Thank God it’s Friday, right? What’s that you say, everyday feels the same while staying at home? Welcome to my world! lol I’ve been a SAHM for nearly 32 years, so little has changed in my daily homebody status. Even with DH now working from home, we’re keeping close to a normal routine considering all things and today is his off-Friday. This means…I’m not here.
The beauty of scheduling is no one knows I’m not in Blogosphere unless I say something. Oops, I let th Cathy is out of the bag! 🙂 Hopefully, you’ll enjoy today’s A to Z Challenge post along with some Easter Friday Silllies at the bottom. Today’s illustration is inspired by Bill Randall’s March 1955 calendar girl illustration. Be advised there could be sensitive material in today’s post and not suitable for a younger audience. Proceed with caution.
[tweetthis]I just visited Cathy’s Pinup Girl #AtoZChallenge #art sketch series, and I think you should, too! [/tweetthis]
Thanks for stopping by today. I hope y’all are enjoying this blessed Good Friday. Please be sure to add your footprints (direct URL) in comments so I can find my way back to you easily and I’ll be back again tomorrow with another illustration in Cathy’s Pinup Girls Art Sketch Series.

I love your Lassie who is very comfortable with those pipes. Wow to her abs! She reminds me of Maureen O’Hara actually who also sang.
Once again great drawings! Love the funnies too! Take care…see ya Monday!
Wowza, Cathy! Your Irish lass is stunning. Great job, girl! Stay safe! 🌼 🌻 🌞
Hahaha– I love puns so that ‘out of the bag’ line went perfectly with your inspiration and your own art — cheers and happy holiday !!!
Yep, I’m more partial to the pencil drawings. Don’t know why just love them the best. hmmmm I’ll have to think about that a bit. Anyway, that Ruby Murray she sounds a lot like Doris Day doesn’t she? Very nice, and your toons are a hoot Girlfriend. I wrote you and email. Have a great day! hugs
That came out great, lot of detail. xo
I found you years ago on the A to Z Challenge and although I don’t get to read every one of your posts, I still appreciate your blog. Thanks for the humor at the end. Very appropriate. Keep up the good work! https://www.dianeweidenbenner.com/instant-pot-craze/
Wonderful drawing, and the funnies were certainly interesting as well as amusing.
I love the drawing today, with the plaid and her coloring.
Fun to see the drawing become a color sketch, thanks for sharing the process!

Hi, Cathy!
Happy “I-Day on Fri-day,” dear friend! I am happy to be here to gaze at your glamour girl of the day and lift my spirits with your Friday Sillies. I like how your A to Z series gives a nod to various pinup artists. Bill Randall is another classic illustrator with whom I am familiar from my years of studying and collecting pinups. Your drawing of “An Irish Lass” is lovely, Cathy. Once again we have a fair skinned, red haired lass. Her legs are well proportioned and she has a pretty face. I love how her fancy hat matches the cushion she is seated upon. The bagpipes and flute are nicely drawn and complete this interesting composition.
I remember the song “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling,” but I was not familiar with Northern Irish singer and actress Ruby Murray. I read that she was one of the most popular vocalists in the British Isles in the 50s. Ruby scored ten hits on the UK chart during the decade and made history in 1955 by placing five of her records in the top 20 the same week.
I wish you a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Cathy, and I’ll be over tomorrow for your Saturday “J” post!
