Chicken Humor

Purrs and hooowdys, Kittens & Dawgs!  A couple of weeks ago, I visited Veronica from Of Mice and raMen. She shared the above video which I made me giggle. What’s interesting is I shared Camila Cabello’s “Havana” im my Cathy Chats segment in early January.  Thanks to Veronica for today’s inspiration for this edition of ‘Chicken Humor’ on Friday Sillies. Enjoy!

I’m rounding things out with these Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by the lovely, Annie and Ellen!

  1. My favorite president is George Washington  because  he was the first but mostly he was a man of integrity.  He wrote a set of rules for himself, The Rules of Civility & Decent Behavior in Company and Conversation, which I shared in this post if you care to read them.  I think this gives the reader a good idea of what kind of person George Washington might have been.
  2. This weekend, I have plans to  do nothing other than spend it with DH. The forecast looks rainy so I’m sure we’ll watch some movies and catch a bit of the Olympics. Maybe, I’ll do a few sketches in prep for the April A to Z Challenge.
  3. I am on my second cup of coffee as I finish these fill-ins.
  4. I believe there is a good reason when bad things happen. We may not see the good in the bad at first but if we’re open to learning from our experiences then one can see it eventually.

That’s a wrap for now but I hope to see you on the dance floor for Movie or TV Show theme mewsic on Mondays Mewsic Moves Me!

  1. What? No funky chicken?! Good answers, Cathy. I hope your weekend was great! HUGS!

  2. Thanks for putting a smile on my face this morning with a couple of laugh outlouds with the chicken cartoons. All this talk about the A-Z is making me stressed. I sat out last year because it takes too much time, but I thought I should do it again to get my posting back on track. But in the meantime, I barely get any regular posting done, much less preparing something ahead. Once again, I’ll say, it’s a good thing that I’m not counting on income from blogging.

    1. I’m glad that I made you smile. Many people stress over the A-Z thing and while I take all reasonable steps to get as much done beforehand as possible, I’m not going to tear myself up or get wigged out about it. I prefer to see it as something fun. If you’re trying to find your way back into blogging on a regular basis then this will help to jump-start ya and I encourage you to try to adopt the same philosophy of just going with the flow. Who cares if you have a theme or not, have fun with it! 😉

  3. Rufus Thomas was a disc jockey at WDIA in Memphis when he recorded “Funky Chicken.”
He was very popular in the Mid-South… For the record, I was never able to do the dance.

    1. Myke,

Hmm, that’s interesting to know about Rufus. I did not know this. Hey, I don’t know if I remember doing the funky chicken but I bet I did, though. lol Those novelty songs from the 70s were silly but so much fun! 🙂

  4. Hi Cathy, love your chicken funnies, especially the one about chickens doing the people dance – so made me laugh. I didn’t know that about George Washington, very interesting. I need to do some A to Z prep this weekend too – thanks for the reminder.
Hope your weekend with DH is a good one. Enjoy.

    1. Pamela,

Great to bring you some good laughs. I can’t believe how fast this year is going and soon we’ll be doing the A-Z thingy again. While I’ve been working on my sketches I’m nowhere near the place I was last year this time. I hope I can get them all done before April 1st. That sure did help a lot last year. Have a good week, dearie!

  5. Great chicken funnies. I have a friend who raises chickens, I need to copy some of these for her. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. George Washington was definitely a man of integrity. I hope you have a wonderful weekend with DH. XO

  6. Love the giggling kitty sketch and kitty humor ~ I just want to dance is wonderful!

    Happy Weekend to you,

    1. John,

I do not remember the Schlitz Malt Liquor commercial. At the time it aired I was 13. Definitely old enough to remember but it sure doesn’t jingle any bells in my brain. Rowan & Marint’s Laugh-in was a funny show. The entire cast was a hoot. I had forgotten about their segment Chicken News. Thanks for stoking my memory!

        1. John,

I had to go back to rewatch the Chicken News clip and you’re so right about the prediction made in “news of the future” portion. If only the writers knew just how close their were with government spying in our homes. They laughed about it then but we certainly aren’t laughing about it now.

  7. Hi, Cathy!

To refresh my memory I watched the official video for “Havana” and enjoyed it. I like the telenovela theme and the rap contribution of Young Thug. The chicken cover is indeed funny. I am also glad to see you remembered Rufus Thomas and his novelty dance song “Funky Chicken.” The chicken cartoons are hilarious. The one showing the rooster “beating the children” is an excellent play on words.

I hope we get some rain down here this weekend because it has been mighty dry and unpleasantly warm. Enjoy your time with DH and I’ll see you next week, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Sandee,

I always felt having a dose of laughs at the end of the work week is a great stress buster and a wonderful way to begin the weekend. Thanks for joining me!

  8. Howdy, Cathy. I’m going to hold onto your fourth thought there. There is plenty of bad going on here right now. So bad that even the least little glimmer hope is welcome. I sure can’t see a reason for what is happening, from any direction. Thankfully, Heavenly Father knows it all and has it all covered. Thank you for any prayers you can send up for our family.

I love chickens and enjoyed your chicken humor. Have a blessed weekend. 🙂

    1. Suzanne,

I’ve certainly been in things over my head like you but like you I always know God has things covered. It’s difficult keeping one’s blind faith going in what you can’t see sometimes, too. I uttered a little prayer asking God to put His hands on your situation and keeping them there always. Sending love and hugs your way, my friend. It’s good to see you. God bless!
