Last Monday, I paired two artists singing The Eagles’ #1 hit Best of My Love. The vote scales swung heavily to one side throughout this BoTB session. I hate it when that happens, don’t you? Does this mean the contenders weren’t a good match up to give each a run for the money or what?
A few regular BoTBers didn’t vote this round. Some folks couldn’t play Rod’s video. However, even if it had worked then I don’t know if things would more evenly balance out. I did add a link to a sample of the song with the hopes this helps those few not able to view the YouTube vid. sigh Does anyone have suggestions on how to correct this problem in the future?
Anyway, the final count stands as:
Rod – 12 (this includes my vote)
Aswad – 4
Congratulations Rod and thanks to every body who participated. Don’t forget to see how the other showdowns went down with Stephen the official BoTB roll call keeper!
I hope to see y’all back here on the 15th for round two of Battle of the Bands. It’s time to hit the dance floor with the amazing 4M crew.

I picked another winner this week. 🙂
Yes, I agree. It sucks when one band is favoured heavily against another. I hate when that happens. The past few battles mine were exactly like that. Fortunately this time around it seemed to be a real battle. No matter what, the battles are still fun, no matter who wins. And isn’t having fun what it’s all about?
And yes, I really hate when a video won’t play in another country. Those rules and regulations are just dumb. I can never understand why some videos are restricted in one country from another.
The additional song inclusion was a nice touch today.
Jeffrey, I’ve had my share of lopsided showdowns, but the past handful played out better. However, you hit the point square on, it’s all about the fun. It doesn’t matter who wins or what the outcome is; it’s just fun. Oh yeah, I’m with you about the stupid video restrictions. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, either. I guess it’s just a way to control internet users. That’s the sole purpose of liberals anyhow. They aren’t happy unless they can control you.
I absolutely love this track he still has a great voice
have a musictastic week 🙂
Steve, It’s interesting how some older artists retain their vocals and others fall off. Thankfully, Rod still has it! Thanks for hopping over. 😉
I guess I should have expected Rod to win based on who he is.
Have you checked out the site http://polsy.org.uk/stuff/ytrestrict.cgi
When I remember I’ve been using this to tell me how available a YouTube video is. Test it out. So far it’s been working well for me–if like I said I remember to use it.

Thanks, Lee, for the YouTube test site. I will bookmark it & will try to remember to you use it. I knew Rod would get the most votes, but i secretly hoped it wouldn’t be by a landslide victory, though.
Sorry, I didn’t realize that Lee had already provided you with the link. 🙂
No problem! I’m just happy I have good friends who want to help.
Oh, Rod Stewart…that voice…
Nice pick. Sorry I missed your BOTB last week!
Michelle, No worries. Maybe you can catch the next BoTB on the 15th. Rod has one of a kind voice, doesn’t he? Thanks for the dance!
Hi, dear Cathy!
The outcome of your battle pleases me and does not surprise me. Rod’s rep precedes him and makes him a heavy favorite going into any contest against a less well known artist. Whenever I encounter a video on a friend’s post that won’t play for whatever reason, I take a little time to search for it elsewhere. It usually only takes a few extra seconds to find at least a 30 second sound sample which gives you the gist of the recording.
Thanks for the Rod Stewart bonus track. As the video reminds us, we are all getting older. 🙂 Have a wonderful week, dear friend Cathy!
Tom, I figured Rod would be the favorite by most, but I didn’t think the votes would be this off balance. I find I have the same problem with viewing vids when I visit a friend’s site in another country, too. I just find one myself to listen to. I wish I knew ahead of time, though when it’s going to be a problem for those who visit Curious as a Cathy. I don’t think there is a way for me to know that, is there? Oh well, I appreciate your stopping by to share with me this morning. I hope you have a grand week, my friend!
Yes, there is a way for you to tell if a video is blocked in certain countries. Another blog friend told me about this link. Bookmark it and use it anytime you want to be sure.

I hope that helps you, dear Cathy!
Thanks, Tom! This is great info to have on hand and I will put it to good use. 😀
