Cathy’s Pinup Girl #AtoZChallenge art sketch series (‘P’)

It’s Saturday, so I’m MIA in Blogosphere but I have today’s A to Z Challenge illustration which was inspired by vintage photograph of a nude woman wearing a drape, sorta. My sketch no doubt comes from a image locked in my brain from long ago.

  1. Great song selection to go with your image 🙂

    An A-Z of Faerie: Moon

  2. This gal draped seductively is beautifully rendered and I commend you on your memory…I can’t do that. I watched that video Tom sent and it is too funny

    1. Birgit,

Thanks! The reference image I used gave me a good start. When I was younger I was a bit fascinated with women who posed for artists. Who knew I’d grow up to draw my own? Yeah that parody Tom shared is a great! There are some clever people out there coming up with some fun stuff. Laughter will help us to get through this mess a little better.

  3. Hey Cat our Linky isn’t working I tried it a couple of times and nothing. I put it in there and look at my blog & poof! Could you please take a look at the email you sent me maybe??? Or wait I can do one and send it… nah that will mix everything up in… maybe I’ll go look at everyone else’s.

  4. Lovely sketch! Looks like you’re having fun with the challenge. Keep it up.

  5. Oh boy, what a great Post. Your picture the young lady was probably having a massage in a salon and they wrap up in sheets. It’s definitely excellent. Your tunes are great too… I haven’t heard Vogue in a long time. Madonna is so young there. Oh funny, I remember FREEZE FRAME! GREAT GAME & TONS OF FUN! STAY HOME VOGUE IS HYSTERICAL… hahahaha Luv it! Thanks for sharing Cat! I had tons of fun here. Have a good weekend luvie! HUGS

    1. Thanks for joining me, Marie! I’m happy to share some old mewsic with you and I’m equally happy that you enjoyed my daily sketch.

  6. Last time I looked at Wikipedia about it, I learned that George Harrison helped Ringo write “Photograph.” They were very close.

I like the drawing, especially since it came from memory.

  7. Happy Weekend! Your drawing is beautiful.

Thanks for reminding me about changing the link on that last post, it’s something i’ve been meaning to do and finally found a quick minute.

    1. Mimi,

I’m happy to serve as a reminder. I’m always happy when someone does the same for me. Often I get so busy in Blogosphere I forget to do something simple.

  8. Hi, Cathy!

Happy Saturday and “P” Day, dear friend!

It’s interesting that today’s drawing was not inspired by Elvgren or one of the other classic pinup artists. It is one of your own creation, inspired by the vague memory of a vintage photograph you saw somewhere along the way. The semi nude woman is lithe and lovely. Lucky for her, unlucky for Shady, 🙂 the drape and her hand conceal her private parts. I hope you can bring her back to us In Living Color at some point in the future.

I enjoyed your set of songs related to Picture Taking. I knew all of them except the one by Nickelback. Represented in this batch are some of the most memorable music videos played on MTV and VH1 in the 80s. My favorites among them are the two different “Photograph” songs, one by Def Leppard and the other by Ringo. The first song, the Madonna hit “Vogue,” was the inspiration of a recent Chris Mann coronavirus parody video. If you haven’t yet seen it, take a look:

I wish you and DH and your children a safe, healthy and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy!

    1. Tom,

Yep, I pulled from my imagination mostly for my ‘P’ prompt illustration. In the coming weeks, I will revamp all the last sketches using Procreate to bring them in living color and since you’re one of my regular readers then I hope you don’t miss out on the revisions. Thanks for sharing the Coronavirus parody which is new-to-me and made me smile. It’s wonderful people are turning to humor to make this dreary time more fun. 🙂
