‘Chilling’ #art theme #TADWR

My mind drifted back to last week’s chilling cold temps for today’s inspiration Procreate sketch. We didn’t get a lot of snow, maybe an inch but the chilling conditions made it feel every bit like this wintry scene.

Thanks for stopping in with your coffee for a peek at my masterpiece and …oh yeah for not spilling it on my artwork. 😉

It’s a super pleasure to share my sprinkle of talent with you this morning. 😘 If you like to see what others are bringing to the art play date, then I invite you to high tail it over to Rain’s Garden to browse through the gallery of artistry!

Tomorrow is DH’s off-Friday so I’ll be MIA in Blogosphere, so I will leave you with a few Friday Sillies just so you don’t fall into a deep hole of despair today. I wouldn’t want THAT on my conscience. 🤣

That was me last week. This week not quite as bad but lets keep with the theme.

You’re invited to join me on the Monday’s Mewsic Moves Me on Sunday dance floor. The mewsic theme is an early holiday kick-off with Black Friday in mind. This month’s honorary co-hostess, Stunning Keisha is asking us to share songs about toys for people or pets. 😉

  1. Today(Monday) we have above average temps until Thursday. I love your painting which is a really nice art piece you created.

  2. That is beautiful artwork, Cathy. We seldom have that kind of weather where I live in TN, but we panic if we get an inch. I wouldn’t mind snow if I didn’t have balance problems due to mild cerebral palsy. Seems like fall was late, weather-wise here, but we have had some wintry temperatures, lately.

    1. Cynthia,

My memory is horrible. I don’t recall what part of Tennessee you live in but we don’t get much snow in Knoxville. The Tru-Cities and the Smoky’s, however, is a different story. In fact, the Smoky’s closed 441 across the mountain over the weekend due to snow and ice. Like you, our autumn was late and short. It feels like it went straight from summer to winter. Thanks for visiting!

    1. Nicole,

This sort of winter scene is something I’ve never experienced, mostly the ice skating. Growing up in southern West Virginia there were many winters with plenty of deep snow for us kids to trudge through, throw snowballs at one another, sledding, or building snowmen. However, since moving to East Tennessee 40 years ago we don’t have near the snow or accumulation of my childhood days past. The Blizzard of 1993 was the biggest and best snowfall we’d seen here in Knoxville. That was pretty amazing but these days I’m content to just look at the snow from afar or to draw snowy scenes. 🙂

  3. Hi Cathy :)) I love your sketch!!! Oh it’s chilling, I could really stand by that fire pit with a nice guzzle of brandy after ice skating…which I haven’t done in years by the way! I love her outfit! And the background sky is beautiful!! The blue shades you chose really convey a wintery chilling scene!! 🙂 Lovely job! The funnies are great! Enjoy your Friday with your honey!! 🙂

    1. Rain,

Thank you for the lovely compliments on the sketch. Your weekly art prompts really inspire me to get creative and to have fun. I’m loving my participation in your weekly hop. 🙂

  4. I always enjoy your sketches. This one shows it’s wintertime for sure. I’m not a fan.

    Love all the funnies.

Have a fabulous long weekend with hubby. Big hug and lots of love. ♥

    1. Sandee,

Thanks for the visit. The weekend really didn’t quite go as smoothly as I’d hoped. We ran into a little trouble in our travels on the way home from seeing my folks which involved a tractor-trailer crossing the center line. Thankfully, we are okay physically but emotionally we’re a bit shot and our car? Well…it’s damaged but driveable. We’re grateful. It could’ve gone differently. Say prayers that we’re able to get this resolved properly with the driver’s company. 😉

  5. Well done winter scene, Cathy! 👌 When it comes to that season, humour is a good way to deal with it, cuz there’s nuttin’ we can do about it. 😀

    1. Debbie,

Yes, you have to have a good sense of humor to get through the weather and life in general. There are so many hard balls that get tossed at me that I find laughing through the pain is the best medicine. 😀

    1. Cold weather and I don’t get along too well but I know our climate isn’t all that bad compared to other places and yet I whine about it. Thanks for stopping in for some laughs!

  6. For these parts, that first cartoon, but not snow. Just a thermometer showing a temp below 65F. We’re the real winter wussies.

    1. Liz,

I often say regarding the weather, it’s what you get used to. Of course, I’ve lived in this part of the country all my life and even as a kid I didn’t like being cold. I enjoyed playing in the snow but didn’t like the cold. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere that’s even worse than here. I know we generally have it pretty good and I shouldn’t complain but I do. Thanks for joining me for some giggles.

    1. Christine,

I’d imagine you have a winter scene like my illustration in your area by now. The snowball comic is my favorite, too. Thanks for joining me today. Have a good weekend, dearie!

  7. Hi Cathy, thanks for a fun post. Love your drawing, very much winter-like, The jokes made me smile, big time. Thanks, I needed some extra smiles today. Have a wonderful day and enjoy tomorrow! Hugs, Valerie

    1. Valerie,

I’m happy to add a smile to your face today. There’s nothing that can make you feel better fast than a good laugh. Humor is the best medicine for just that. Thanks for checking out my artwork this week, my friend. Have a good weekend!

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Art theme day and Friday Sillies on Thursday, dear friend! Right off the bat, your color sketch reminded me of a place back home where hundreds of people went in winter to sleigh ride, sled and toboggan. It was an area known as Reservoir Hill, a long slope that faced northward and therefore remained snow packed, protected from the melting rays of sunshine. It was typical to see people at the top of the hill huddling around a fire barrel like the one you drew, rosy cheeks and scarves flying in the brisk breeze. Your scene is serene, Cathy, another example of your torrent of talent.

Your four memes made me chuckle. I especially like the three with the snowmen.

Thank you again for the sweet birthday wishes. They helped make my day more special. Have a happy Thursday, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Thank you for joining for a cup of coffee as I share with you my new artwork. I’m really enjoying Rain’s prompts and finding inspiration to illustrate each week. The snowmen humor struck my funny bone, especially the snowball gaining weight. Sometimes that’s the way I feel. The place from your youth sounds very Norman Rockwell. The best hill in my hometown was the main road and I believe the big kids used to ride their sleds down it at night when traffic was light. I always wanted to do that but never got the opportunity. We sure did get some good snowfalls in southern West Virginia. Here in our part of the Tennessee Valley, we do not see much snow. Our biggest concern is ice. That causes the most problems. Nothing goes in that stuff when it hits. The city takes every precaution to make sure roads are driveable and often go overboard but if they don’t then the first time they don’t then Mother Nature will cripple the city. lol Have a good week, dear friend!
