouTube or Vimeo videos for our mewsic enthusiasts. Failure to meet this basic guideline puts your URL in danger of being removed or labeled – NO MUSIC.
What new Christmas music discoveries have you made this season? Any song or artist suggestions? I hope you’ll continue to join me each day as I continue to share with you from just about any genre a song to bring the magic and wonder of the holiday to you. That’s a wrap for now. Have a boogietastic week! X💋X💋, Cathy

Hi, Cathy!
Happy Pawww-some 4M Monday on Monday, dear friend! I hope you and DH had a nice weekend. Thank you for taking time to reassure me here and at Shady’s Place that you guys weathered the terrible storm without harm.
Awww – I love that illustration of the cute little girl helping mommy prepare for the holidays by rolling cookie dough. That could be a picture of you from childhood, Cathy, because I imagine you helped in the kitchen regularly, gaining knowledge and skill that turned you into one of the world’s greatest cooks.
A fan of art rock and other unusual and experimental styles of mewsic, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Duluth-based Indie band Low, – brand new to my ears this morning. – as they performed a mix of secular and traditional religious Christmas carols. The band’s style, characterized by slow tempos and minimalist arrangements, has been labeled “slowcore,” but members of Low reportedly rejected that label. Their mewsic is also categorized as “dream pop.” Indeed, listening to these songs is like experiencing a dream. The intimate vocals, described as “chilling” by one critic (a compliment), get inside your head and inspire visions. I can easily imagine these songs being used in the soundtrack of an animated holiday movie. I read that one of the songs on this album, Low’s version of “The Little Drummer Boy,” is perhaps their best known work. Wiki sez: << The band’s mainstream exposure has been limited: their best-known song is arguably a hymnal version of “The Little Drummer Boy” which was featured in a Gap television ad that depicted a snowball fight in slow-motion to match the song’s glacial tempo. >>
To sum it up, I really enjoyed the inspiring, mind-expanding sound of Low! Thanks for the introduction, Cathy!
I couldn’t agree more with the closing affirmation. There’s “gloom and misery everywhere,” as the lyrics of “Stormy Weather” remind us, but we can choose to adopt a positive attitude every day and spread joy. It’s the only way we’re going to turn things around.
Thanks again and have a safe and happy week, dear friend Cathy!
