Brand New Key

I know what this key goes to. Honestly, if I saw it I’m not sure I could tell you what it is. My best friend had a key sort of like this when were really young. She even let me use it. Although, I never had one of my own. When I was a kid, there was a very popular song about this key, maybe you’ve heard it….

This song hit the charts in 197-72. This silly song, nicknamed “The Roller Skate Song” is what made Melaine famous whether she liked it or not even though she had other musical hits. She said, “At first it was terrible. I mean, I became known by this song even though I had other songs like ‘Beautiful People’ and ‘Candles in the Rain’ and ‘Look What They’ve Done to My Song, Ma.’ That was the song. Part of my summer fun was spent at the roller skating rink. In the early to mid-70s, I rented the boot style skates.  I always wanted my own, but never got them. Can you roller skate? Did you wear the boot style or the clamp on type skates as a kid?
