Blackmore’s Night

Rain’s Garden hosts the weekly art prompt, Thursday Art Date with Rain. The theme for this week is ‘Holiday Stories, Carols, Verses‘. While I stewed on that, I found inspiration by a new band discovery, Blackmore’s Night. What I like about this group is it has a celtic feel. I’m not sure if all their mewsic is like this but the below songs have a bit of Irish flavor entwined in the melody. Listen and see what you think. 😉

If you liked these two song selections, then you may wish to listen to Blackmore’s Night Winter Carols album (approx 42 mins) on YT. Just hit play and busy yourself in your holiday to-dos. 😉

Now for my Thursday art sketch of the true Christmas story that changed the world, Baby Jesus!

I used this Draw So Cute YT tutorialas a guide to create my Procreate illustration.

Do you like to color?  A couple of weeks ago, I shared a website where you can print or color online.  When I was kid that was a favorite past time but you don’t have to be little to enjoy the fun.   The Internet is full of free resources. You might want to check out these webpages: Easy, Peasy, & Fun,  Coloring Page for Adults, Happiness is Homemade (for adults & kids), & U Create Crafts for some relaxing fun.

I don’t do much coloring anymore other than when I sketch on my iPad. If you like to doodle or you if you’d like to encourage the artsy side of your kiddo(s) then try a few of these simple designs: Easy Instructions for How-to Draw Santa, How to Draw a Christmas Tree, and How to Draw a Nativity Scene from the word Xmas.

  1. Hay … can you send me the link to the 4M Music post … I would love to post my Drummer Boy Music … and others when I get the chance 🙂

  2. Without a doubt, I can hear the Irish in the music. And your gift of coloring options is a wonderful idea. I don’t color, but my handicapped daughter does and these links will delight her. Thank you and Merry Christmas to you …

  4. Hi Cathy 🙂 That’s a beautiful piece! So soulful 🙂 I’m fond of Celtic music and I really liked hearing that! Thanks so much for joining in! Oh I love colouring and I’ve been to a few of those sites before! I printed out a few of them to colour when I’m having insomnia or anxiety, it really calms the mind! 🙂

    1. Rain,

I’m fond of Celtic mewsic, as well. This group was a nice discovery and I’m glad you enjoyed listening to Blackmore’s Night. I think coloring is great way to calm the mind, too.

  5. Beautiful art and good music today, Blackmore sounds good, I’m listening now. Thanks for sharing. Hope you continue to enjoy your vacation. Lots of stress here, it can only get better! Hugs, Valerie

    1. Valerie-Jael,

Our vacation time is now over but DH will get a few days off next week for Christmas. It’ll be nice to spend more time with him off and on until the new year sweeps in. I can’t believe 2019 will soon end. The years go by at an alarming rate, don’t you think? I was just saying to my oldest daughter perhaps I’ll have at least 30 years to spend with my little granddaughter and we know how fast that will disappear, don’t we? Thanks for the return visit and may you have a joyful time this Christmas season!
